Hello!

You are bidding on a 1977 MgB with the sixties style chrome bumper conversion. This particular B is a California car and has absolutely no rust with the exception of some scratches in the paint. Structurally the vehicle is very straight and solid with no filler or hidden "repairs". It is currently a daily driver and does 25 miles a day with Swiss watch regularity. It just sailed through smog on the 22nd of August so as long as you register inside of 90 days you will not be required to smog.

The brakes on this B have just been serviced with new rear cylinders and a full brake bleed. Rear drums and front discs pair with a powered dual reservoir master cylinder. The car stops dead straight with no pull and has a surprisingly modern capability of stopping on one shining copper penny. The suspension has just had a go through with new poly bushings in the a arms, sway bars and all this with a fresh lube in the kingpins. The car is happiest is sharp turns and will go through the paces with no issues. There is no lean or rattle. Steering is concise with no play in the wheel. The "disc" style 1960s Mg wheels (which are freakishly rare and near impossible to find even on ebay intl) are currently wrapped in brand new tires with less than 500 miles on them.

The 1.8 litre inline 4 cylinder was rebuilt for the previous owner and barks through a brand new exhaust system. The catalytic converter was replaced with a factory replacement unit and a fresh downpipe carries backwards to the turbo muffler. The system terminates with a straight exit pipe fitted tightly to the rear valance. The tone is a reserved burble that grows to a healthy buzz as the revs climb. The system is literally a month old so that should last you 15 years or so. The engine was just looked after by a british auto specialist here in San Diego and was fitted with a freshly rebuilt EGR pump. The carb was also cleaned/tuned and the ignition timing adjusted. This car averages 22-29 mpg and runs cleaner than a washing machine. There is a small leak that leaves a drop now and then but its pretty minimal.

As was mentioned the car is rust free except for a few scratches around the top clips. The top on this convertible is in need of replacement. If the car doesn't sell this week then I will have it replaced (the price will go up). All glass is tidy and the windshield is free of any scratches or chips/cracks. The paint is a presentable olympic white but does have scratches and some trim holes. It would need a respray to be show worthy but if you want a driver and not a show car than the paint could wait a few years. The interior is clean but does have some issues. The previous owner had cut holes in the door cards for speakers, the carpet is clean but is getting tatty and the seat covers are starting to show age (as you can see in the pictures). The engine bay needs a good cleaning/detailing and could benefit from those flash polished valve covers and air filters.

The Cd player has an aux in for your Ipod/cellphone and all instrumentation works well! This car is an excellent candidate for someone looking for a car that is ready to drive home and can use some attention to putting a shine on it. This car is 35+ years old.
