Hi I'm selling my 1955 MGA, yes it was built in Jan of 56 but its registered as a 1955.  ID plate #HDA43/12789 shows it was originally black as it is now.  I bought this car three years ago and have really enjoyed it but I've got a MGB GT project I'm starting and this one has to go.  Its a solid driver quality car, I drive it several times a week, weather permitting, using it to run errands.  It has a good 5 to 10 foot paint job on it, fine for a driver and looks very good but its by no means perfect.  Solid frame and body, it has had the doglegs repaired at some point in its past but otherwise it looks as if its had no other metalwork done on it and is in good condition.  Doors, hood and trunk shut solid and straight.  Trunk floor solid and rustfree.  Runs and drives out very well.  It has a 1500 engine in it but I bought a 1600 engine and transmission and a 3 main MGB 1800 block with crank, rods and pistons that go with the car.  I was going to build the 1800 to go in the car but my interests have changed and  thus the reason for this sale.  Also has a new top and new side curtains (not installed, they came with the car when I bought it and I didn't buy a convertible to drive it with the top up)  Carpet is in great shape, seats and rails show wear.  Still has the original wiring harness and is still positive ground.  I have worked on these cars for many years and used to work at a British car garage in Memphis and really enjoy working on them.  Ok here is a list of stuff I've done to it while I've owned it; New tires and tubes, rebuild brake and clutch master cylinder, rebuild front wheel cylinders and replace front shoes, replace front wheel bearings and seals, new brake light switch, new LR splined hub and seals, new rear trans seal, spin-on oil filter adapter, belt, hoses, thermostat, fan shroud, Grose jets in carbs, NOS Lucas 25D distributor, cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs, adjust carbs, adjust valves, change all fluids several times and just the normal things you do to any car you drive.  I installed a Philips AM/FM/SW/LW radio that works great and works on positive or negative ground.  It has a switch on the back of it to change how you have the car wired and I got it here on Ebay from a guy in Greece.  I wanted a radio but not a modern one.  Gauges work fine, it has the original fuel gauge and temp-oil pressure gauges with the early MGA faces on them.  I have the original Tach too that is included but this engine (not original) doesn't have a tach drive on it and the previous owner installed a positive ground early MGB tach which works fine.  I sent the original speedo out to be repaired but it was lost in shipment and I haven't found a early MGA speedo but I did find a NOS Smiths speedo for a Hillman Minx that fits the dash and even looks pretty close to the original and reads correctly.  PO had installed a matching MGB speedo with the tach bit it read about 45% too fast.  PO bought it in August of 94 and did the brakes, battery, tail lights and tag lights, carpet and floor mats, paint, grill, fender welting, trunk seal, I haven't done any body work to it. Car is located in Haleyville, AL.  Local inspections are welcome and encouraged.  $1000.00 deposit by PayPal required within 24 hours and balance in Ben Franklins when picking up car.  Buyer is responsible for picking up car and all costs associated with transporting car.  Its "as is where is".  NAMGAR# 7351  I reserve the right to end this listing at any time as this is for sale locally and subject to be sold at any time.  I'll answer questions as quickly as possible.  Thanks for looking and reading all this!
