For auction at LOW RESERVE is my 1983 Lincoln Mark VI, which is a California rust-free car with very low miles (>38k) and very little wear. The beautiful graphite plush leather interior is like new, soft and supple. Like sitting on a nice leather couch. The interior shows no wear. Dash, carpet, etc.  in great shape. New floor mats. The original black over silver paint is bright and shiny, as is the chrome. Vinyl roof is new condition. Only a few minor paint blemishes, you'd never guess the paint is 31 years old! I just replaced the aging pinstripes, and the new ones are sharp looking!

The car rides and drives like my new Lincoln. The A/C blows ice cold. The tires, battery, brakes are new. The car has been completely serviced (including the transmission) and runs as it should. The only weak point on these engines is the water pump, and a new one was just installed. The car instantly starts. It smoothly, and quietly, glides straight down the road. You will be pleased with the mechanical condition.

Any negatives? I ordered a new power antenna for it; the previous owner left a new one for me to install, but it did not work. Guess what-the one I ordered had motor failure also and I just sent it back. So you  can deal with it, they are inexpensive and easy to install. The right door lock is hard to lock at times, may be just an adjustment. Otherwise the Mark is good to go anywhere.

So why am I selling such a nice car that I've had only a short time? I just found and bought the muscle car of my dreams, as luck would have it, right after I bought the Mark VI. I'm out of room because I have several other classic 50's cars, and at my age (just started getting social security) I've got enough cars to keep up with. Something has to go! So I'm thinning the herd.

The car is being sold "As is-Where is", meaning you arrange for pickup and shipping at your expense. I can refer you to a local shipper who has given me excellent service on many  occasions. There are no warranties. either express or implied. A non-refundable $500 deposit through Pay Pal is required within 24 hours. Balance is due via wire transfer or cashier's check before the clear title and car is released to the buyer. The Mark VI easily passed the recent CA smog test, if that is a concern for you. Burned as clean as a new car.

Lincoln may add suicide doors to future Continental

There's been plenty of uncertainty surrounding the future of the Lincoln Continental, a nameplate revived only 18 months ago but struggling to move units as sedans submit subduction-style to the techtonic boom in crossovers. We recently shared a report that the Continental won't live to see another generation after selling just 18,846 units in its year-and-a-half back on the market. Now comes a report from Automotive News saying that Lincoln at the 2018 NADA convention in Las Vegas showed a photo of the Continental with rear-hinged doors and said it plans to manufacture it. The publication cited several dealers who were in the room but didn't want to be identified. Lincoln, of course, isn't saying anything about rear-hinged suicide doors except to say that "Continental is an important part of the Lincoln family." The announcement at NADA was reportedly meant to convey a commitment to cars by Lincoln, which has been buoyed by crossovers like the MKC and its red-hot Navigator large SUV. There was no word on timing or other details about the suicide door-equipped Continental. Lincoln sold just 1,573 units of the sedan through February, down about 25 percent on the annualized monthly rate. Still, if Lincoln wants to plant its flag in the car segment, then its flagship is probably a good place to start. The Continental nameplate, which was revived in New York in 2015 as a concept, enjoys a long design lineage, of course, and boasted production suicide doors on the 1961 Continental Mk V. The luxury sedan also inspired one artist to reimagine the Continental as a two-door coupe, true to its original 1939 styling and demonstrating the car's versatility. And the car already has some concept-style futuristic touches, including hidden electric door handles and 30-way adjustable front seats. But suicide doors have mostly been relegated these days to concept vehicles, one-offs like this Rolls-Royca Sweptail and the Tesla Semi truck. So should we see this as a way for Lincoln to draw some attention to a struggling nameplate? Related Video:

Lincoln hopes month-by-month leasing will woo luxury clients

Lincoln is launching a new subscription-based service that will allow customers to lease any of its vehicles on a month-by-month basis as part of a new suite of services aimed at offering flexibility and converting buyers. The luxury brand has also been operating a pilot program in which dealers bring Lincoln vehicles to consumers' homes for them to test drive on their own time — and sometimes even complete the entire sales process at their homes. Lincoln also announced on the heels of the L.A. Auto Show a new collaboration with Clear, a company that provides expedited screening at security gates at airports and sports arenas, plus an expansion of its Lincoln Personal Driver service, formerly known as Lincoln Chauffeur, to Dallas. Kumar Galhotra, Lincoln's president, said the company is trying to create a brand experience for consumers that is warm, human and effortless, and that the new services are based on consumer research that equates time with luxury. "We take this philosophy of warm, human and effortless, and we really embed it" in the vehicles and ownership experience, he said. Lincoln plans to launch its vehicle subscription service early next year, likely in "a couple California cities," Galhotra said, that allows consumers to lease any Lincoln vehicle on a monthly basis. While Lincoln did not announce pricing, the program is based on Ford Credit's Canvas program, which offers monthly subscriptions to pre-owned Ford vehicles and come with insurance, maintenance and warranty coverage. The service is so far offered only in the Bay Area and parts of Los Angeles. The service appears to be similar to the $1,500-a-month Book by Cadillac service and Care by Volvo. Robert Parker, Lincoln's global director of marketing, sales and service, said the service will allow consumers the option of upgrading to larger-size vehicles without being locked into a traditional two-year lease. "We acknowledge the fact that we are a challenger brand. We're not at the scale of the Germans," Parker said. "We certainly aspire to continue to grow, that's not our No. 1 focus.

Ford's struggles in China continue as November sales drop 8 percent

Ford's sales in China fell 8 percent in November from a year ago, following a 5 percent decline in October, the U.S. automaker said on Monday. The firm's sales in the first 11 months of the year totaled 1.06 million vehicles, down 6 percent from the same period a year ago. Ford's China sales growth has lagged behind rivals in the world's top auto market this year, with the carmaker now looking to overhaul its strategy to revive growth in China under new chief executive Jim Hackett. Among other moves, the review of its China operations will likely see Ford focus on segments such as electric cars and electric commercial vans, with China encouraging to help clean up its polluted and congested city centers. Ford is looking to roll out more new-energy vehicles for China and is planning to experiment with a more direct selling approach in a partnership with Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.
