Auction is no reserve and started at a reasonable price, will let the market dictate what it’s worth.

Selling my 1998 Lincoln town car with signature series trim level, I purchased the vehicle in Feb 2010. Interior is probably an 8 out of 10. Will come with 2 remotes, one factory key, and possible one aftermarket programmed key(have to check safety deposit box), I also have a factory manual for this car. Car averages 22-25mpg in city and 30mpg on highway. 1998 is the only year without an external door keypad and lower power engine heads compared to later years. The car has lived its life with me as highway driving in Orlando for business and city driving for taking elderly father to doctor’s appointments. Title is free and clear with no defects, we have title in hand. Elderly father is co-registered owner so will be 2 signatures on given title. We are both nonsmokers and car shows no signs of previous smokers.

According to the Carfax I have, this car has always been a Florida owned and registered vehicle from the beginning. The first half of its life being south Florida and the second half to current being in central Florida. Carfax also shows this vehicle as accident free. It does show a repo but that was from a way previous owner and not me.

Reason for selling is to upgrade to Truck/SUV to do more hunting, fishing, outdoors activities. Little difficult to transport fishing gear and scuba gear without damaging something in a Lincoln car.

This car has power driver and passenger seats, power mirrors and power locks. Heated drivers and passenger mirror along with auto dim rearview mirror, and I believe auto dim drivers mirror. I upgraded the steering wheel from the plain leather wheel to the nice wood and leather steering wheel from high trim levels with both having the full steering wheel controls for radio and climate control.

The factory stereo system is the JBL stereo option with steering wheel controls and an 8” subwoofer in the rear deck. One of the minor defects is that the 8” sub in the rear deck is worn out and would not function properly, so the rear wiring to the sub was connected to a prefab 12” ported subwoofer in the trunk to retain bass in the car. If you want to take the time to remove the rear seat and deck cover the rear factory sub can be replaced and wiring reconnected easily. It also came with the factory CD changer in the trunk but I never purchased the CD magazine for the changer, unknown working of factory CD changer in trunk.

interior shows slight signs of aging but very excellent condition for being 15 years old, no cracks in the dash or door panels, leather seats do show some butt wear and driver carpet area show some light dirt and wear but what car wouldn't. I take pride in my vehicles. Headliner and visors are in perfect condition.

What has been replaced/ repaired/ or installed on it:

Previous owner I purchased from:

  • All metal replacement Intake manifold to correct the plastic crossover runner problem/factory design defect associated with the early year town cars of the 98-2002 body style. I believe Dorman manufactured. Done by previous owners.

  • Water pump and hoses while manifold being replace as preventative measure

Current owner (me) with a stack of repair tickets and receipts for most major repairs:

  • Rear airbags converted to Coil Spring suspension, using Moog Coils, factory air system components (compressor, sensors, airlines, etc.) still installed and can be easily reversed with suspension airbags reinstalled. Airlines are neatly capped and tucked into frame. Fuse pulled for compressor so the dash shows air suspension light on. Again all easily reversed if you want to install factory rear airbag “springs”

  • 5% Llumar tint all around to protect from Florida sun

  • All-Season tires all around with current estimate of 60-75% tread as of sale, Coin penny test shows tread at Lincoln’s mouth if held with head to tire. Factory recommended 225/60/R16 size always used

  • Front and rear ceramic pads and rotors all around, March 2014 new ceramic pads and front rotors first cut. Fine details such as antiseize used in correct areas on calipers and wheels studs light coat of wheel bearing grease done by mechanic.

  • Driver and passenger Upper and lower ball joints, done at same time

  • Driver and passenger sway bar end links, done at same time

  • Steering center link, age of vehicle replaced.

  • Inner and outer tie rods, both sides

  • Wheel alignment for above work.

  • New main radiator electric cooling fan assembly due to age

  • Serpentine belt tensioner

  • Serpentine belt idler pulley

  • Serpentine belt itself that is Gatorback brand belt, spare worn belt stored in trunk next to full size spare tire for emergency use if needed.

  • Interstate battery 2010 when car was purchased as preventative, and late 2013 during alternator replace

  • Brand new not remanufactured Alternator in late 2013, battery replaced at same time of alternator as precautionary measure.

  • Windshield wiper motor due to age

  • Updated Ford vacuum hose assembly to remedy known “hoot” sound. Early Ford design flaw. Google for more information

  • Motorcraft double platinum 100k mile plugs at 130k ish mark as part of tune-up along with 1 replacement motorcraft COP coil assembly.

  • Transmission filter kit and full fluid change and flush early 2014.

  • Replacement front driver’s window regulator and motor due to age of vehicle normal tune-up items (air filters, oil filters) LED bulbs in front interior foot wells for cleaner lighting and appearance.

