1966 Mg Midget California Barn Find, brg Time Capsule In Valut For Over 3 Decades on 2040-cars
Canyon, California, United States
**********************************ESTATE SALE********************************* 1966 MG MIDGET CALIFORNIA BARN FIND IN STORAGE FOR NEARLY 30 YEARS RUNS LOW MILES ORIGINAL BRITISH RACING GREEN Up for bid is a 1966 MG Midget that has been in storage for close to 30 years This is California Barn Find that comes out of a Northern California Estate which had several classic cars including two other Midgets and a 260 AC Cobra` This car is a solid survivor and still has the original British Racing Green paint that was applied in Oxford England nearly 50 years ago. This is an ideal candidate for restoration as it is all original down to the real wire wheels and the nearly 50 year old A78/13 bias ply tires which even still hold air even thought the side walls are cracked and separating. This car is complete and in running condition and would be an easy cosmetic restoration. It has been off the road since the mid 1980's. We pulled the tank and was surprised how clean it is being stored with no fuel. We replaced the fuel line and blew out the carbs and changed the oil. It fired right up and sounds like a low mile engine with good compression. The car looks to have the original paint, the underside is very solid with no visabvle rust or any sign of any major collision damage. The front had a light tap on the hood and the grill is missing, it also had a minor ding on the rear other than that a original survivor would be an easy restoration. The front seats are worn out from lack of use but the original frames are still intact as well as the original convertible top which is complete but the top material is old and worn The steering wheel is frail but still intact. The thing that stands out on this original California car is underside, it is like a time capsule of a car that has had very little use in the last 48 years. It is amazing that the factory paint is still shiny on the floor of the car. These are very well kbnown for rusting and I see no evidence of any rust or any evidence of any previous collision damage or repair. This California car had little use the first 18 years of it's life and no use the last 30 years Comes with old style "Pink Slip" California title It still has wax pencil markings on the drive shaft tunnel from a factory worker 48 years ago Solid floors The paint is fading the most on the right rear quarter panel The floors are in amazing original condition The wheel well show nearly 50 year old California original British paint still sports nearly 50 year old Bias Ply tires
This car has very low miles, the car had not run in 30 years, we changed the oil and serviced the fuel system and the little 4 cylinder fired right up and sounded great. We only ran the engine for less than 60 seconds to see that it ran and were surprised on how well it did. It is a basisc little 4 cylinder but a great starting point and ideal cantidate for restoration. The carbs w.ill need to be rebuilt and the cooling system and brakes will need some attention but with new tires this car will run and drive we do have the original air cleaners and will come with the car
The seats are shot worn out from age, the wood frames are still intact and in good shape
Dont miss out on this rare California Barn Find being offered for a very low reserve
