I am selling my 1966 MGB roadster. This is the same make/model that was featured on Jerry Sienfeld's show "Comedians in Cars". On the show Jerry described it as "the most purely classic expression of sports car-ness ever.” I would have to agree! I have loved having this car and it is a blast to drive. However, since having a child I have found that it isn't practical for me since I can't take the whole family for rides and I don't have as much time as I would like. I hate to sell it, but I think someone else could really enjoy this car.
I purchased this car in Minnesota where it belonged to an elderly man (in his 80's) who had hoped it would take him back to his youth. He only drove it a couple times because it scared him. Before that I don't know any of the history. As far as I can tell all the numbers match on this car and the mileage is completely original. The vehicle numbers are as follows: VIN: GHN3L85430 ENGINE: 18GBUH37011 BODY: MGB079657 The previous owner had some repairs done at a British car shop to make it road worthy. They replaced the fuel tank and pump as well as the exhaust. When I bought the car it was in road worthy condition. Since owning it I have also done some work/upgrades. I have replaced the generator since it still had the original. I also put a new starter in since the original seemed weak. I played around with the idea of converting it to negative ground but decided to leave it positive ground. It has been converted to one 12v battery instead of two 6v. I put in a new auxiliary input and center speaker so I could listen to music. Along with the door speakers already installed it puts out decent sound. The input is hidden under the dash so it doesn't take away from the look of the classic interior. I also added an accessory power outlet that is hidden under the dash as well. I have taken all the gauges apart and cleaned them as well as put new bulbs in. All of them work properly. I replaced the headlights with a brighter set for night driving. The wipers work as does the blower motor. I installed new door locks for added security. Finally, I replaced the windshield, which is no little task. The rest of the glass in the car is good although there are some scratches on the drivers side window. I never had them up so it didn't bother me. This car comes with the original tonneau cover as well as a new soft top. It has the full frame which is attached to the car. I never used the full top because I only drove when it was nice and it is a pain to put up. It has painted wire wheels which look good. The spokes are in good shape and I have had them balanced so the car drives straight without vibration. It also comes with a full spare as well. The chrome knock offs are in average condition. It also has a cover in the trunk. This car has the 5 main bearing engine with three gear synchromesh. Everything shifts great and it has plenty of get up. Although it doesn't have overdrive, I found that is really seems to smooth out nicely around 70 mph. I replaced all the fluids and did not see any signs of extreme wear. I put the newer oil filter adapter on instead of the original to make oil changes painless. The engine seems to use a little oil, but there are no visible leaks. I always checked it before driving and never had a problem. The oil pressure is good and it never overheated. The rear differential has a small leak which seems common on this type and age of vehicle. Overall the body is good condition. There are some scratches and pits from 48 years of driving. Please look at all the pictures closely. From a few feet away the car looks great, but it has its blemishes. It isn't rusted out and really is a solid car. In summary I would say this is a solid daily driver that is a lot of fun to drive and still turns heads. I had many people stop me to talk about it and it always got looks. If you are looking for a fun little car this is perfect. If you want to do small projects on an entry level car just for a hobby this is the car for you. If you want to own a classic sports car and really restore it, it would make a great project for that as well. I have tried to give a complete and honest description, but please contact me with any questions and I will do my best to answer them. I can include the original parts that I have as well as any other extra books, etc. if interested. This car is offered for local pickup or buyer must arrange and pay for all shipping costs. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of close of auction through PayPal. Remainder of balance is due within 1 week of purchase by cashiers check or money order. All sales are final with no refunds. On Mar-02-14 at 00:13:37 PST, seller added the following information: I am selling my 1966 MGB roadster. This
