Hello:
I am selling my 1997 Lotus V8 twin turbo supercar. My Esprit is without a doubt one of the most immaculate V8 examples around, especially for the model year. Cosmetics are superb, most people think it is a new car. Mechanics are in great shape, have extensive service records, all owners have been beyond meticulous and this Esprit has definitely been maintained to the highest standards. Last owner took immaculate care and spared no expense, he lived in San Diego, CA and kept it for 7 years. I purchased car in August 2011, would keep it for years but other priorities take precedence. Has only been serviced at Symbolic Motors, Viking Motors and Lotus by Claudius since in California.  The highlights are as follows:

1. Schedule C service, new Gates blue HD belts and pulleys, about 4 mos and 1000 miles ago.
2. Royal Purple synthetic oil change, same day as installation of belts etc. Old oil was as clean as day it was changed and engine did not use a drop.
3. New low idle control module.
4. New O2 sensors, just passed California smog test with flying colors, emission readings were very low.
5. Clutch and second gear were replaced about 9.2K miles ago. I have about the nicest Renault gearbox around. Shifting is precise, syncros are great, reverse is solid with no issues.
6. Alternator was replaced upon delivery to me from Symbolic motors. New Bosch battery with lifetime warranty
7. Currently has Lotus Factory high output ECU installed (have receipt for $ 2500) and also have "Race ECU"  which might go along with purchase.
8. Lotus by Claudius "cat back custom exhaust", sounds much better than stock but does not affect smog equipment in any way.
9. Blow off valves, Labor alone was $ 1100 by Lotus by Claudius
10. Michelin Pilot tires are: front 60% but older and compound is hard, best to be replaced ($ 450 for set). Rear tires are 70 % and in great shape. Rotors are in very good condition, Newer pads and complete suspension was recently checked and nothing out of ordinary wear and tear was found
11. Alpine CD deck, IPOD connector, remote, with upgraded speakers and subwoofer in passenger floorboard, professionally installed. System sounds fantastic
12. Momo red insert steering wheel installed and factory airbag wheel included
13. Upgraded when car was new OZ Wheels Futura rims
14. Have all books, keys, toolkit, expensive hard copy of Factory service manual, Lotus OEM red wind deflector.
15. No codes, No check engine light, Lotus by Claudius tested the on board computer system with their Lotus handheld module and there are no issues of any kind.

Lastly, I am extremely picky when it comes to cosmetics on a car,  I rate the interior a strong 9.5 (only flaw is one minor scuff on driver side seating bolster, easy fix) and exterior a strong 9.4 (few tiny rock chips( about 6 total) on front end which are very small and touched up, cannot prevent this from happening) .Original Red paint looks like a 2012 with extreme gloss, no clearcoat issues,no scratches etc. Clean Carfax and Autocheck, I feel very confident if a potential buyer viewed my car in person would be more than pleased with overall condition.
In closing if you factor in all the recent preventive maintenance, newer clutch and 2nd gear, very sound mechanics and ultra clean cosmetics this is just a fantastic turn key example and a extremely well priced Esprit !!!    If you have any questions please contact me and I will be more than pleased to answer all inquiries.    Thanks

Lotus Type 132 electric crossover spotted testing in China

Mon, Feb 14 2022

Thanks to Carscoops, we know that Weibo Chinese social media user Ductile Iron BX spotted a Lotus Type 132 prototype testing on Chinese roads. This is the vehicle that will inaugurate the English sports car maker's transition to a battery-electric future and its future as a purveyor of crossovers, the once dirty word among the light-and-simple crowd that's just too profitable to ignore. In profile, the long, low roof makes the Type 132 look more like a jacked-up Allroad-style wagon than a traditional crossover. The heavy camo can't hide the jutting tail that holds a deployable spoiler. Those regular-sized wheels look good, but they don't fill the arches that way we've come to expect from speedy SUVs; we won't be surprised if larger rims appear on the debut model, with an option for even larger rims. The treatment of the rear quarter glass, which looks like a vent, is a neat touch. We know black drapery hides other touches like an active lower grille, its hexagonal mesh peppered with panels that twirl open to provide the right combination of powertrain cooling and vehicle aerodynamics, and some kind of sensor unit rising from the roof. Nor can the camouflage hide the sharp lines throughout, from the concave front fascia to the arced rear fenders to the dramatic rear bumper. This could be a good looking start to Lotus' people-hauler era. The Type 132 is expected to debut this spring, riding on the firm's Evolution Architecture for premium vehicles and featuring 800-volt electrics and a battery with a possible 120-kilowatt capacity. Lotus has said the crossover will reach 60 miles per hour in under 3. seconds, an estimate that probably refers to the dual-motor version that might put out as much as 750 horsepower. Even though the Type 132's place in the luxury segment will see it lined up against entries like the Aston Martin DBX and Porsche Cayenne, this being the first super-sporty CUV from this OEM, it will undoubtedly spend the early part of its life thrown into battles with the Tesla Model X. Lotus pumps Exige up to 430 horsepower

