2005 Lotus Elise Ready For Summer on 2040-cars
Painesville, Ohio, United States
2005 Lotus Elise I bought the car 2/27/2012 with 15809 it now has 18532 I had been looking for a Lotus Elise for ever when this one came up locally I jump on it without checking into it I didn’t even know it had a salvage title until my credit union call and told me (my bad) but I was very excited to own a Lotus . I did look at as much as I could when I went to look at it but there were 2 other people there looking at it also that's why I jumped on it. Don’t get me wrong it’s an awesome car. I believe the car came from Florida and the place I bought it from did the body work There was only fiberglass damage NO chassis damage at all They didn’t do the best job in the world and the front very bottom was not done as you can see in the pictures but I see most Elise’s have the same problem There is a scratch on the driver’s door that looks like they painted over it and one on the back upper trunk area The passenger door window is tinted blue but not driver’s side. (I think that is where it might have had the damage but not sure also the paint on the door is very slightly different very hard to tell) Also inside the Drives door where the hinge there are some scratches or cracks (not sure) but it’s not affecting structure at all and was never painted (see pictures) Don’t get me wrong the car looks great Power windows work great No keys entry (there might be I just didn’t get the opener) The paint it nice and shinny Typical Lotus radio never picks up any stations CD player rocks The leather boot around the shifter is lose at bottom Hardtop is missing the back brackets I don’t know why I just never received them (Lotusgarage.com about $40) I never use the top so never bothered I put new tires on back front ones still have good tread I have changed the oil twice with Royal Purple I don’t know why I did it twice I had big plans Now for the Motor train NEVER a drop of anything under car NEVER loses a drop of anything Car runs and drives GREAT everything is as tight as it was from the factory (only 18000 miles) Front brakes just started squeaking I might change them before auction ends (AutoZone D109 $20.00) No promises My wife and I loved cruising around but we could only last about an hour before we got sore (yeah we’re old and fat LOL I paid $25000 for the car and my reserve is much lower than that I just can’t handle the $600 a month payment anymore The car is not perfect I tried to list everything I know so there are no surprises but on the same note the car drives AWESOME and looks good too Funds will have to be creared before the title and car can be tranfored I still owe the credit union but they have the title on hand Any questions PLEASE ask On May-31-14 at 17:26:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry I just added the rest of the pictures I don't know why they didn't go the first time. And it's actually in Mentor , Ohio 44060 5 minutes away from 44077 (I moved) Also someone asked for a warranty. this is something I can not offer I have described the car the best I can and it does run fantastic. I've only run HIGH TEST gas and its been stored inside never even seen rain since I've had it. Sorry but it's a AS IS auction. |

Race Recap: For the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix, NASCAR comes to the principality
Tue, 28 May 2013Lots of contact, debris cautions, trips into the wall, full-course yellows and a red flag - these are the kinds of racing terms you unbox when you want to have a conversation about NASCAR... or the Formula One grand prix of Monaco. In this case we're not talking about the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, we're talking about 78 laps in the South of France that even featured a fallen camera cable just like that stock-car race.
This year, Mercedes-AMG Petronas drivers treated their chassis' like busses instead of F1 cars, Romain Grosjean treated his Lotus like a battering ram, Sergio Perez kept sticking his McLaren's nose in places and eventually got it smacked, and maybe the size of the drivers' mirrors should be changed instead of the tires as there were almost as many firsts as there were crashes. Plenty of F1 fans wish Monaco were removed from the calendar, yet even though it doesn't specialize in traditional thrills, that doesn't mean nothing happens during the parade through - and into - the barriers.
2017 Renault Alpine still looks like a Lotus
Thu, Jul 23 2015Two years ago, an oddly modified Lotus Exige was photographed speeding around the Nurburgring. While that car looked British, at the time Renault's engineers were reportedly developing the suspension for the future Alpine sports coupe underneath with some help from the folks at Ohlins. Now, our spies have spotted this weird Lotus-bodied mule out testing, and it might be a major hint that development for the reborn French brand is getting serious again. Unfortunately, it's hard to pull many details about the future Alpine just from this mule. Up front the air extractors are noticeably covered, and at the rear there's now a panel hiding the engine with just some small vents near the very back. The roof-mounted scoop appears to be the major means of sending cool air to the powertrain. Alpine has been back in the news as of late. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the brand's Celebration Concept was unveiled but without many real details. Then, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the car was filmed actually moving under its own power. Earlier reports suggest that a production version, possibly called the AS1, might come in 2017 with around 250 horsepower on tap from an engine mounted behind the driver. Engineers would keep weight as low as possible to make the most from that power. While no version in the US is likely, prices in Europe might be about the equivalent of $34,000 to $40,000.
Lotus slated to stop selling Evora in US
Mon, 22 Sep 2014It's been three years now since Lotus stopped selling the Elise and Exige in North America, leaving the Evora as its only model available Stateside. But according to the latest from Car and Driver, even that model is on its way out.
The problem reportedly comes down to air bags. Lotus was granted a temporary exemption from fitting the latest-generation smart airbags to the Evora, but that exemption is set to expire at the end of the year. And once it does, Lotus apparently has no intention of developing and fitting the proper equipment to allow it to continue selling the Evora in the United States.
Once the Evora is gone from our market, Lotus will be reduced to selling only track-bound versions of the Elise and Exige in the US, so the prospect of actually buying a new Lotus and driving off the dealer lot will vanish into thin air.
