MG: MGB GT - 1967

Listing a nice MGBGT. This is a Mk1, steel dash model. MGB Mk1 models have no 'reverse lamps' and use an early gearbox which does not have synchro into 1st gear.

This example has very rare, but proper, British Motor Corporation (BMC) dealer-installed air-conditioning. The fan blows, but the air is not cold. The compressor and all the fittings are original. The original BMC A/C Operating Manual and original 'dash placard are still with the car.

This car has the proper and original BMC AM radio and the original operator's manual is included.

The interior was refurbished awhile back and presents in very good condition. The seat upholstery is vinyl, and done correctly. Seat squabs have been replaced. The original seat belts, front and rear, are present and in good order. The door panels are original and in very good order. Carpeting was replaced. Headliner and rear panels are excellent. Dash crash panel is excellent. The steering wheel is original (proper spoked), and in good condition. All gauges are working properly. All lights are working properly.

The engine is quite sound - no smoke, good oil pressure, proper operating temperature. Nothing in the engine bay has been modified. Although it is a bit aged, it is proper. The clutch is very good with no slipping. The gearbox presents a worn synchro from 1st - 2nd, as is often the case in a Mk1. Otherwise, it functions as it should. Brakes are good. Tires and tubes are brand-new. Wire wheels are true. The suspension is tight, there is no slop.

The body is quite good. The paint is an older respray and has a nice shine, but has been touched-up along the fender seams and a few other areas. There is a small hole in the passenger footwell (refer to photo). There is a hole inside the front left fender well (see photo). There was a small rust bubble in the left rocker which I chipped away to reveal a hole (see photo). There was a bI t of surface corrosion on the surface of the passenger door (see photo). Otherwise, I do not see any other rust concerns. The brightwork and trim are in good condition. The body seals are good, with the exception of the upper door window seals, which are worn (see photo). Front and rear window seals are good and the proper stainless inserts are present.

The State of Florida title documents (and the odometer indicates) 43+k miles but, because I am not the original owner, I cannot be certain this is accurate. I have an assortment of magazines, articles and relevant materials to accompany the sale.

I have owned many MGs through the years and consider this a very good example. It is a 'refinished' car, not a restored one and, as such, will make a good and reliable daily-driver. Sad to do it but, I must sell due to failing health (MSA). Of course I will be happy to answer any questions you may have, and would appreciate any inquiries prior to your bid.
