Hi, I am offering for sale my personal Caterham car. This was built in 2011. It is a Roadsport 170, so it used a stock Duratec 2L Ford engine which puts out about 170-175 hp. The body style is the slightly larger SV style, which is the preferred size for anyone larger (as in taller and/or wider). The SV includes a larger pedal box.

The build of the car is documented here-
http://www.britishspeed.com/gallery3...uild-SV-S3-170

This car is not for sale in California as I can't guarantee a registration there.

There was a small mishap with this car where it was run into while stopped and the rear end of the car was rebuilt. While we had it in the race shop, everything was gone over and in fact, many things were improved from the factory build. The driveshaft was trued and balanced. They added new adjustments to the rear differential for better alignment. Brakes were gone over and improved. The car drives very well. The engine is very strong.

Original cost to me to build this car was north if $55,000. It has a little over 1500 miles on it and the engine is VERY strong. There is some minor body damage on the very rear and very front from my being really stupid with a trailer. Otherwise it is perfect. Full weather gear. Leather seats. No heater (but one could be added). 5 speed gearbox. Added rear brake light to rollbar. Custom brackets for rear lights and custom license plate bracket.

Factory options-
SV size
LSD differential
Leather Seats
4 point track harnesses
Black package
Black Aero gas filler
Upgraded track rollbar
Starter button
Carbon Fiber Dash
Full paint with custom nose band and stripe (Almost a $4000 option)

Extra options (I added)
Wide view mirror
Tunnel storage bag
Toneau cover
Custom rear light brackets
Custom rear license plate frame with Carbon Fiber frame
Added 3rd brake light to roll bar. Professionally done!
Powder coated aluminum intake manifold
3m Film on nose
CF rock guards on rear wings (you need these!)
CF door sill covers

I can help arrange shipping.

To buy this same car new now, would be over $60K.  We built this as the dealer for Caterham in California and the build was done expertly.  There are only a couple minor blemishes that I chose to ignore, a small bit of body damage as shown in the picture of the rear of the car and a bit on the front.  Easily fixed and the reason the car is heavily discounted.

If you have no experienced what it is like to drive a Caterham, please do so.  Drive one!  It is amazing and therapeutic. Nothing like driving one of these on a country road.

Please no low ball offers.  This is a great deal at this price.  There are new price lists of Caterhams that were given to the dealers and these relatively new cars in great shape are going to the way to go.  Any price lower than what I am asking, I will just hang on to the car.  The reason for selling is that I am negotiating to purchase another car and I need the garage space and wallet space.

Ignore the listed VIN.  Ebay requires a VIN of some sort so I had to put in my minivan. :)   This Caterham is not registered yet.  It can be easily registered in most states (other than California).  I can supply original Manufacturer Certificate of Origin (MSO) and receipts for car, engine, and gearbox.  Thanks!

Lotus F1 Team reveals new E23 Hybrid

Mon, Jan 26 2015

Lotus is keen to leave a lackluster 2014 Formula One World Championship campaign behind it and race forward towards a new era, and this is the car with which it hopes to do so. The new E23 Hybrid is the twenty-third chassis to come from the Enstone-based team. As with the new Williams that was the first new chassis revealed for this year, the principal difference you can see is the more conventional nose to replace the twin-tusk setup of the E22, but there's more to it than that. For starters, it's the first new Lotus to pack Mercedes power after the team parted ways with Renault – the manufacturer that used to own the team and which has powered every car the team has built since Benetton signed with the French automaker way back in 1995. It also packs a completely new suspension setup after the original FRIC design in the preceding E22 was banned mid-season, forcing Enstone engineers to go back to the drawing board halfway through the championship. Word has it that, after earlier rumors suggested the team might not even make it back onto the grid, new sponsors will be added before the season gets under way in Melbourne on March 15 with the Australian Grand Prix. To pilot the new car, Lotus has retained the same two drivers as last year in Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado. The team is hoping to perform better this season than it did the last, when it finished the constructors' championship way down in eighth place – the same result it achieved in 2009 under Renault ownership and the worst it had performed since the Toleman days in 1983.

