First off, I am selling this wonderful automobile for a friend of mine. I will attempt to get all questions answered in a timely manner. A $500 PayPal deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction end and the balance must be cash, no checks (cashier or otherwise), no money orders, nothing but cash. If another form of payment is needed the details must be worked out prior to bidding and prior to the end of the auction otherwise only cash will be accepted. All forms of payment must clear the bank prior to the car leaving the premises.
I suggest any interested bidders come inspect the car prior to bidding, just e-mail to set up a time to come out.
This 1966 MGB has always been an Atlanta, GA car owned by three people all of whom knew each other. The first owner owned it till '77, the second till '91 and then you have the current owner, a friend of mine.
Here is what the owner of the car has to say;
"The car was bought at Hix Green in Atlanta.
The mileage showing (around 300) on the odometer is the total amount I've driven it since I reworked it around 1991/1992.
The engine seemed fine. I think the head was reworked or replaced around the time the second owner got it, 1978 or earlier? I have the other head.
The car may have never "lived" outside. I know it's been in a garage since the second owner got it.
The exhaust system (stock) is new from the manifold back.
The sill plates are new. The horn button is new. All rubber in the doors, and around windows is new. What a pain that was!
It is a 12 volt, positive ground car (original) although they came with two six volt batteries I changed it over to one twelve volt battery which will fit into one of the two battery "holes".
The 1966 model MGB is the last year with a non-synchronized first gear.
I rebuilt the fuel pump way back when. When I put a little effort into getting it running about five years ago it didn't seem to be pumping. One of the MG sites says that changing over to one of those little "Facet" pumps works like a charm. At one point that was the same pump that's recommended for the little tractors and it worked with positive or negative ground systems. If I were going to do that now I'd call the company for up-to-date input.
The clutch was stuck to the flywheel when I got the car but a guy told me how to make it easily turn loose once the car was running. It worked like a charm but it's bound to be stuck again right now. Certainly it will turn loose as easily again.
The top has been up a number of times since I've had the car. There's also a tonneau cover.
The only "Bondo" will be in the area of the left rear wheel, my doing. There was a crease back there. I pulled it out and "smoothed" it.
About half the "chrome" strips are new.
The generator and voltage regulator were checked and reworked, or replaced, by that Auto Electric place down near Kennestone.
The paint is DuPont with hardener. It was mixed to code, "British Racing Green", at Autocolor.
Upper tail light sections are new. Clutch master cylinder was rebuilt. The tires have less that 300 miles on them but, of course all this was done 20 years ago."
In November 2012 my friend needed to move some things so we agreed to bring the car to my house and put it in my shop for the short term on the agreement we would get it running. Well, life got in the way, I have kids and he has other responsibilities. We just never got around to tinkering with the car and so it has sat. I need the bay in my shop back and my friend doesn't really want to store the car another 20 years so here it is, on eBay.
I hope the pictures speak for themselve but if you have any question please ask. Due to the 24 picture limit on eBay more pictures can be found on my photobucket account @ http://s291.photobucket.com/user/psrumors/library/MGB.
The car has not been started or driven in 20+ years. It is sold as is where is and the buyer should be prepared to pick the car up within 5 days of end of auction.
