Anybody need a collectible car for their garage? I've got one for ya. This is an absolutely beautiful car to add to the collection. This car has amazing paint. Only two teeny tiny blemishes that were touched up by a body shop. Not a touchup pen from walmart. It also has a few minor scratches around the door handle probably from the keys many years ago. Other than that the paint is flawless. Interesting fact, lotus only painted certain cars black. The fiberglass body had to be a certain quality to meet that standard. So it's a rare color.

The interior is in amazing shape as well. No stains, no rips or tears anywhere. The drivers seat does have wear on it but it's not terrible. One gauge has been replaced with an aftermarket gauge which isn't the prettiest but you get use to it. Other than that the interior is mint. Very VERY clean.

The motor runs great. Fires up first time every time. I will take a video of it running so you can see how good it runs! The transmission shifts smooth as butter. There are no mechanical problems with the car. The car has had lots of upgrades, however we never received documentation of where that work was done. The previous owner had it for about 12 years, had the title reworked into his wifes name then I bought it. Here's the list of upgrades its had done.

Upgraded Lotus Red Racing Computer
Brembo Brakes
HRE Performance Three Piece Rims
Upgraded Turbos (Unsure of make model specs etc)
2003-2004 Tail LIghts

This is a car you have to see to believe it is a true beauty. I will post a video in a bit of the car running so you can hear to motor, and I will do a walk around. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me and I will respond as soon as I can.

Buyer will pay a deposit within 24 hours of auction closing and Buyer is responsible for transport of the vehicle. We can help with arranging transport but you must contact us and there will be a small fee, and buyer pays for the transport.

Thanks for looking!

Join XCAR as it explores the history behind the Lotus Seven

Fri, Feb 28 2014

All modern Caterhams are based on the Lotus Seven – a small, lightweight roadster developed by Colin Chapman back in 1957. That car has evolved into an entire range of models, spanning from the new, affordable 160, shown below in the latest video from XCAR, to the maniacal 620R. Over the years, the Seven has come to be a known quantity among auto enthusiasts. What isn't as well known is the origin of the Seven and the cars that came before it. As XCAR points out, "What happened to [the Seven's] earlier ancestors? What happened to the Lotus numbered one through six?" The answer probably isn't what you'd expect. Scroll down for a great look at unique motorsport that inspired Colin Chapman's earliest efforts in the latest video from XCAR. This content is hosted by a third party. Banned Lotus 88 F1 car explained by Colin Chapman's son

Tue, Apr 5 2016

Racing teams are always looking for ways to gain speed through creative interpretations of the rule book, but speed-obsessed engineers were a little too clever with the twin-chassis design for the Lotus 88 Formula One car. Colin Chapman's son, Clive, gave Goodwood the racer's fascinating story and why the organizers banned it. Lotus' innovation with the 88 was a novel twin-chassis layout. The outer chassis supported the aerodynamic elements and the body, and the inner one held the driver, engine, and transmission. The separate pieces allowed the car to meet the rules in the pits, but the outer chassis would create a seal with the track at speed to preserve the ground effect downforce. The organizers decided this ingenious solution went contrary to the rules against side skirts, and they banned the 88. However, this Lotus was important for a second reason. The inner chassis was F1's first carbon fiber monocoque. The lightweight material is common in racing and performance cars today, but it was a cutting-edge innovation for 1981. Get the full story from Clive Chapman in this clip. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.

Jay Leno goes old school with 1966 Lotus Elan 26R

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

On the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage the guest's are both from inside the garage: the man they call Professor Jim Hall, Leno's master fabricator, and the 1966 Lotus 26R that he spent 18 months building. The Elan 26R was the racing version of the Elan that Lotus founder Colin Chapman began building after watching privateer teams prep their roadgoing Elans for competition duty all over Europe. Built by the factory from 1964-1966, drivers like Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart won silverware in the roadster called "the giant killer."
Hall, a veteran Lotus wrench, started with the 1966 Elan street car and turned it into a 26R that's arguably better than the factory original. Except for the engine block and head, original 26R body and Elan chassis, just about everything is custom built, highly modified or special order, from the fabricated oil pan, brake lines, safety wiring and oval exhaust tubing to the six-speed sequential transmission.
The episode is an unusually-long 21 minutes because, as an in-house build, Leno can go through the process of putting the whole roadster together. When he takes it for a drive and keeps going on about how it sings, you can hear it, too. It's worth the time to check out Mr. Hall's Opus in the video below.
