Up for sale is a 2005 Lotus Elise in Storm Titanium with Red leather interior and Black Exige wheels with 38k miles. The Grey/Red combination is incredibly rare, few were made with this combination. Also, the black wheels were only an option with the Exige, but this car was lucky enough to get them from the factory because they had ran out of the standard (and frankly, more boring) Elise wheels.

The car has the Touring pack (leather, power windows, carpet, and additional insulation in the body, doors, and the soft top). The Storm Titanium paint is metallic (another option) that really attracts the eye. The car has the StarShield pack (similar to a 3M clear bra on some body panels). No rock chips in the paint, but there are two minor knicks in the StarShield.  No accidents.  Always garaged.  Regular Maintenance.  All documents included.

The car looks great and it is a dream to drive. The best feedback of any car I've ever driven.  If you've ever driven karts, you will love this car.  Cosmetically, the car looks fantastic.  Mechanically, everything is perfect with the exception that the 2nd/3rd synchro needs replaced, hence the slight discount from comparable Lotii.  For the sake of full disclosure: the two estimates I've gotten were approximately $150 for the synchro and $900 for the labor.  The prospective buyer may want to do other things while the work is being done (i.e. clutch upgrades, etc), so I have opted to let the buyer have it done.  If you like working on cars (and apparently many Lotus owners do), 90% of the work can be done by yourself and you can save yourself some coin.  I can provide the Lotus repair documentation if desired.

The Elise only weighs 1950 lbs! It goes 0-60 in 4.7 seconds on 168 HP! The car broke Road & Track's 60-0 braking distance record at 105 feet! It has no power steering which gives it incredible response on the road.

If you're looking at this car, you clearly have good taste for fine automobiles. If you've never owned a Lotus but always have wanted to, this is a great car to start with. However, you should be comfortable talking to people who approach you about this car...because it will happen. Frequently.

100% feedback since 1999.

Lotus to add 2 new sports cars by 2020, SUV by 2022

Mon, Jan 29 2018

British sports carmaker Lotus will bring two new sports cars in 2020 with an SUV right behind them in 2021 or '22, becoming the brand's first all-new vehicles since it began production of the Evora back in 2009.CAR Magazine reports the news in an interview with Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales. Of the two cars, he said only that one will be a replacement for an existing car, with the other likely to be a limited-edition, track-focused car slotted above the Evora. It'll base the cheaper of the two on an evolution of Lotus' bonded aluminum chassis, while the other will get a new carbon-fiber chassis and become the brand's new performance flagship. Chinese automaker Geely, which also owns Volvo, purchased a majority ownership stake in Lotus last year, adding what's hoped to be a measure of stability and badly needed investment to years of ownership changes and endless re-iterations of existing models. With Geely money backing the operation, it's likely these two vehicles will be more likely to come to fruition than the last batch of ambitious concepts from the company, which included a new Esprit, Elite, and Elan. Those never progressed beyond the concept stage. The company soon after revealed the Evora GT430 as its fastest, most-powerful road car to date, with a 0-to-60 time of 3.7 seconds, and it put the same supercharged V6 in the Exige to bump up horsepower to 430 and increase torque to 325 pound-feet. Meanwhile, Lotus is ending production of the 3-Eleven this year, and Gales has previously said the company was developing a new Elise for 2020, so it's likely that's one of the new cars. The Elise and Exige were withdrawn from the U.S. back in 2011. The new vehicles will benefit from technology from Geely's network of suppliers, and Geely is also apparently hiring new Lotus staff and investing "millions" in Lotus' production lines. Lotus said its sales were way up in both Europe and the U.S. during its last fiscal year, and while the brand still lost money it narrowed its financial losses and said it expected to be profitable before tax for the current fiscal year.Related Video:

Tesla Model S Easter egg turns car into submarine

Sun, Mar 1 2015

When thinking about Elon Musk, the first thing that comes to mind may not be his sense of humor. However, the Tesla boss is embedding a pretty funny Easter egg in the company's cars that references a part of his own collection. Musk famously purchased the Lotus Esprit submarine from the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me for about $967,000 in 2013. At one point, he even intended to install a Tesla powertrain and make it fully transformable. From anyone else that plan would sound like pure fantasy, but Musk has the money and the means to make it happen, if he wants. Now, every Tesla Model S driver gets to share in just a little of that very cool ownership experience. A person on YouTube filmed how to access the Easter egg, and it's extremely easy. Just hold down the T on the infotainment screen for a few seconds, enter the appropriate code 007 and check the suspension settings page. Instead of seeing a Model S, Bond's submersible Esprit now appears. As another cool touch, users can set the vehicle's depth in leagues, and the options max out at 20,000. This is almost certainly a subtle reference to the classic story 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Maybe someday Musk can get the Lotus' conversion complete, and we can see it working for real. Until then, this a neat way to show the unique car off. Related Video:

Coca-Cola returning to F1 with Lotus sponsorship [w/videos]

Sat, 24 Nov 2012

Even before Red Bull Racing became a record-breaking three-time Constructor's Champion in Formula One, it has dominated conversations both as a team and as an energy drink. After seven years of "Red Bull this" and "Red Bull that," Coca-Cola is reportedly ready to jump into the F1 fray with its Sweden-based energy drink Burn.
Rumors had placed Coca-Cola's entry with McLaren F1, but it's actually Lotus that has secured the deal. We have no idea what the sponsorship will look like, but the website for Burn says that "We [intend] to foster that creativity by incorporating art and music in a way that will break the conventions of traditional F1 sponsorship," Lotus F1 team principal Eric Boullier adding "We are excited to partner with burn to build a new and innovative model for sponsorships that will combine experiences, content creation and social media..."
Since most - including this writer - have no idea what Burn is, we've included a couple of Burn commercial spots to help get us up to speed, which you'll find below. The 2012 season hasn't even ended, and we're already looking forward to 2013...
