Owner's history and description:
"My MG TF 1500's history is short and
sweet. The car was purchased from the original owner in 1964 by my
brother-in-law. At the time he was working at a gas station and the original
owner had to sell the MG because "His wife didn't like it!" Then in 1975, my
brother-in-law needed money to complete his college education. I purchased it
and it has been in my garage for the past 39 years. For 50 out of its 59 year
life, it has been in the family. It has always been garage kept and driven an
hour or two every month since 1975. I have not restored its body because my
real interest was in driving, not restoring. This says volumes for its
mechanical strength. In addition to regular oil/grease service, in 2009 the
following mechanical items were replaced by a professional:
-
4 Front Wheel cylinders and machined
brake shoes
-
2 Rear wheel cylinders and machined brake
shoes
-
New brake boots and steel brake
lines
-
New Master brake
cylinder
-
Replaced left/right axle
seals
-
Replaced front suspension control arm and
line bushings (urethane)
-
Replaced engine head gasket
set
Now it is time for a new owner to enjoy
this wonderful MG TF 1500!"

A
HISTORY OF THE MG TF 1500:
The MG TF 1500 was the best and last of the
venerable T-Series. Only 9600 were originally sold and only 3400 of those were
of the TF 1500 model. The TF 1500's specifications were 4-cylinder, 1466
cc/63hp, 2bbl. The first TF models were only 1250cc and were not competitive
with the then offered Triumph TR2 and Austin-Healey 100. There may be only 1000
- 1400 MG TF 1500s still in existence today. Many were lost on the 1954/1955
racing circuit. Enthusiasts seek out the rare TF 1500 variant. Each TF 1500
sports "1500 Badges" on both sides of the hoods to visually distinguish them.
The TF 1500 has a reputation as being
fairly robust mechanically. There are several replacement part suppliers for
the TF with one of the best being Moss Motors, Ltd. They have every part of the
TF available. The vehicle's engine and transmission are relatively quiet at all
speeds. Such a statement that cannot be made for most prior
MGs.
