1978 MGB
Roadster – Rare color combo and trim; in very original, excellent condition
The classic MGB
survived from 1963 through 1980, a 17-year run that rivals any sports car. It
went through many iterations, with the last version incorporating some changes
that made the car safer (seatbelts, impact bumpers, for example).
This 1978
model (one of the last), besides being an outstanding, very original, low
mileage example, received some cosmetic upgrades that make it even more attractive.
This “B” is powered by a 4 cylinder, cast iron engine that, in a 2,100 pound
car, provides power for sports car cruising combined with excellent fuel
economy (over 30 mpg). It features a 4-speed, synchromesh transmission, front
disc brakes, anti-roll bar, rack & pinion steering, tachometer & full gauges.
It drives beautifully with tight, precise
handling and cornering, and no rattles.
The body is rust free and straight, the excellent Honey Tan color interior sets
off the rich, wood panel dash and console treatment (an expensive aftermarket option);
the soft top is brand new. The trunk is fully lined in Honey Wool (another
costly option). There are no cracks in the dash, tears in the seats, door panels or top.
The car is painted in the original Russet Brown shade which is nicely complemented by factory Gold side stripes. Wheels are factory “Rostyle” in
matching Gold w/ chrome rings that really set off the car. At some point, the car was repainted as original, but did not require restoration. In other words, this was
not a restored rusty car.
The beauty of this car is that everything works, from the directionals, headlights, running lights,
interior lights, gauges, horns, etc. It features twin powerful electric fans
helps keep her cool, even in heavy traffic. For your listening pleasure, the
cheap AM radio the importer installed has been replaced with an AM/FM Stereo with CD without damaging or altering the interior.
This is excellent, very original example of a desirable, collectible
sports car you can drive every day, “fully sorted” as the Brits say, with no
expense spared to make it look and drive right . For more information or partial exchanges, please call Michael at
