1978 MG Midget: 25,000 original miles, NO RUST, EVER. No body damage. This vehicle was in storage since 2008 until I bought it in early 2014. I buy "projects" during the winter to keep myself busy-repair/replace/repaint what needs to be done, then sell them in the Spring. I only try to cover my costs, not make a profit. I've done this with cars/trucks/motorcycles for 20+ years.

I took it to my mechanic that races Midgets to get it running/stopping. Here's what he did: installed newer gas tank, brake lines, fuel pump, distributor, ignition module, install new fuel pump. adjust valves, and started on replacing clutch slave cylinder when he discovered the clevis pin that connects the push rod to the clutch releases lever was missing (probably laying in bottom of bell housing. He tells me the transmission will have to come out to install the push rod, and he is willing to do that, but it's racing season, so he can't get to it until June. I have all the parts to finish the job (slave cylinder, push rod, clevis bolt, clutch hose), but want the vehicle gone so I can start my next project. Car runs good, has good compression in all cylinders. My mechanic tells me it should have a mechanical cooling fan instead of the electronic one it has. I will furnish the fan a no charge.

I gutted the car, sanded it down with 400 grit wet/dry, primed and paint it with 6 coats of DuPont Carmine Red (factory original ) single stage urethane paint. All parts (bumpers, lights, emblems, etc.) were removed, cleaned/replaced/repaired to paint the car, then reinstalled. All interior trim panels were removed, cleaned and re-dyed from beige (faded) along with the seats to MG black. New carpeting was installed.

The car comes with both the convertible top boot and tonneau cover (options in 1978). The convertible top is in "so-so" condition. Brakes are like new , tires, although have "like new" tread, are weather checked. Car has jack, lug wrench (usually lost), factory service manual, and 2 sets of ignition keys. No door keys, but honestly, there is no sense in locking the car, they are easy to get into. The hood (bonnet if you are English) release knob (a "T" pull) is broken, so a vise grips is needed to release the bonnet. Cable should be replaced.

Title shows "Mileage exceeds mechanical limits", but previous owner told me he was confused and checked 1 of the 2 boxes on the title that deals with mileage-he thought he HAD to check a box. Two boxes on Ohio title: 1. mileage exceeds, and 2. mileage in excess. I believe him when he told me the miles are original-let's be honest-if the mileage wasn't original, it would rusted out and every inch of the body would be dented or scratched. I bought the car because it had low mileage and again, no rust or body damage.

Ask questions. I have 100% feedback and it is not my intention to hide anything. I'll respond as quickly as I can. The vehicle needs the clutch slave cylinder installed and CAN NOT BE DRIVEN. Cash money, USPS money order-NO PAY PAL. Car comes with radio & antenna (not installed), some misc. parts of little value.

There is no warranty with this vehicle-it needs further work to be driven. I have not driven it, only heard it run. It has Lucas electronics, so I make no claims to the Prince of Darkness.
