Up for sale is my 1986 Lotus Esprit. I have owned this car for about a year and a half. I purchased it from Lamborghini of Houston, and it has been super reliable and fun to drive. Its my 2nd esprit and I have owned other exotics, so I am fairly well versed in these style of cars. Car leaks no oil, does not smoke, makes boost, transmission syncros are smooth and do not grind. Clutch lets out half way and works perfectly. AC blows cold, just serviced. Wipers, lights, clock, instruments all work properly. Headlights go up and down properly. Has the removable sunroof. Brake pads are new in the back, and the fronts are almost new. New tires, less than 1200 miles on them. Transmission and engine oil changed at 34,000 miles. Rack and pinion in good shape. Cam belt is in good condition and does not need serviced. New air cleaner and spark plugs.
The car has been repainted in the original color. I do not know when it was painted, it was this way when i got it. They did a really good job on the repaint. No overspray or weirdness. All jams look good. The glass on the car is perfect, looks basically new. The interior has been redone at somepoint also. There is no sign whatsover of the car ever being in an accident, no weird stuff with the frame or the underside of the car. The interior looks very good, but the steering wheel does show some sign of wear. The wheels are in good condition, but the clear coat on the rims is checking and looking a little faded. Car temp has never exceeded 90 degrees celsius. The oil pressure at idle when the engine is properly hot (2 hours of driving) is 25 pounds. 50 pounds at idle when just around town. Cooling fans come on and turn off as they should. Car is missing the spare tire/rim. Has a brand new Kenwood Ipod compatible cd player. New battery. This is a fuel injected (bosch) model. I do not have emissions testing here, I do not know if it will pass emissions. On carfax it shows a history of failing, then passing emissions fwiw.
Overall I would say the car is in very good shape. It is not brand new, bear in mind its 27 years old. It does have a few rock chips in the paint and some wear showing here and there. That being said I am happy with the condition of the car. I can store the car for you until you arrange shipping. If you want to talk about it call me at 575 430 1322. Good luck!!!

Lotus Emira V6 First Edition finally being delivered to customers
Wed, Mar 13 2024In July 2021, Lotus revealed the Emira, its final ICE-powered sports car before flipping to an all-electric lineup. By the time we got to drive it in December 2023, our Zac Palmer wrote, "you can’t spend $105,900 on a single car that would be more fun than the V6 First Edition I drove. There just isnÂ’t another option out there that drives like the Emira, putting it in a class of its own for the enthusiast who wants the most unfiltered experience possible." The problem for Emira buyers reading that — the ones sitting on reservations more than two years old — was that none of them had their cars. Last March, Gator Motorsports' franchise Indy Lotus in Indianapolis sent a letter to reservation holders explaining the holdup as U.S. certification, specifically certification by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). At the same time, CarBuzz reported that Emira V6 First Edition units destined for the U.S. would land here last summer but wouldn't be released to customers until between mid-October and mid-December. Except Lotus dealers then had to explain to buyers in January of this year that cars here were getting a software update, likely for certification purposes. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency had given the Emira its blessing, but Lotus didn't want to deliver units that couldn't be registered in the 14 states that adhere to CARB mandates, so it held all of them (and perhaps prevented some car-flipping). At the end of last month, the Californians approved of what Lotus had done with its engine programming, freeing the Emira to head to good homes. At one point, Lotus planned to have cars here in time to get into the 2022 model year, now it's a 2024. On the Emira Forum, in a thread about USA and Canadian delivery that's grown to more than 500 pages, someone posted the CARB approval on March 2, page 461 of the thread. The first response from a forum member in Stage 4 of the Five Stages of Grief — mentioned just four posts earlier — was, "Is this legit? This isn't something you did as a joke on the forum?" It's no joke, other forum posters are reporting that they are receiving their cars. Nay, twas not a joke. What's also serious is a higher price for the eventual entry-level trim, the Emira First Edition powered by an AMG-sourced turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.
Detroit Electric SP:01 electric Lotus project not dead yet
Wed, Jun 18 2014Detroit Electric is still on board to produce the Lotus Exige-based SP:01 electric sports car, which has been delayed more than once already. According to the carmaker, the SP:01 prototype is currently undergoing testing at a facility in Europe, as we can see in the above photo provided by Detroit Electric. Details about the production schedule and on-sale date for the SP:01 are still unclear, but Detroit Electric says it will announce more about that in the coming weeks. Production was originally supposed to begin last year, but was delayed when plans to build the car in Plymouth, MI fell through. Production is now planned to take place in Holland, but there's still potential for future models to be made in Detroit. The company has stated that the SP:01 will come with a base price tag of $135,000. Like the Tesla Roadster, the Detroit Electric SP:01 uses a Lotus chassis. The car's electric motor provides 201 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels, pushing the car to 62 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph. Range on a full charge is said to be more than 180 miles. The SP:01 has been off to a bit of a rocky start, but this bit of news shows there's still life in the project. Let's just hope it all continues smoothly. See what Detroit Electric has to say for itself in the press release below, or check out our original post about the SP:01 for all the details about the car. World's Fastest Production Electric Vehicle Prepares for Launch Detroit Electric, the international electric vehicle manufacturer, is finalising dynamic testing of its SP:01 pure-electric sportscar at a facility in Europe ahead of its introduction in several world markets. The lightweight, two-seat, rear-wheel-drive, open-top sportscar promises to thrill the EV market with its blistering performance and exhilarating dynamics. This latest version of the SP:01 has seen additional development work carried out by Detroit Electric's engineers and designers since a pre-production version of the vehicle was revealed to the media at events in Detroit, USA, and Shanghai, China, last year. Further details of the car and Detroit Electric's production and sales plans will be announced in the coming weeks. Lotus to layoff a quarter of its workforce
Thu, 18 Sep 2014Lotus has issued a press release to day, wherein it indicates that a "need to both reshape its organisation and to reduce costs" may result in the loss of "up to 325" jobs. That's a fairly significant number of layoffs for any company, but considering that Lotus currently employs 1,215 people (per the company's bio in the same release), it could mean a full 25-percent of the automaker's workers could soon be sharpening their resumes.
CEO Jean-Marc Gales says in the statement that Lotus has "worked very hard to avoid the need to make this proposal," but admits that it is now "essential" to the future of the company. The chief indicates that post-restructuring, he expects Lotus to be a "leaner" and "more competitive" organization, one which - and we can all see a little silver lining here - is focused on "producing class-leading sports cars and innovative engineering."
The 325-job number appears to be soft at this point, with the statement indicating that some negotiation about which and how many posts will be cut is yet to come. Further, the company may "redeploy" some employees, and may even recruit new blood for "key roles," all with an eye toward running the strongest possible team going forward. Though, we imagine that the recruitment bit won't fly well for those employees getting the sack.
