Lisle, Illinois, United States
2008 Lotus Elise SC Rare and Immaculate 60th Anniversary Special Edition Lotus In 2008, Lotus created a special 60th Anniversary Supercharged edition and built only 43 of these cars. Of those, only 19 were offered in Phantom Black with the silver stripe. I searched the US for one in 2009 and found this vehicle for sale at a dealership in Cleveland, OH. It had been sitting in a dealer showroom for two years and had only been driven 180 miles to and from an auto show in Ohio. I purchased the car as NEW in January, 2010. It had never been titled. It was shipped in a closed trailer to my home and has never been in inclement weather. This car is in incredible condition. Never a scratch, nick, or dent. Paint is all perfect. Non-smoker. Car still smells new. Every function works perfectly. One
owner car always meticulously maintained by Lotus dealership. TJ Waszak, arguably the best
Lotus mechanic in the Midwest, has personally performed all maintenance, tech
prep, and service and has offered to be a personal reference to the quality of
this car and the way it has been maintained. Back in 2010, TJ added a Moroso Oil Pan ($700)
to this car to increase oil capacity from 4 to 6 quart wet sump and reduce risk of
oil starvation. Also, added Schroth
4-point harness (wide) shoulder belts for safety. The car was recently serviced for resale, including new tires, oil and filter, and a complete tech inspection to confirm car is in perfect condition. Car has been detailed and looks perfect. Car had new brakes and complete brake flush at 16k miles. Car also comes with battery-minder (trickle charge to protect battery) and WeatherShield Car Cover ($350) in great condition (car stays covered in garage). I have the original window sticker that shows price at $63,120. The 60th Anniversary edition was a $7,495 option. It offers components that were only available this one time on an Elise SC. This is the most sought-after car ever to come out of Norfolk, UK. Car comes with the following special features: ·
Upgraded black leather interior utilizing Silver contrast stitching ·
60th Anniversary logos embroidered in the headrests ·
Car is all hand-crafted and this is the shortest production run ever ·

Lotus opens the 2013 Formula One season with the launch of the E21 [w/video]
Wed, 30 Jan 2013Lotus has broken the seal on the 2013 Formula One season, launching the E21 car at its factory in Enstone. With the regulations this year quite similar to those of last year, there are no dramatic changes in form compared to the E20. After some teams lobbied to be able to cover the stepped nose with a "vanity panel," Lotus retained the configuration, the team's technical director saying that the panel would add more weight and didn't make sense to put on the car unless it also added performance.
Beyond that, the E21 is said to be an comprehensive advance in its details - the suspension gets a new layout, the Coanda exhaust and the passive double DRS system are evolutions from last year, the front wing is "a continuation of concepts" from 2009.
After securing fourth in the Constructor's Championship last year, this is the chassis that drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean will use to try and move the team up a place, which would mean beating one of the big three teams over the course of the season. The quietly and impressively consistent Räikkönen managed third in the Driver's Championship, and we're sure he wouldn't mind a move up in the standings, either.
Lotus CEO busted doing 102 mph uses 'Test Driver' defense
Wed, Jan 24 2018A UK police officer busted Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales doing 102 miles per hour in a Lotus on the A11 motorway near the carmaker's Hethel HQ. Doing 102 mph in a Lotus isn't a problem. Doing 102 mph in a Lotus in a 70-mph zone, however, is. The even bigger problem for Gales was that according to the sentencing guidelines, the minimum spanking for such hijinks is three points added to the driver's record and a GBP100 fine. The biggest problem for Gales was that he already had eight points on his license for previous offenses. At 12 points, a UK driver can be banned from driving for six months, and Gales did not want to be one tiny point away from that fate. Gales could have explained himself in court, but he had his solicitor, Simon Nicholls, do it for him. Nicholls prepared an arcane quodlibet that could be called the "Test Driver Defense." The premise was that as CEO of a sports car company, Gales felt compelled to test drive his company's newest products, and that Gales' hands-on, wide-open-throttle approach to his job is partly "responsible for the remarkable turnaround in the fortunes of the company." As such, it would be "vital" for Gales to continue doing his work, beneficial to the country as it were. The cheekiest bit came when Nicholls said, "Of course [Gales] was driving very carefully but was not driving in accordance with the speed limit," and that sentencing guidelines are "handrails not handcuffs." The solicitor furthermore suggested that instead of assessing points, the court should issue a 30-day driving ban and a fine. And the court agreed. On top of ordering Gales into the shotgun seat, the magistrate instructed Gales to pay GBP666, plus GBP100 for court costs, and GBP66 for a victim surcharge. That's about $1,400 in US funds, but no points. Then the magistrate said Gales - who wasn't present - should stick to test tracks instead of public roads for his triple-digit duties. The episode proves that Lotus not only knows how to add lightness to cars, it knows how to do the same for justice. Related Video:
Lotus nearing decision on sedan versus crossover
Mon, Mar 9 2015Lotus may be comfortable for the time being developing newer and better versions of its existing sports cars, but it won't necessarily skate by on its aging product portfolio forever. According to a report from Reuters, Lotus and its Malaysian parent company DRB-Hicom are currently considering adding a new model to the British automaker's lineup. And in a further sign of the times, it seems likely that the new model would be either a sedan or crossover. "I'm a bit torn between an SUV and a four-door sports car but in the end I can see that the SUV has the bigger market," Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales told Reuters. "We'd do an SUV that is very light, very fast on the track and has outstanding handling," in keeping with what Lotus is known for. It would not be the first sports car manufacturer to delve into either category, of course. Porsche rebuilt its business by expanding into both categories with models like the Panamera, Cayenne and Macan. Maserati has long offered successive versions of the Quattroporte, more recently launched the Ghibli sedan and will soon introduce the Levante crossover. Aston Martin has toyed with both, as has Lamborghini. Other marques like Ferrari and McLaren, however, remain resolutely opposed to either proposition. This past December, we reported that Lotus was preparing to go a slightly different route by offering a high-riding version of the Evora instead of a proper four-door sport-ute. This latest development, however, would appear to be quite different. The company's engineering division showcased the APX crossover concept back in 2006, and revealed the Eterne sedan concept as part of the grandiose plans of the previous Bahar administration in 2010. The last time the proposition came up this past August, nearly half of respondents to our online poll voted that Lotus should build a sedan, but not a crossover. Over a quarter of you said Lotus should built both, 2 percent voted for the crossover over the sedan, and 22 percent said Lotus should steer clear of either.
