1965 Mg Midget Vintage Race Car on 2040-cars
Portland, Oregon, United States
This 1965 MG Midget (chassis GAN 3L 46613) has been race regularly since 1985. SCCA and Vintage logbooks detail driving school events as early as 1979. I have owned the car for 11 years. During this time it’s proven very competitive with consistent SCCA, HMSA, and SOVREN class podium finishes, and back to back 1st and 2nd places at the 2014 May Double Vintage Regional at Portland International Raceway. It is very neutral handling, easy to drive and easy to work on. It is located in Kelso, Washington, or Portland, Oregon. The car’s race career began in the Midwest, and extensive history includes Elkhart, Blackhawk, Laguna Seca, Mission, Sears, T'hill and more. Log books back to 1979. It is powered by a 1275 Ward Barbour engine with three races since rebuild, it runs a Moldex billet crankshaft, Saenz connecting rods, Wiseco pistons, roller rockers, and APT VP8 cam, and a 45 DCOE Weber. It had 80 pounds of oil pressure following its last race outing. I use only Red Line Red Line synthetic oil. The engine is built from a correctly prepared, A+ block. Ward has 2 SCCA national championships with his Mini motors. The car has all proper upgrades including race spec hubs, spindles, axles, Accusump, fire system, etc, etc. Transmission in the car is a Jack Knight Dog box, Diff is a Salsbury 4.22. Spares too numerous to list but major components include a second LS Diff - Tranex 4.5, a Jon Stamps dog box tranny both ready to race. It also comes with race prepped SU carburetors . 10 Panasport wheels are included in the sale, with four Hoosier dry compounds used in two races, four Kumho wets and two spare drys. |
