1962 MG Midget with lots of new components. Has a fresh 1275 cc engine with new clutch. Has new brakes and brake lines, new dual master cylinder, new tires, battery and exhaust. New belt and hoses, and new paint.
Interior is good to new with new vinyl and carpeting and good seats with older seat covers in mostly good condition. Good original radiator. Good reconditioned fuel tank.
This car is registered and has a clear title, but not licensed for the road. Hence, essentially zero miles since near complete restoration. Garage kept and not rained on or smoked in while I've owned it. Driven only on my private drive for the purpose of testing and sorting.
This car cranks easily and runs good, brakes work good, the emergency brake works, and the transmission shifts easily. The combination gauge works properly. The lights and turn signals work. The other dash instruments need attention. The fuel gauge works when tested, but does not register the fuel. (The fuel sending unit was cleaned and repaired and reconditioned but is apparently not transmitting.) Neither the speedometer nor tachometer are connected. The tachometer is mismatched to the car.
The car includes spare tire, correct jack, side curtains (needing the rubber seals) acccessory luggage rack (minimal surface rust), older but useable tonneau, and the top bows. It does not include the fabric top.
It needs the fabric top, replacing the rubber seals on the side curtains, attention to the dash gauges, and a gentle breaking-in period to sort out any undiscovered issues associated with most any little British car restoration. The front shocks are a little spongy, but work OK. In other words, you could drive it around the block, but good sense precludes driving it any significant distance till it proves itself. So, if you're looking for a decent little sports car to restore and drive, why spend all that time and money on a complete redo when you can have a driveable car now that needs only a little attention to be complete?
Why am I parting with it? I'm getting too old to lie under cars anymore and I have several other fun vehicles to enjoy. This vehicle is located about 35 miles NW of Charlotte, NC. Prospective bidders are encouraged to come see the car in person. No warranty explicit or implied. No credit, no partial trade, no personal checks. Cash or certified US bank check accepted. The successful bidder must make a non-refundable PayPal deposit of $200. within 72 hours of the close of the auction and complete payment within 14 days. Car must be picked up not more than 30 days after the close of the auction. Title will be transferred only when all payment funds have cleared. E-mail any questions and I will answer honestly and as quickly as I can.