Lotus Type 132 electric crossover spotted testing in China

Mon, Feb 14 2022

Thanks to Carscoops, we know that Weibo Chinese social media user Ductile Iron BX spotted a Lotus Type 132 prototype testing on Chinese roads. This is the vehicle that will inaugurate the English sports car maker's transition to a battery-electric future and its future as a purveyor of crossovers, the once dirty word among the light-and-simple crowd that's just too profitable to ignore. In profile, the long, low roof makes the Type 132 look more like a jacked-up Allroad-style wagon than a traditional crossover. The heavy camo can't hide the jutting tail that holds a deployable spoiler. Those regular-sized wheels look good, but they don't fill the arches that way we've come to expect from speedy SUVs; we won't be surprised if larger rims appear on the debut model, with an option for even larger rims. The treatment of the rear quarter glass, which looks like a vent, is a neat touch. We know black drapery hides other touches like an active lower grille, its hexagonal mesh peppered with panels that twirl open to provide the right combination of powertrain cooling and vehicle aerodynamics, and some kind of sensor unit rising from the roof. Nor can the camouflage hide the sharp lines throughout, from the concave front fascia to the arced rear fenders to the dramatic rear bumper. This could be a good looking start to Lotus' people-hauler era. The Type 132 is expected to debut this spring, riding on the firm's Evolution Architecture for premium vehicles and featuring 800-volt electrics and a battery with a possible 120-kilowatt capacity. Lotus has said the crossover will reach 60 miles per hour in under 3. seconds, an estimate that probably refers to the dual-motor version that might put out as much as 750 horsepower. Even though the Type 132's place in the luxury segment will see it lined up against entries like the Aston Martin DBX and Porsche Cayenne, this being the first super-sporty CUV from this OEM, it will undoubtedly spend the early part of its life thrown into battles with the Tesla Model X. Race recap: 2015 Singapore Grand Prix full of odd sideshows

Mon, Sep 21 2015

What greeted the Formula One teams in Singapore? Confusion. The haze was so thick that observers wondered if the race would be held at all. Then practices began, and Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver Nico Rosberg took the first one, but the team fell away after that. Mercedes said it couldn't get the tires turned on, but no one believed the Silver Arrows was in genuine trouble. Then qualifying set the confusion in stone. Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel laid down the best time in Q3, taking the team's first pole position since Germany in 2012. Daniel Ricciardo got his Infiniti Red Bull Racing into second, about one tenth behind Vettel. (That may make the team feel better after Ricciardo publicly asked for a better engine than the current Renault unit, and team advisor Helmut Marko said the outfit will quit F1 at the end of this year if it can't get a stronger powerplant for 2016.) Kimi Raikkonen put the second Ferrari in third, Daniil Kvyat put the second Red Bull in fourth. And only then came the Meredes'. Lewis Hamilton's best got him fifth, the Brit saying, "We don't really know what we have got wrong. For some reason the tires are not working on the car. We do the warm-up the same as everyone else and then you see someone one second up the road." For added emphasis on the reversal of fortune, his time was 1.6 seconds behind Vettel's. Teammate Rosberg is next to him in sixth, a further half a second back. Williams is still a hurting a bit on slow tracks, so Valtteri Bottas could only get into seventh ahead of Max Verstappen in the Toro Rosso and teammate Felipe Massa in ninth. When the red lights went out, the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix would get both less interesting and more interesting all the way to the final lap. The men up front got good getaways, and the order into Turn 1 was Vettel, Ricciardo, and Raikkonen. The race finished with those three in that order, never having conceded position. Vettel's Ferrari enjoyed the track so much that he laid a second per lap into Ricciardo for the first five, then relaxed. He'd let the gap come down later in the race a couple of times, but any time he wanted to see what his mirrors looked like without anyone in them he'd take off again. Rosberg took fourth position after holding down sixth for the first stint. It looked like he'd have an even worse day - for a Mercedes driver - when he had problems getting his car started and onto the grid before the race.
