1989 Lotus Esprit Turbo Se Coupe 2-door 2.2l on 2040-cars
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States
Originally a Florida car, this brilliant example of an automotive icon has been in our family since 1999. It had continuous upkeep for the initial 6 years of ownership, then underwent controlled storage for the next 5 years. Mechanically restored by a Lotus specialist over the last 3 years, the car has provided wonderful entertainment in the form of a thrilling ride, an attention magnet, and always a labor of love. The racecar handling is the ultimate therapist, and the timeless design is one to fall in love with. Not for the casual driver: Just like the Formula 1 vehicles whose drive it emulates, those who know the vehicle know the projects that come with it. The most recent necessary project involves the fuel system, including expected need to recondition the fuel tanks and clean through the fuel system components that follow. The vehicle is sold in as is, non-running condition. The body and interior are acceptable for use but in need of reconditioning and eventually new paint (see pictures). From 10 feet away, the blemishes are minimal, and the vehicle is stunning. The car is without known accident damage and carries a clean title. This is a unique vehicle that requires special know-how to drive and to maintain. It is looking for an owner that can appreciate its timeless design, its collectability, and its engineering challenges. This special edition [Prolessa] has Pearl White paint, factory removable sun roof, and rear spoiler. Please feel free to call for additional details. Your inquiries will be answered by the very Lotus specialists who have maintained the vehicle and know it intimately. For the extensive upkeep recently completed, and full details, call 954-522-0070. |

Lotus Evora 400 arrives in December for $89,900
Mon, May 18 2015It's been three months to the day since Lotus revealed the new Evora 400. And if you've spent the intervening time pining and wondering just how much you'd need to set aside to put one in your driveway, you need wonder no longer. The British sports car manufacturer has just released pricing for the new-and-improved Evora 400, which will retail at Lotus showrooms in America for $89,900. Now that's a fair bit more than it was charging just last year for an Evora ($68,400) or the Evora S ($78,480), but for all that extra scratch, you get a lot more. The 400-horsepower model packs 55 more horses than the Evora S, weighs almost 50 pounds less, features a new diff, carbon-ceramic brakes, bodywork and interior, and benefits from returned electronics, suspension, gearbox, and more. (Buyers will also be able to opt for an automatic transmission, upgraded interior trim, appearance package, forged alloys and painted calipers, all at additional cost.) The result of all those upgrades – costly as they are – is a 0-60 time of just 4.1 seconds, a top speed of 186 miles per hour and a lap time around the company's test track at Hethel clocked at 1:32 – a full six seconds faster than the existing Evora S. If that sound enticing, North American deliveries are set to commence in December. For this price the car benefits from a high level of standard specification including 370 mm composite two piece brake discs from AP Racing, a Limited Slip Differential, automatic air-conditioning and infotainment system including satellite navigation. In addition to this, the options list includes automatic transmission at GBP2,000, Alcantara or Leather trim upgrades at GBP2,500 and metallic paint at GBP900.
Lotus CUV sets sights on Macan
Mon, Jun 29 2015The idea of a minimalist sportscar brand like Lotus actually building a crossover, as opposed to its APX concept, is still a bit hard to comprehend. But survival in the modern automotive landscape isn't easy, and a higher-volume model could do a lot to keep the lights on. Hot off the debut of the feather-light 3-Eleven at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, company CEO Jean-Marc Gales is now divulging some more details about the future model. At the moment, Lotus plans to launch the crossover in 2019, and the company has some rather specific targets in mind. "We want to get SUVs to be light and fast. The nearest rival will be the Porsche Macan – but ours will be better," Gales said to Auto Express. Rumors suggest the use of aluminum and composites with the goal for a weight as much as 400-500 pounds less than Porsche's smaller CUV. The model will be exclusive to the Chinese market at launch. While the Lotus crossover is under serious planning, actual development isn't underway yet. According to Auto Express, the company and its Chinese joint venture partner are still waiting for a license to build cars there. Once that comes, they intend to kick things into high gear. Gales also suggested that a Toyota-sourced powertrain, possibly a hybrid, was in the cards.