Thu, Nov 9 2017

It seems that every few months or so Lotus has yet another lighter, faster version of one of its cars, usually with an emphasis on the lighter part. This time, the latest, fastest Lotus gets a big bump in power. It's the Lotus Exige Cup 430, and it shares its supercharged V6 with the recently launched Evora GT430. That means it makes 430 horsepower, an impressive 55 more than the 375-horsepower Exige Cup 380. It also produces 325 pound-feet of torque. That engine is impressive enough in the Evora GT430, but it becomes pretty breathtaking in the Exige, which weighs about 2,410 pounds. Though that's slightly heavier than the Cup 380, the overall power-to-weight ratio has improved, and Lotus says the 430 can fly to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds from a standstill. It also boasts a higher top speed than the 380, at 180 mph, which is 5 mph more than the 380. Perhaps more impressive is the fact the Exige Cup 430 is the fastest road car Lotus has tested at its Hethel race track, beating the track-oriented 3-Eleven road car by 1.2 seconds. Among the other interesting features of the Exige Cup 430 are the three-way adjustable shocks as well as adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars. More of the car's total downforce, 45 percent to be precise, acts on the front now, compared with 36 percent on the Cup 380. Four-piston brake calipers are used at each corner. It also comes with a number of weight-saving features as standard, including the lithium-ion battery and titanium exhaust. It can also be optioned to be a legitimate race car with an FIA-legal roll bar and airbag delete. But just the stock car isn't cheap. It has three different price tags depending on whether you purchase it in the U.K., Germany, or France. But the cheapest price in dollars comes from the U.K. where it retails for GBP99,800, or just shy of $131,000 at current exchange rates. Race Recap: 2014 Spanish Grand Prix is boom and bust [spoilers]

Mon, 12 May 2014

The Spanish Grand Prix's 2.892-mile Circuit de Catalunya is considered a preview for the rest of the season, since it's a combination of long front straight and twisting middle sectors mimic sections from every other Formula One track to follow. After the long break following the flyaway races to open the season, teams and fans have also been looking forward to this race to see if anyone had a realistic hope of catching Mercedes AMG Petronas; Infiniti Red Bull Racing honcho Christian Horner boiled his team's outlook for the season down to the line, "We've got to [beat them in Spain] if we're going to make a championship of it."
If we take that as our starting point then the weekend began as a bust. Lewis Hamilton only just beat Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg for pole, the Brit's final effort getting him 0.178 seconds clear of the German. Daniel Ricciardo, proving Red Bull is at least the best of the rest, took third but did so more than a second behind Hamilton. Valtteri Bottas of Williams lined up fourth, almost 1.5 second behind and Romain Grosjean delivered overdue good news for Lotus by taking fifth on the grid, more than 1.7 seconds behind pole. Kimi Räikkönen in sixth outqualified his Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso in seventh, but he couldn't be happy about it because the Ferraris were nearly two seconds behind, and Jenson Button in eighth in the McLaren was more than two second behind. Felipe Massa put the second Williams in ninth, and Sebastian Vettel overcame a terrible start to the weekend to make it into Q3, then didn't set a time when his gearbox failed, then got dropped five places to 15th on the grid when the gearbox had to be changed.
When the lights went out, then came the boom...
