2007 Lotus Exige S. 8500 Miles. Fresh K24 Honda Drivetrain. on 2040-cars
Edmond, Oklahoma, United States
2007 Exige S with approx 8700 miles. This Exige is an over the top track prepped fire breathing monster. It is well sorted out, extremely fast, extremely consistent, and designed specifically to handle long runs without any fade or the typical heat related issues that plague the Exige/Elise on the track. The car weighs just over 1500lbs and produces approx 300hp. It is not only fast, but easy to drive fast. It makes good drivers look great and great drivers look like heros. To further improve lap consistency, the driver seat has been shifted to the center of the passenger cabin. The vehicle has had no collision history, and retains the original body and factory paint. The few body alterations have been professionally performed only to either displace heat or improve aerodynamics. It features a freshly built K24 Honda 2.4 liter (drivetrain specifics below)powerplant, freshly built Gear Speed 5 speed gearbox with composite synchros, full aerodyamics, fully adjustable suspension (specifics below), single center mount seat conversion, and spares. The cost to build this car would be well into the six figures. Drivetrain Specs: Honda K24 long block (2005 Acura TSX) Acura RSX Type S head with dual V-Tec Cams. Full Race Cams. Hybrid Racing Fuel Rail. Port Matched. Oversized Throttle Body. Hondata ECM Software. Full Race Stainless Exhaust (no catalytic converter or emission system) Lightweight Flywheel. Clutch is made for track use only and does hop when leaving a stop, but is made to handle the abuse of the track (only 30 or so hours on the clutch) Gearspeed 5speed Gearbox. Specifically designed for this car with no expense spared. Composite synchros and straight cut gears. Third gear is intentionally very long. You will not have problems with this box, period. Limited Slip Differential Oversized Aluminum Radiator with dual top mount electric fans. Oversized oil cooler. Custom high capacity highly heat resistant wiring harness. You will not have electrical issues. All Engine mounts specifically made for this vehicle by Innovative Mounts. There is much more to list... Suspension/Braking: Lotus Forged Cup Wheels Fully Adjustable Nitron 46mm Race Pro Coilovers Monoball Spherical bearings. Sector 111 RTD2 Subframe Brace Upgraded Teflon lined Tie Rod Ends. Hex Shaft Custom Length Toe Links. Camber Plates. Nitron SS90 outer Toe Kit All bushings and Joints upgraded. Floating 2 Piece Brake Rotors. Front AP Racing Calipers. Stainless Steel Brake Lines. Aerodynamics: IMRP Race Side Sills (2 sets) Oversized front splitter with front undertray (chassis mounted not body mounted for more downforce) Adjustable Carbon Rear Wing with 2 sets of Aluminum Perches (again, chassis mounted for better downforce). 5 element rear diffuser Oversized Carbon Fiber Engine Intake Scoops. Gurney Flaps Custom Carbon Fiber Engine bay cover (no louvres for smoother over body airflow). Lightweight roof comes with vehicle, but once installed cannot be removed or opened easily. Difflow Undertray Aero Plates. Interior, Electronics, Saftety and Driveability: Center mount seat conversion. All parts are Autocad designed and forged aluminum. From the seat mounts, to the pedals, to the dash/steering column mounts, to the shifter, shifter box and shifter bushings. Reverie Carbon Fiber seat. Can be adjusted, but is currently set up for a 5'-11" to 6'-1", 190-200lb driver. IMRP Shifter Box with Hybrid Racing Short Throw Shifter and customer aluminum linkage (with spares for adjustments). Sparco Steering wheel with removable steering hub. Full Fire System. Hondata Engine Management AIM data logger. Custom aluminum firewall (quick release for easy engine bay access). FIA approved Fuel Cell. Full Cockpit and engine bay cage. All body and underbody fasteners are quick release (the rear bodywork and aerdynamics can be removed in under 10 minutes by two people). Clear Body Protection (Clear Bra). Much more to list. This is the closest you will ever experience to a Lemans Prototype car at almost any price. You could spend $150k or more to replicate a track car with this much speed, handling, consistency, safety. All of the frustrating Lotus traits have been tuned out of this car without losing the soul of the car, yet performance has been brought up to a level that would make Sir Colin Chapman's head spin. |

This might be a Lotus SUV test mule
Mon, Jun 24 2019These photos could be our first look at the Lotus SUV in test mule form. The body on the chassis is clearly that of a Lynk and Co. 01 SUV, but the underpinnings are something different entirely. Perhaps the most telling bit of all is the location in which our spy shooter caught the vehicle. We're told that this was shot dangerously close to Lotus' headquarters in Hethel, England. Using a Lynk and Co. body to test the Lotus SUV makes sense when you take into account who owns both companies. Geely happens to own Lotus, Lynk and Co. and Volvo, so they're all under the same roof at this point. These spy photos appear to be hiding a chassis that doesn't exactly fit correctly under the body, though. The front fenders are far wider than they are on the 01, and the rear fenders also look like they've been messed with to fit the much larger rubber. It has a wider, more aggressive stance than the Lynk and Co. SUV, lending more evidence to this being a Lotus SUV test mule. We'd expect a Lotus SUV to handle as well as anything in the class, so all these things do make sense if that's what it is. As for what could be powering the British SUV, that's another story. This tester has yellow caution tape covering where the gas cap is on the 01 SUV, no visible exhaust and a big, yellow high voltage sticker on the windshield. All of that tells us it's most likely electrified in some form. We didn't have intel that the Lotus SUV would be electric previously, but there's every chance they could go down that road. The Lotus 130 hypercar is going to be all-electric. And Volvo sells plug-in hybrids now, so the tech could be borrowed from there, too. Of course, Volvo doesn't have the same priorities as Lotus does with weight reduction and handling, so don't consider anything a done deal quite yet. We can't actually confirm that the vehicle in question is a Lotus underneath, but hopefully more photos and information make their way to us soon. There's still a long way to go in the development process if Lotus is only testing on mules now, so look for plenty more to come on this vehicle.
