For sale is my 1962 MGA MK II. The car has been completely restored top to bottom. Everything is either new or reconditioned. The car comes with all original equipment, except the transmission, and will include the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate. The price also includes four optional wheels with new tires mounted. I am the fourth owner of the car. The original owner sold it in 1968 to the gentleman who owned it the longest. He owned it for 40 years until a buddy of mine bought it from his widow. In a trade, I acquired the car from him. I've owned the car for three years and did all the work or had it done by professional car restoration craftsmen specializing in vintage MGs.
The car comes with the original rebult 1622cc engine attached to a synchronized Ford Sierra (type 9) 5 speed gearbox from Hi-Gear Engineering, England. The original transmission will go with the car and is included in the auction price. The car is set up for European lighting with third-brake light on license surround. It comes equipped with PenTronix electronic ignition. The interior was purchased from Scarbrough Faire. The seats are a combination of leather and vinyl as original to the car. There is also a two-port power adapter for a GPS. Electric has been converted to a single, negative ground 12v system with modified battery box.
The engine was completely balanced and blueprinted. It has a spin-on type oil filter. The carbs were professionally restored. It has a high performance cam for better response off the line. It has a stainless steel exhaust system. There is no bondo on the car anywhere. All original steel; doors, bonnet, and boot are all aluminum as original. It also has the original side curtains, tonneau cover, jack, and tommy bar. It comes with a tool kit but not the original.
The car has been driven to sort out the bugs and on local events with the Kansas Cith MG Car Club. I own multiple MGAs and the sale of this car will allow the restoration of a 1956 MGA Coupe. The other MGA I own, a 1960 1600 roadster which I restored, won Best In Class at the MG 2006 in Gatlinburg, TN. I'm planning on listing it as soon as this auction is concluded. My wife drives a 1951 Judson supercharged MGTD, winner of multiple local and national awards.
Buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. Buyer is also responsible for paying paypal for money transfer. Car is sold as is/where is, no warrenty expressed or implied. The car is being offered locally. I reserve the right to end auction up to the point the reserve is met. If the reserve is met, the car will sell on ebay.
