Here's a toy I picked up recently and just don't have time to work on it. It was parked in 01 by the previous owner after an altercation with local law enforcement while intoxicated.
I put a battery in it and found the following.
The timing cover is cracked and is leaking antifreeze.
It started right up but there was no oil pressure. I primed the pump but still nothing. I suspect the pump or pickup has a problem. I did a compression test and it has 155 lbs in all 6 cylinders.Judging by the sound of the engine there is no lower end problem and the camshaft is not stock. I did not run it long so this is just speculation.
Holly intake , valve covers and 4 bbl carb. Custom made headers with exhaust all the way to the rear bumper. I suspect the motor is not stock. Automatic transmission. Everything looks like it was done properly , the previous owner told me the car handles well and is extremely fast. I wish I had time to play with it.
Body is solid with just a few spots of rust. The trunk lid needs adjustment as it doesn't quite line up properly. There is a spot on the hood that needs repair also.It does not appear to have been wrecked. Floors are solid , it is an Arizona desert car so rust is very minimal. The windshield is cracked but I have purchased 5 other MGB's from the same guy and if there is a good glass on one of them I will work with the new owner to purchase one at a fair price.
Tires need replaced as it has sat in the sun a long time. Three look real good , one has dry rotted and will not air up.The top needs replaced also. The top framework is in good shape and works properly.
Put a set of tires on her , replace the timing cover and get oil pressure and have some serious fun. Tops for this start at $159, Carpet is cheap too. This car really does not need much.
Local pickup only , I will assist any transport you contract with. I will store the car a reasonable amount of time for free. Not a year tho. Car must be paid for at end of auction unless other arrangements are made in advance
If you have questions or want to see the car in person just email me and I will respond.
I expect a $500 deposit to my paypal account art auction end should this sell with the balance due at pick up or within 7 days of end of auction , certified funds only....Postal Money order.
Clear AZ title waiting to transfer to your name.
This should be a fun project with not much needed to get her going again.
Good Luck !!
