Lotus Exige 2006 (1 Of 338 Imported) With Lotus Oem Supercharger on 2040-cars
Scarsdale, New York, United States
You are bidding on a rare, meticulously maintained, and fantastically running 2006 Lotus Exige.
As many know, 2006 was the first year the Exige made its way to the United States. There were 338 imported. (Not sure how many still are registered.) In this year, they were normally aspirated. The 1 owner (previous to me), who purchased the car in Irvine, CA in 2006 maintained the engine type. I purchased the vehicle in November 2013, about 400 miles ago. I added a Lotus OEM Supercharger in partnership with Lotus Specialist Intermecanica. (Consult Lotus Forums for owner Waldir Zangiacomi's knowledge, expertise, and reputation. He has been working on Lotus vehicles since 1967.) The vehicle carries a clean CarFax and AutoCheck. As well as a clear New York State Title. (It's been in my garage, or at Intermecanica's garage since purchase.) Along with the Lotus OEM Supercharger, the engine received lots of love and attention in the form of new OEM and Lotus specific parts - either purchased through British Racing Group or Sector 111. Injectors, two fuel pumps, Intercooler, GPAN. One of the two ECU's has been tuned to run E85. When tuned, it generated approximately 330 WHP. I will provide a second ECU for the vehicle to run regular unleaded gas. The engine and all parts allow for both fuels. All is brand new. Additional New Parts include, listed with their purchase date:
Maintenance:
Other:
There is much more that was purchased for the car to not only bring it up to 2014 levels, but also rival if not surpass latest model Exiges. Will share all purchase and labor receipts. In all, over $25,000 in parts and labor was put into this vehicle. (As with a many aspects of a house renovation, recouping the costs is not necessarily on the list. But please know that every part has been purchased and installed with thought and precision by one of the best Lotus mechanics/engineers in the northeast.) As mentioned, since owning the car it has been driven about 400+ miles. Ideally, the potential buyer is local enough to see the vehicle. It is will surprise, as it did me when I saw it in person and on the lift before buying it. From what was shared with me, the 1 owner in California never tracked the normally aspirated car. He drove it, and used it in fact as his daily driver, doing freeway driving. Since owning it, the car has seen two (15 minutes each) of safety car control sessions on a closed course. (Limerock). While I am not the active 'track guy,' the next owner would be ready to drive spiritedly on the road, and depending on skill level, be at the front of the line on a track day. One other items of interest: The vehicle was fitted with a hinge to lift the rear clam for easy access/maintenance. The construct and design is similar to the BOE Clam Hinge. (See picture.) This will save hours accessing tough to reach areas of the engine. Those who own an S260 may disagree, but this car, as it has been carefully kept 100% Lotus but given a significant jolt, performs at or above the S240 of S260 - with the handling of an Exige and 330 Wheel Horsepower. Dyno run in May 2014. |

Editors' Picks June 2024: Some German SUVs and an excellent sports car
Fri, Jul 5 2024This month sees some recently-refreshed luxury SUVs join the list of Editors' Picks. Both the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne are fresh for 2024, and both are extremely tempting luxury performance SUVs for the well-off buyer. The vast array of powertrains available for both of them ensure there's a version for all comers, and any enthusiast would adore the extra-high-performance versions of both. Of course, enthusiasts will enjoy the last car on this month's list the most with the Lotus Emira. It's simply spectacular to drive, and we can't recommend it enough to the hardcore driver. In case you missed previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get an EditorsÂ’ Pick designation. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. You'll find the entire list of Editors' Picks at this link here, which we keep updated as cars are either added or dropped from the list. The vehicles youÂ’ll find below consist of every car we rated in June that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2024 BMW X5 2024 BMW X5 M Competition View 41 Photos Quick take: The X5 is most desirable in its PHEV and M60i V8 trims, but the whole lineup is extremely competent and brings together excellent performance, excess luxury and cutting-edge tech for its segment. Score: 7.5 What it competes with: Mercedes-Benz GLE, Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover Sport, Maserati Levante, Genesis GV80, Audi Q8 Pros: Superb to drive with knockout powertrains; excellent utility and creative features; styling is sporty and attractive but not over the top Cons: Infotainment system can be a pain; M Competition model is a little over the top; gets pricey quick with options From the editors: Senior Editor, Electric John Beltz Snyder — "I really like the dual-opening liftgate/tailgate combo. The liftgate portion up top opens quickly, allowing you to throw something inside or grab something out of the back. Flipping down the lower tailgate part gives you a nice place to sit and change shoes. Another benefit is that you can open the liftgate without unsecured items immediately falling out. And with the way the X5 M Competition encourages you to drive it hard, you will end up shifting loose cargo around at some point." Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "I'd snag the X5 M60i out of all the various X5 variants.
