Just finished a restoration on this 75 Midget. It was a desert car, 1 small crack in the drivers floor pan was welded but thats it. No holes, no rust. I have many many pics to show the condition of the car as purchased, the tear down and rebuild. Many of the parts were from a 79 that I restored and was totaled. I didnt want it all to goto waste so I rebuilt this one. Everything was removed from the engine compartment and passenger compartment to be painted. All new door seals, window seals, light gaskets etc etc. The front rubber bumper was removed and the holes in the fenders welded closed. Custom grill installed to clean it all up.

The 1500 is out of a 79. It was 'freshened' All new seals and gaskets, reground crankshaft .010" over. Pistons are standard size upgraded to flat top pistons to bring the compression ratio to approx 8.3:1 up from 7.5:1. Cylinder head was surfaced and checked, valves lapped in and its in good shape. APTfast TR-24 mild performance cam with new heavy duty lifters. New timing chain. Dual SU HS-4 carbs and intake manifold from a UK spitfire. Needles and springs changed to match the motor. 4-1 Patriot exhaust header, 1 3/4" midpipe to a 2" muffler. Pertronix ignition module in stock distributor, with matching flame thrower coil. New waterpump from a spitfire and manual bolt on cooling fan (no fan clutch) 3-row radiator, all hoses are a few years old with less than 6000 miles on them. Cable operated heater valve added with control at lower corner of passenger compartment for easy reach. 4 speed 3-rail Transmission has new syncros seals and gaskets installed. Rebuilt speedometer and cable. Clutch is in great shape with lots of life left in it, new clutch slave cylinder, clutch master is a few years old.

Brakes system was rebuilt a few years ago and has less than 6000 miles on it. This includes rebuilt calipers, new hoses front and rear, new pads, wheel cylinders, shoes and springs. Master cylinder is brand new. Parking brake linkages cleaned and rebuilt.

Suspension has been converted to tube shocks front and rear with kits from Frontline Developments. Front and rear kits eliminates lever shock. Fronts are replaced with stand alone upper control arm which has the attachment point for the tube shock and make -2 degrees camber to the front suspension for improved handling. Front shocks are AVO with adjustable dampening, rears are Spax with adjustable dampening. All bushings in the front and rear suspension are red poly. Steering rack new, 1.5 turns lock to lock. 155/80 R13 tires are new on stock rostyle rims with new MG emblems and beauty rings.

The interior has new carpet and a dash cap. The dash is in good shape and is from a 79. New mechless radio (no CD player) has AM/FM AUX input and will accept a USB memory stick and an SD card for MP3 playback. New 3.5" speakers in the front console and 6x9 pioneers in the rear. New rear panel made for the speakers. New cig lighter and socket. LED lighting for underdash footwells, and console.

New H4 headlamps with integrated LED park/turn signals. Good beam pattern and unobtrusive look. They are glass, not plastic. All rear lenses are new. Wiper motor cleaned and serviced, wiper transmission cleaned and greased. Wiper washer motor is a few years old and works, needs a new fluid bag and hoses.

I built this car as a driver, a good looking car you can jump in any time and go cruise. Its a clean simple setup in an unmolested car. The 1500 is lively and snappy, the suspension is firm yet comfortable, its a great lookin car and I've got nothing but compliments on it. Only things that need to be finished are the seats, they need to be reupholstered, and the speaker panel behind the seats needs to be covered. The top is in good shape with no tears or wear. The plastic windows are slightly brown on the edges but clean and clear still. Included is the tonneau cover and a cover for the top. Also included are 2 Midget thick rubber floor mats. The wiring in this car is clean and un-butchered.

So what you get is a clean car thats has pretty much everything gone through. Only things it needs as said before is the seats redone, and the speaker panel covered. Wiper washer hoses and a new fluid bag. If you really want to nitpick the carbs could be dialed in a bit more for cold weather drivability. But living on the west coast where its always sunny and warm, its not much of an issue.