Race Recap: 2015 US Grand Prix was wet, wild, and historic
Mon, Oct 26 2015Hurricane Patricia made landfall in Mexico this weekend, and made her presence known throughout the South. For two of the three days of the grand prix weekend it rained non-stop in Austin, so badly on Saturday that qualifying had to be postponed until Sunday morning, and then it only stayed dry enough to conduct the first two sessions. At the end of a tricky, slippery Q2 Nico Rosberg had put his Mercedes-AMG Petronas on the front row, one tenth ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton. The German had done the best he could to keep his hair-thin chances of a World Championship fight alive. Daniel Ricciardo lined his Infiniti Red Bull Racing chassis in third ahead of teammate Daniil Kvyat, both drivers having moved up a place because Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel took a ten-spot grid penalty for using a fifth engine and dropped to 13th. Continuing the two-up theme, Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg were fifth and sixth for Force India. After that came variety: Felipe Massa in seventh for Williams, Max Verstappen for Toro Rosso in eighth, Fernando Alonso looking good in the rain for McLaren in ninth, and Romain Grosjean for Lotus in tenth. When the lights went out, Turn 1 set the tone. Pole position is on the outside line at Circuit of the Americas, and Hamilton had got himself far enough under Rosberg by the time the two got up the hill that Rosberg had to stick to the outside through the corner. At the corner exit Hamilton used the entire track, pushing Rosberg wide, their cars touching. As Rosberg left the track and dropped back to fourth, Hamilton radioed to the team to say the contact was unintentional. The two Mercedes' and two Red Bulls animated the front. Rosberg passed Ricciardo at the end of a Virtual Safety Car period employed to let the marshals clean the debris at Turn 1. Kvyat started chasing down Hamilton until the Russian ran wide and let Rosberg and Ricciardo through, then Rosberg ran wide on the next lap to let Ricciardo through. On Lap 15, Ricciardo passed Hamilton through the esses to take the lead. After the first round of pit stops the Aussie still had the lead, followed by Rosberg, Kvyat, Hamilton, and Vettel. Then Rosberg got around to take the lead and Vettel closed in on Hamilton as the Brit duked it out with the Russian. Rosberg showed excellent speed, building up a nine-second gap on Ricciardo, but a Safety Car period erased that when Marcus Ericsson had to park his dead Sauber on the inside of the track after Turn 10.
Lotus-based Radford Type 62-2 shows its retro-styled interior
Thu, Nov 11 2021England-based Radford introduced the Type 62-2, a limited-edition coupe with a heritage-laced design, earlier in 2021. But it didn't show us the interior. Now, Radford finally revealed what the car looks like inside, and it's a blend of retro styling cues and modern tech that enthusiasts will love. At first glance, the Type 62-2's cockpit looks like it's from a different era. The driver faces a meaty three-spoke steering wheel, the shift linkage is exposed, and there is a pair of Bremont instruments (one is a clock, the other is a stopwatch) positioned on the passenger-side of the dashboard. We could be describing a 1970s rally car. However, a closer inspection reveals features buyers expect from a car in 2021. Look behind the steering wheel (whose spokes are made with carbon fiber) and you'll spot a digital instrument cluster with a layout that can be configured by each buyer. You could, in theory, ask for the tachometer to be front and center, for example. Screens positioned on either side of the dashboard display the footage from the cameras that replace the exterior mirrors, and a phone dock that doubles as a wireless charger is hidden behind the build plate located on the center stack. Users can set their phone there to access navigation and music apps. Radford Type 62-2 John Player Special View 5 Photos Buyers will have three basic trim levels to choose from: Classic, Gold Leaf, and John Player Special. Each one will receive a specific look inspired by liveries that Lotus race cars have used in the past, though buyers will be invited to configure their car exactly how they want it. What won't change is the engine: it's a supercharged, 3.5-liter V6 that found its way into the Type 62-2 from Toyota via the Lotus Emira. Bolted to either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, it develops about 430 horsepower in the Classic model, around 500 in the Gold Leaf, and approximately 600 in the John Player Special thanks in part to a specific supercharger. Radford will build 62 units of the Type 62-2, and production is scheduled to start before the end of 2021. Deliveries will begin in early 2022. Pricing information hasn't been announced, but don't expect this rare British coupe built largely by hand to come with a bargain price.
