1967 MGB Roadster Vintage Race Car

Presented for your consideration, the opportunity to acquire an immediately usable, fun vintage race car. Log books are not present though we are searching.  Any assistance is appreciated.

If you were attending auto races in the Southern California area 30 years ago, you likely saw this car on the track winning races in it’s class.  Still adorned with winning dash plaques from races won in the 80’s, this original metal dash MGB race car was a well known track terror.  

This is the Charles Gillespie racing SCCA car based out of San Diego California.

The car is a time capsule.  Freshly refurbished after 20 some years of indoor storage, and still true to it’s period, this vintage racer is equally appealing to the eye and the seat of the pants.

In preparation for racing, this MGB was severely lightened and strengthened for road course duty including the following:

• Vintage front suspension mods are in place

• Aluminum firewall stiffening plate

• 8 point roll bar assembly

• Aft mounted battery

• Minimal dash and gauges

• Fuel cell

• 9”x13” Chrome wheels

• (5) fresh 20” Avon slicks, (4 mounted, 1 spare)

• Fender flares

• Lightweight racing seat

• Period safety harness

• Pinned fiberglass hood and trunk

• Gutted and pinned lightweight doors remain in place

• Aero windscreen

• Momo steering wheel

• Built MGB engine

• Side draft Weber carb

• Header

• 4 speed close ratio trans

• SuperTrap tunable exhaust

• Electric radiator fan

This great MG wears a fiberglass lower pan and fenders along with a urethane flexible front fascia.  Floors and pans are solid and glassed for additional rigidity. Gorgeous bright red paint with gold stripes, mesh headlights and grill complete the look and make this MG a real head turner.

The car was just entered in our local autocross event for shakedown runs,...the first in over 20 years,... and performed like the champ she is. The tech inspectors were wowed at seeing a vintage car in this shape and the inspection took just a few minutes.  They found everything in perfect order and we proceeded to the track without delay.
