You are looking at a magnificent classic red 1952 MG TD! This car was originally a California car, where it spent it's entire life until about 2008. The car came to New Jersey in 2008, where it resided in a climate-controlled garage. The car has been driven less than 200 miles, since it arrived in New Jersey and was only driven on sunny days. This MG was kept in a small private car collection for the owner's personal pleasure. As with all collections, decisions are made to sell, or buy, in this instance they have decided to sell.
As stated, this car received a full and professionally done restoration. We have a notebook full of pictures and descriptions of the entire process and I must say, it is impressive. Although it has been about ten years since the res toration, the TD shows extremely well. The body itself is straight and rust-free. The finish shows very well. The chrome shows well, it is straight and bright. The top and side curtains are as new. The interior is flawless. The toneau cover is perfect. The windshield is perfect. The chromed wire wheels and tires have nearly zero miles on them and they are perfect. The engine starts right up and it purrs, it sounds as it should, no knocks, noise, or smoke of any kind. The cars drives wonderfully well. The clutch is strong and does not slip. The gearbox is fine, with all gears working properly. The steering is responsive and tight, the suspension is strong and tight and the brakes are new with almost zero miles on them, they have been upgraded to fit the wheels. The car is just a ball to drive and it can get out onto the streets and highways and really cruise! It has good oil pressure and does not run hot. All lights, directional signals, horn and windshield wipers operate properly. Even the underside of the car is immaculate!
The MG comes with all books, service manual, restoration book, etc. Also included are a set of the original wheels, with good tires and the original type brakes. You will also get a luggage rack, not on the car, because the spare tire is on instead.
Since the car was restored about ten years ago, there are a few relatively minor imperfections to tell you about. There are a few minor chips and light scratches, but you really have to look for them. There might be a very little evidence of age-related patina, but again, you really have to look for it. The oil pressure gauge does not function. I have been told that these older MGs tend to leak fluids slightly, this one does too. To be sure, this is a fine car, but it is not a concourse quality restoration.
In general, this MG TD is ready to drive and enjoy today. There is no doubt that this car should make it's new owner very proud. Talk about getting attention, you can't go too far without hearing other motorists honking their horns and shouting adoring compliments to this little red beauty. One thing is for sure, if you are a bit shy and you don't like attention, this car will change your life. It just brings smiles to almost everybody's face!