Lotus Advanced Performance division wants to make your dreams come true
Wed, Feb 9 2022Lotus took a big step in its quest to position itself as a British alternative to Porsche by launching a division called Advanced Performance. Run by a former Aston Martin executive, Lotus Advanced Performance will design and build one-off and few-off models, among other tasks. Most high-end and specialty carmakers operate a program that gives customers some degree of freedom in terms of customization. Lotus was, until now, largely an exception to this rule. It hopes to make up for lost time by giving its Advanced Performance division a surprisingly long list of responsibilities. First the department will be responsible for building "ultra-exclusive and unique vehicles" that will not be part of the firm's regular-production line-up. One of these (shown in a sketch above) looks like it draws inspiration from classic Formula One cars. Details are few and far between, but the massive rear wing speaks volumes about the kind of halo cars we'll see in the not-too-distant future. What's unclear is whether Lotus will take customer requests. We've reached out, and we'll update this story if we learn more. Designing limited-edition models and developing race cars will also fall within the scope of Advanced Performance's responsibilities. And, it's the door that buyers who want to customize their car will need to knock on; they'll be able to select different paint colors, trim materials, and upholsteries. Optional extras and a range of Lotus-branded accessories will also emerge from Advanced Performance's headquarters. Immersing customers and enthusiasts into the Lotus world is important as well, so Advanced Performance will organize tours of the brand's production lines, organize driving academies around the world (including on the Hethel test track in England) and prepare "money can't buy" opportunities for clients. There's no word yet on what these experiences will look like; more information should emerge later in 2022. Lotus put Simon Lane in charge of its Advanced Performance division. He's a good choice: his resume includes leading Aston Martin's Q division, whose list of responsibilities looks a lot like Advanced Performance's. Q notably brought us the V8-powered Cygnet in 2018 and the one-of-a-kind Victor unveiled in 2020. Some of its other projects have been more tame: it gave the DBX a long list of carbon fiber parts. Lotus teases its sleek Type 130 electric hypercar
Tue, Apr 16 2019Lotus has shown a teaser image of a new concept, which will usher in the automaker's electric era. The Type 130 hypercar concept will be shown later this year in London, but this aerodynamic teaser is the first glimpse at its shapely flanks. The Type 130 is said to be in "advanced stages of development." According to Lotus, the Type 130 will spawn a production version, which will be the brand's first all-new vehicle in 11 years. It will be partially bankrolled by Lotus' parent company, the Chinese carmaker Geely, which also owns Volvo. Despite that, the hypercar will not be built in China, but in England. An earlier Autocar article estimated the eventual price at around $2.6 million. Last month, news broke that Lotus is also bringing another new car to market, but that one is likely to retain internal combustion technology along with engineering ties to older Lotus architecture, as it forms a sort of "bridge" between current Lotus products and its future cars. Hence, it can't be called "all-new" in the same sense as a fully electric halo model can. Lotus also noted some of its "firsts" when informing the media of the upcoming concept, which it calls "the world's first full-electric British hypercar." The 1995 Elise was the world's first aluminum and bonded extrusion construction production car, while the 1957 Elite was a production first in the sense that it first brought the composite monocoque within the reach of customers. Between those, there was a lot of groundbreaking F1 knowhow: ground effects for the '77 Type 78 F1 car, carbon fiber for the '81 Type 88, and active suspension in 1983.
