San Rafael, California, United States
1970 lotus europa S2 project: you are looking at a complete 1970 europa with a very large supply of 1969 europa parts. i purchased the car on 5/28/2013 from a man in southern california. apparently he had a 1969 lotus europa that he wrecked and then he purchased this car in 1982 and installed the engine from the '69 europa. he told me that the engine (renault R-16) was rebuilt and has 9000 miles on it. the amazing part is that he owned the car for over 30 years and from what he told me and what his neighbor confirmed, the car sat in his garage for the entire time !!! he purchased the car, changed the engine and started restoring the body for paint and then it just sat in his garage...... i intended on restoring the car for historic racing but i have become involved in a large project that requires all of my resources and garage space so it must go. the car needs a restoration, but it is complete and comes with all the parts he took off the wrecked '69. this car does not have any rust that i could find. body is in good shape (the guy filled the bumper holes and the door handles) i have the original all the glass is good great seats the master cylinder is missing, but other than that everything looks complete. the extra parts list is extensive: 2 complete engines 2 complete transmissions extra electronics, gauges, lights complete front and rear suspension front and rear brakes cooling system some interior pieces from the '69 trunk box complete passenger side door front air dam bumpers gas tank and sending unit, starter, alternators, distributors, carburetor, heater unit, hub caps misc nuts and bolts On Dec-02-13 at 21:49:42 PST, seller added the following information:shipping the car: the car rolls easily and i am willing to box up the parts fof shipping rust: this car looks to be rust free. i say this because i can not find any rust on the frame or any other parts other than slight surface rust. On Dec-03-13 at 21:22:04 PST, seller added the following information:I WAS ASKED ABOUT THE OWNERSHIP HISTORY: i believe i know all of the ownership history with the exception of the name of the original owner. anyway, here is what i know. owner one lived in illinois, purchased the car in late 1971 owned the car until 1978 when he sold it to a man also in illinios who owned the car until 1981, he apparently painted the car silver with a blue stripe and ultimately sold it to a guy who lived in tustin california, i spoke to him and he says he owned the car for about a year and then he sold it to the guy from orange california in 1982. i bought it from the 4th owner, that makes me the fifth owner. |

Listen to the Lotus Evora 400 make lovely noises
Sat, Jul 16 2016Automakers roll out loads of video content these days, but they often do so much editing and add so much background music that you miss out on the best stuff. With this video, Lotus shows they know what's important. This video shows Lotus's Evora 400 spending some time out on their test track in Hethel. The video is quite short and consists mostly of some onboard footage, but Lotus clearly invested in the sound recording. This Evora's 400 horsepower, supercharged V6 sounds brilliant as it screams around the course. We'll be getting a version of this car in the States this year. Lotus intends on selling the fittingly named Evora Sport 410 (for its 400 horse output) in America. It's possible we may see a lower-end model as well without the supercharger or with a smaller engine. No matter what though, great-sounding Lotuses are in our future. Lotus teases its sleek Type 130 electric hypercar
Tue, Apr 16 2019Lotus has shown a teaser image of a new concept, which will usher in the automaker's electric era. The Type 130 hypercar concept will be shown later this year in London, but this aerodynamic teaser is the first glimpse at its shapely flanks. The Type 130 is said to be in "advanced stages of development." According to Lotus, the Type 130 will spawn a production version, which will be the brand's first all-new vehicle in 11 years. It will be partially bankrolled by Lotus' parent company, the Chinese carmaker Geely, which also owns Volvo. Despite that, the hypercar will not be built in China, but in England. An earlier Autocar article estimated the eventual price at around $2.6 million. Last month, news broke that Lotus is also bringing another new car to market, but that one is likely to retain internal combustion technology along with engineering ties to older Lotus architecture, as it forms a sort of "bridge" between current Lotus products and its future cars. Hence, it can't be called "all-new" in the same sense as a fully electric halo model can. Lotus also noted some of its "firsts" when informing the media of the upcoming concept, which it calls "the world's first full-electric British hypercar." The 1995 Elise was the world's first aluminum and bonded extrusion construction production car, while the 1957 Elite was a production first in the sense that it first brought the composite monocoque within the reach of customers. Between those, there was a lot of groundbreaking F1 knowhow: ground effects for the '77 Type 78 F1 car, carbon fiber for the '81 Type 88, and active suspension in 1983.
Lotus builds the final Elise, Exige and Evora
Thu, Dec 23 2021Lotus has closed one of the most important chapters of its history: It has ended production of the Elise after a 25-year run. It also built the final example of the Exige, which was closely related to the Elise, and of the Evora, which was bigger and more comfort-oriented. We knew that this day was right around the corner, Lotus announced Final Edition variants of the Elise and the Exige in February 2021, and the British company confirmed that it's keeping the very last examples of the three models for itself. Shown above, the last Elise is a Sport 240 Final Edition model in yellow. The last Exige is a Cup 430 Final Edition finished in British Racing Green, while the last Evora is a GT430 Sport model that wears Dark Metallic Gray paint. All three cars will join the carmaker's growing collection of heritage models. Lotus built 51,738 examples of the Elise, the Exige, and the Evora combined over the past quarter of a century. While that doesn't sound like much, not when Ford sold over 787,000 units of the F-Series in pandemic-ridden 2020, that figure represents nearly half of the cars Lotus has built since its inception. It's worth noting that this number doesn't include the Elise derivatives made for third-party companies; the original Tesla Roadster was built on an Elise-sourced chassis, and the Opel Speedster was developed and manufactured by Lotus. It sounds like the three nameplates have been consigned to the pantheon of automotive history — at least for now. Lotus isn't standing still, however. Funded by Volvo parent company Geely, it unveiled the Emira, a coupe powered by a mid-mounted engine, earlier in 2021, and it's planning to launch its first crossover in spring 2022. The soft-roader will be the first in a series of mass-produced electric models from the company. Looking much further ahead, Lotus will also release a sedan and an electric sports car developed jointly with Alpine.
