Annie Leibovitz goes Continental for Lincoln campaign

Lincoln has a lot riding on the new Continental, and the company is now calling upon renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz to glam-up its new flagship. Her photos are part of a new series dubbed "That's Continental," which the automaker will use in high-end publications and on social media. Leibovitz's iconic photos have been used in magazines like Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair, and she's photographed celebrities, politicians, literary icons, and landmark events. The new series for the Continental is Leibovitz's first attempt at car photography and it follows a road trip theme inspired by the trips she took with her father as a child. The photos for the campaign were shot in New York City with a group of non-professional models, including a musician, an artist, an actor, and a film director and his dog, Seven. "Annie Leibovitz is a photographer of substance," said Lincoln president Kumar Galhotra. "The rich, warm emotions her photos evoke, mirror the feelings we want our clients to experience on all of their journeys in the new Lincoln Continental." Lincoln MKC prototype spied out testing

As was the case with the Lincoln MKZ, it appears that Lincoln isn't wasting any time getting its newest model transformed from concept to production form. We just saw the MKC Concept earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show, and based on these spy shots, it looks like the final touches are being put in place for the 2014 Lincoln MKC crossover.
Sharing its platform with the Ford Escape, we can definitely see some similarities between these two compact crossovers when it comes to the roofline and daylight opening, but through the heavy camouflage, Lincoln's signature split-wing grille can easily be seen and it looks like the concept's taillights will also make it to reality. On the disappointing side, it looks like the integrated exhaust outlets are being ditched for some round outlets, and we can't tell if the production version will keep the Audi-like clamshell rear liftgate.

Ford hybrid sales rebound following MPG controversy

Ford hybrid customers apparently have very short memories. With two EPA fuel economy reratings in the last year, sales of the C-Max, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ haven't been too terribly dented, Ward's Auto reports.
All three vehicles saw sales dips following the August 2013 rerating, although sales of the MKZ Hybrid had begun to rebound as early as November of that year. C-Max sales, meanwhile, took slightly longer, with sales on a steadily improving course as early as February of this year.
The second rerating, in June of this year, has had an even smaller effect on the Blue Oval's hybrids. The C-Max has actually been subject to a sales increase, while both the MKZ and Fusion saw minor sales drops (less than 400 units between the two in the month following the rerating).