As you can see pretty much most of the big ticket items that would need to be replaced or repaired on a car I have already invested the money. I love my car but outdoor equipment and Lincoln interiors would not mix. The car does show its age a little bit for being 15 years old, the front and rear bumpers have some stone chips, there are a few minor dings and scratches on the side from parking lots, trunk lid shows a few micro scratches that would buff out. One of the pictures shows slight damage to a trim panel on the front passenger door at the very bottom edge, but cannot be seen from outside unless the car is on a lift, I’m assuming one of the previous owners misjudged a curb. You can see paint fading/flaking on the door black inserts, they can be easily removed and professionally painted to bring back to stock look, they look to be aluminum or cast, so they will never rust and this is only a cosmetic issue and nothing else. I also have to disclose that the CEL sometimes comes on and goes off showing a code of P420 which is catalyst efficiency. I believe it’s linked to a coil that is slowly starting to show its age and only shows when it’s extremely hot weather in Florida. Snap-On scanner shows no misfires on any of the COP assemblies and the pre and post cat o2 sensors show working properly. Car still gets stated gas mileage and drives fine and will not strand you. Oil changes in my possession have been ever 3000 miles with quality conventional oil and either Motorcraft or Fram filters.

Car is sold as-is where is, No warranty since I’m a private seller

If you’re an out of state purchaser, I can meet the auto transporter that you chose to use in a reasonable travel area of Orlando, it will be buyers responsibility to arrange transport and payment terms with auto transport company, I will meet them, hand over everything that is needed, take documentation pictures and sign inspection paperwork if buyer wants that from transport company, once vehicle leaves my possession I will take off auto insurance coverage from it and it will be sole responsibility of transport company.

Lincoln Continental sent 'into the vault' ... again

Wed, Jul 1 2020

Ford confirmed today that the Lincoln Continental will be discontinued for North America after the 2020 model year. The news certainly isn't surprising given the Continental's meager sales figures, lukewarm critical reception and the fact that the Navigator has resoundingly entrenched itself as the brand's true modern flagship. "The name will go back into the vault," Lincoln spokesperson Angie Kozleski told the Detroit Free Press. "It has a long and rich history. But production for this vehicle will be ending at the end of this year." In an official statement, the brand said the decision was due to the continued decline of full-size premium sedans in the United States. The Continental is built in Flat Rock, Mich., and dates back to 2017 when Lincoln resurrected the nameplate after a 15-year hiatus. The car itself technically replaced the unloved MKS in Lincoln's lineup, and although based on a well-received concept car, the actual production model failed to live up to the rather grand style statement that had been promised. The interior in particular was a letdown. Lincoln sold 6,586 Continentals in 2019; likely many of those were fleet sales. Nevertheless, it can be argued that this Continental triggered Lincoln's rebirth. It was named something, for starters, as the Nautilus, Aviator and Corsair would eventually follow, signaling the end to the unloved and confusing MK nomenclature. And although it didn't live up to its concept, Lincoln at least learned from the episode and didn't repeat the mistake with Navigator or Aviator. They came as promised.  Though it's dead in the U.S., the Continental will live on for 2021 in China, where its sales are in decline but not by as much. And although it'll likely be remembered as a footnote in the long history of cars named Lincoln Continental, and with few fans in its corner, at least it reaches the end of the line having left a mark. Cue the Traveling Wilburys.  This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Ford CEO Jim Hackett reviewing the future of technology, Lincoln, overseas markets

Mon, Jul 31 2017

By Paul Lienert and Joseph White Ford Chief Executive Jim Hackett is reviewing the automaker's operations in India and other markets, as well as Ford's future product programs including plans to build a self-driving commercial vehicle in 2021. Hackett, who took over as CEO in May, has told investors he is working on a 100-day review of Ford's operations but has so far provided few details of the process, except to indicate that it is looking at the automakers' luxury vehicle strategy, the future of its small vehicles and investments in emerging markets. Ford Chief Financial Officer Bob Shanks told Reuters in an interview that the review covers a range of issues, including Ford's strategy for India. "We have a lot of work to do (as) we address issues of how to fix India," Shanks said. "Everything is on the table." General Motors in May said it would stop selling cars in India but continue to produce vehicles there for export. Shanks said no decisions have been made and noted that Ford has a larger business in India than GM did. "We are very cognizant that will be the third-largest market in the world," he said. "Some big decisions will be made," Shanks said, but he cautioned Ford may not disclose all those decisions at the end of the 100-day review. Hackett is addressing challenges that have contributed to a nearly 8 percent decline in Ford's share price this year. The review of the Lincoln luxury brand includes whether current plans will meet former CEO Mark Fields' ambitious targets for growth and revenue, people familiar with the process said. Ford has set a target of putting a self-driving shuttle into commercial ride-sharing fleets by 2021. Hackett is reviewing the investment and timing for that project, the sources said. Hackett also assessing whether to reduce and consolidate production of models such as the Fiesta subcompact and two midsized sedans that are built in multiple locations around the world, but are experiencing slowing demand. One proposal would shift production of the next-generation Mondeo midsized sedan from Europe to Mexico, where it would share an assembly line with its sibling, the Ford Fusion, avoiding the cost of retooling two plants. Shortly after he took charge, Hackett approved a proposal to shift production of the next-generation Focus for North America from Mexico to China, saving the company an estimated $500 million by consolidating two factories into one.
