 History: The MG Car Company Limited was a former British sports car manufacturer founded in the 1920s by Cecil Kimber. Best known for its two-seat open sports cars, MG also produced saloons and coupes. Kimber was an employee of William Morris; MG stands for Morris Garages. The MG business was Morris's personal property until 1935 when he sold MG into his holding company, Morris Motors Limited, restructuring his holdings before issuing shares in Morris Motors to the public in 1936. MG has had various owners including British Leyland who owned them when my car was built.

My Auction: I will attempt to describe this fine automobile to the best of my ability. All used cars have flaws, especially 42 year old ones so please be realistic in your expectations. I will point out anything that stands out as I believe anyone who doesn't isn't being thorough with their auction. Please ask all questions BEFORE you bid. They come out much better then they do on Ebay and you can really get a feeling for the condition of the car. If Ebay disables the link simply cut and paste it to your browser.

Exterior Condition: This MG is simply stunning in bright red. The car really looks fantastic. It has an older respray on it that is holding up well and it is very shiny. It is not a $10,000 paint job but the car is a presentable driver. It has a few rust bubbles, knicks, and chips that I point to in some of the pictures. Overall there is very little rust on this car and none underneath. It is a very solid car. There are two dents. One is on the drivers side in front of the front door. It happened because the leather strap that holds the doors from opening too far is missing so you will want to replace that. There is also a small dent behind the passenger door I point to in one of the pictures. Really the only thing it needs is a new convertible top which I found on Ebay for $230.00. Other then being repainted this car has never been restored. As it stands I would replace the top and drive it to car shows. It looks great the way it is. If you want to restore it and make it perfect you can, this car is a perfect candidate for restoration but it just doesn't need it, it is such a nice driver as is.

Interior Condition: The interior has a nice patina to it but overall is in nice shape. The carpets are worn under the drivers floor mat and a little behind the seats. The seats and door panels don't have any rips but the dash has a couple tiny ones. Overall for an original interior this car looks fantastic. All of the gauges work expect the tachometer and the gas gauge. There is no radio and the heat blower doesn't turn on. All of the turn signals, lights, and wipers work. The squirter motor works for the wipers but it needs the hoses and bottle for the washer fluid.

Mechanically: My MG runs and drives great! And what a blast it is to drive!!! It sounds absolutely amazing, just so sporty and exotic! The best part is you can have all the fun you want with it and not use much gas. The carbs were rebuilt it 2008 and I do have receipts for this. That cost over $900.00 parts and labor. At that time a bunch of other work was done to the car totaling over $3000.00! I have taken pictures of these receipts. Also the carbs were cleaned again just this year. It has new front tires on it and the rear tires have good tread on them. The drivers door needs adjustment, you have to slam it to get it to close all the way. There is no spare tire.

Overall: For me convertibles are meant to be driven with the top down. Summer is almost here and this is a fun perfectly usable car as it is. The one thing it really needs is a new top if you are going to drive it in bad weather but the car is ready to be enjoyed as it stands and you can tinker with the small stuff as you go.

-I have a clean and clear Illinois title in my name.

-I have 4 keys for the car.

-The date was not set on my camera when I took the pictures, all pictures were taken over the last week at 2 different times.

-You can fly in and drive home if you want but keep in mind there is no spare, a hole in the top, and the heater doesn't work. (I live about 30 minutes from Chicago O'Hare and Chicago Midway).

-If you are having the car shipped I will assist your shipper with loading the car.

-Please don't contact me asking me my reserve price. It is unfair to other bidders. The car is priced to sell so if you want it get in the game and bid and have some fun! That's what owning an MG is all about: FUN FUN FUN! Also there is no "buy it now price," I am letting the auction run it's coarse.

-You are welcome to inspect and test drive my MG BEFORE you bid, feel free to bring your mechanic because I am not one.

-By bidding on my MG you are entering into a contract to purchase an automobile. This is not the first right of refusal.

-I require a $200 deposit via Paypal with 48 hours of auction close. You can pay the balance in one of two ways within 7 days. If you are picking up the car you can pay me CASH. This means you will be counting out greenbacks and I will be handing you the title and the keys. If you are having the car shipped you can pay with a bank to bank wire transfer. I will not accept any checks of any kind. You CANNOT pay the entire amount with Paypal, that is only for the deposit.
