In September 1962 the BMC (British Motor Corporation) launched their replacement for the MGA sports car. The MGB was larger and more comfortable and weighed in at a basic price of £690. The MGB proved popular thanks to its top speed of a heady 103 mph, overall fuel consumption of 28 mpg and an affordable price. Competition at the time came mainly from the Rootes factory with the Sunbeam Alpine, which was not quite so fast or economical. Competition also came in the shape of the pretty Triumph TR4 which was slightly faster although more thirsty on fuel.

In 1974, both roadster and GT (including the V8) had received the black “5mph” bumpers and an increase in ride height, in much the same way as the Midget had done. The front bumper was shaped to merge into the grille which at least had a token resemblance to the earlier traditional shape.

Late 1976-1980 cars were fitted with rear anti-roll bars which restored most of the B’soriginal handling, revised dashboards and garish striped cloth seats. Other changes included modified rear lights, and Rostyle sculpted steel wheels. There was also a change to SU HIF carburettors in an effort to improve the exhaust emissions problem.

The white exterior and black interior show very well. Showing 43,225 miles. Includes black vinyl soft top, soft top cover, and full black tonneau cover. This car runs and drives well, very solid on the road and very solid throughout. This example has been well kept, this car is sure to please!
