Very nice example of the Classic Gran Turismo Hawk. Local VA. car that has been in private collection for most of its life. Factory 'Avanti powered', one of 396 built in 1963 with the R1 Jet Thrust 289. Engine # is JT1028 and is original for the car. Also has factory 4 speed transmission with posi traction rear end and power steering, power disc brakes. Body is very straight with no rust issues and appears to be original color. Older repaint has held up rather well and car still shows very nicely. Interior is equally nice with the exception of one small tear in drivers seat. Door panles, dash, carpets, headliner, plus rest of interior seats are all excellent. Does have an after market tach and newer stero system but the rest seems very original and correct. All gauges function well and lights, signals work properly. A/C looks to have a newer compreesor and really works well. Engine is very strong with excellent compression and blows no smoke. Gearbox is also real nice with clutch and synchros performing wonderfully. Car is a real pleasure to drive and surprisingly smooth and powerful with nice brakes and superb road feel. Trunk is tidy with some surface rust under mat from sitting but could easliy be cleaned up. Has what looks like the factory spare still, plus jack and several boxes of spare parts. Wheels are in great shape and tires look nearly new. Underneath is solid with no major rust issues anywhere with pictures available upon request. Overall a very soild driver that is ready to enjoy as is or can be taken to the next level with not too much work.

Swedish toymaker offers a wooden Maserati collection
Thu, Mar 15 2018In some ways, Maserati had it easier in the 1980s. We don't necessarily mean in a financial sense, or that the cars were especially reliable, but it has to be said both the Biturbo and the third generation Quattroporte are both simple, three-box shapes that are easy to re-create from blocks of solid wood. The Swedish toy company Playsam offers the Alfieri concept, the Levante SUV and open-wheel Maserati race cars in wooden toy car form, and the production portfolio is planned to be enlarged later. Maserati has plenty of classic designs for Playsam to re-create, but our tip is to look into the Biturbo style cars if they want to take a break from all those swoopy shapes you can see in the slideshow above. Maybe they could even offer the Chrysler TC by Maserati with a detachable hardtop: Those round opera windows must be really easy to drill in place. Browsing the online store, the prices for the Playsam's Maserati products are far higher than the toymaker's conventional $70 wooden toy car range, at over $370 apiece. But like the real counterparts, they should not just sit untouched: We would rather see them being used. Related Video:
Maserati betting big on Levante SUV
Sat, Aug 1 2015In 2014, Maserati was booming thanks to a sales spike, and executives contemplated capping production. The company's fortunes, however, have changed quickly this year. Its sales dropped 13 percent globally to 8,281 cars in the second quarter, and earnings were down 30 percent, according to Automotive News. This performance has led the company to pin its future hopes on the launch of the Levante crossover. The Levante arrives in the first half of 2016. An official debut is scheduled for sometime this year, according to the company's five-year plan, though the unveiling might be pushed back until the 2016 Detroit auto show in January, Automotive News reports. The Levante shares a platform with the Ghibli and reportedly will use its V6 engines. The crossover also is expected to have all-wheel drive. Patent drawings suggest a look reminiscent of the earlier Kubang concept (pictured above). FCA explains some of Maserati's current weakness is due to problems in China. Deliveries were down 37 percent there in the second quarter, according to Automotive News, and the country's weak economy isn't expected to let up soon. Related Video:
Maserati's next sports car shown in heavy camo
Wed, Nov 20 2019Maserati has started the process of re-tooling its historic Modena, Italy, factory to build a new sports car scheduled to come out in 2020. Full details about the model remain under wraps — even its name is a mystery — but the very first batch of images provided by Maserati and brought to you exclusively by Autoblog reveal several key points about it, including a few that we didn't see coming. The photos douse cold water on the rumors claiming Maserati's next sports car would be essentially a toned-down version of the Alfieri concept introduced in 2014. The test mule depicted in the images is heavily camouflaged, but its proportions, the size of its cabin, and the huge vents behind the doors suggest it's a mid-engined two-seater, not a front-engined model with a 2+2 interior layout. Autoblog learned the test mule is powered by a completely new drivetrain, but your guess is as good as ours when it comes to what it's made up of. Regardless, it was designed and built entirely in-house, and it will spawn a family of drivetrains that will exclusively power the company's vehicles. Starting from scratch is a huge undertaking. Engineers will closely analyze the data gathered during the testing phase, and use it to fine-tune the drivetrain on its research and development department's simulators. The improved components will in turn be road-tested. Maserati's new approach to vehicle design relies heavily on simulators, but head of product Joe Grace told us real-world testing remains hugely important. The company puts about 3 million miles annually on its prototypes. While the photos beg more questions than they answer, they confirm Maserati's renaissance is around the corner. The company will introduce its next new model during the Geneva Motor Show in March 2020, so we expect to learn much more about it in the coming months. It will be followed by the next-generation GranTurismo and GranCabrio, which will be available with the company's first electric powertrain, and by a new SUV positioned below the Levante.
