Thanks for viewing this very rare luxury group Mark IV.  Its rarity stems from the fact that few Marks in 1976 were produced with the combination of the dark emerald exterior paint you see in the photos paired with a dark green leather interior trimmed in silver that signifies the luxury group package.  Most jade luxury package cars with this option configuration featured a very light jade exterior with the dark green leather interior.  They are certainly attractive cars in their own right, but the combination you see before you is superior in my opinion.  My favorite time to drive is in the evening, just as the sun is going down, because often times the light of the setting sun will play off beautiful paintwork in unexpected ways and it is especially true with this deep green coloring and that long, generous hood.  In fact, on one such evening I swear that the entirity of a gorgeous pink-red sunset was reflected in that tremendous expanse of metalwork underwhich hummed that big, smooth 460.  Needless to say I drove due west much further than I had planned, until the sun had disappeared below the horizon and the spectacular, impromptu lightshow to which I'd been treated finally reached an end.  The special thing about this Lincoln is that even though nature's beauty had darkened until morning, that treat was replaced by the soft green glow of the gauge cluster and the Cartier clock illuminating the interior and casting shadows on the dark leather all around, which was about the best substitute I can imagine.

This Mark is an extremely well cared-for example that shows a level of preservation that you will look long and hard to match, if you ever manage to do so.  A good friend of mine in the collector car world who has followed Marks avidly for more than a decade called it the best he has ever seen.    The interior is absolutely flawless -- the seats, the armrests, and steering wheel -- and the paint and brightwork are equally spectacular.  It sits on correct Michelin X tires and appears in every other way to be the ideal of originality.  A modern stereo is the only deviation from this status, but it is hidden nicely in the glovebox and only adds to the joy of driving this fine automobile.

If you are a serious buyer I would love to speak with you, because for the next few weeks this car is for sale.  I am not a terribly motivated seller because of its color combination and condition, but I feel I must put this Lincoln out here for the world to see and for someone to possibly acquire or my collection becomes a hoarding of beautiful objects rather than a celebration of what a select group of American men and women of drive and character and vision were able to create, which is really what a car collection should be.  So if the photographs I have included move you as much as owning this car has moved me, then hopefully I will hear from you, if only to voice your appreciation of this car or to tell me your own Mark story, because I love to hear of the existence of other Lincolns that are truly treasured by their owners.

If you make an offer that I am seriously considering I will contact you via email before accepting it just to confirm that you are a real person and that you do understand the payment terms detailed in my listing.  I find everything works much more smoothly if we touch base on these items.

Ford workers vote to ratify new four-year UAW contract

Sat, Nov 16 2019

DETROIT — The United Auto Workers union said on Friday that rank-and-file members at Ford have voted in favor of a new four-year labor contract with the No. 2 U.S. automaker. The UAW will now focus on Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), the sole remaining Detroit automaker without a new labor contract. Talks with FCA are expected to begin on Monday, a UAW spokesman said. The union said 56.3% of Ford's hourly workers voted to approve the deal, which allowed the company to avoid a strike like the one that cost its larger rival General Motors about $3 billion (GBP2.3 billion). UAW leaders said earlier this month that Ford under the deal agreed to invest more than $6 billion in its U.S. plants, and to create or retain more than 8,500 UAW jobs. The deal also includes pay raises and lump-sum payments over the life of the contract, a pathway to full-time employment for temporary employees and unchanged healthcare coverage. Workers at GM approved a deal in late October that ended a contentious 40-day U.S. strike, the longest automotive labor stoppage since 1970. Detailed terms of the Ford deal — released just a week after GM workers approved their new contract — echoed those agreed to with GM, as the union typically uses the first deal as a template for those that follow. UAW leaders managed contract negotiations with Ford and GM, including the lengthy strike, while struggling with an ongoing federal corruption probe. To date, 10 people have pleaded guilty in connection with the criminal investigation into illegal payoffs. Just last week former UAW vice president and former GM board member Joseph Ashton was charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering and wire fraud. Earlier this month the UAW said that its president, Gary Jones, who had been linked to the ongoing corruption probe, was taking a leave of absence. Rory Gamble, the union's acting head, said last week he will examine every department of the union in response to the spreading federal corruption probe to prevent future misuse of members' dues.

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
