Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States

Up for sale is my 2-owner, 1974 Lincoln Continental Mark IV Convertible, 460 cu. in. engine, automatic transmission, 48,491 documented original miles, dark burgundy body color with a tan convertible roof and tan leather interior.  Overall the car is in great condition and has been garaged all its life.  Options include power convertible top, power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, A/C, AM/FM radio, power windows and locks, power trunk, power seats, power antenna, cruise control, tilt steering, remote passenger outside mirror and lighted vanity mirrors.  Most options work as they should except that the A/C needs to be charged and the vanity mirror lights are missing.  The paint shines beautifully and accents a clean, straight body.  The top surfaces of the painted areas however show signs of age – but this by no means takes away from how great the car looks.  The interior is original and in nice condition.  The convertible top material looks excellent and powers up and down nicely as it should.  Convertible top boot is also in excellent condition and fits as it should.  The bumpers shine nicely showing only small signs of age primarily on the rear one.  The car has a nice set of tru-spoke wire wheels on it with tires that are like new.  There are non-operative, decorative spot lights installed on the front fenders that look great and add to the vintage period appearance of the car.  The underside of the car is solid and clean (see pictures).  Engine starts up quiet, shifts and drives good.  No disappointments!  IMPORTANT ... PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY!!!  I have disclosed what I know about my car to the best of my ability and to the best of my knowledge.  The car is sold "as-is" and is located in the Pittsburgh, PA area.  It can either be picked up at or delivered from my location.  Buyer will need to arrange for ALL shipping requirements including payment! If you have any questions or you are unsure as to my descriptions, please feel free to email me.  It is your responsibility to understand exactly what it is you are bidding on. Thank you.  By winning the bid, you have entered into a binding contract.  I require a non-refundable $500 deposit within 48 hours of the auction close.  The car must be paid for in full and picked up within 7 days of auction close.  See specific payment requirements listed below.

Lincoln considering giving cars real names again

Wed, Apr 22 2015

Enthusiastic reaction to the Continental concept might be the death knell for Lincoln's alphabet soup of monikers. "Without divulging the future, we're very excited about the Continental name and the attention it's gotten," Ford President of the Americas Joe Hinrichs said to Automotive News. Hinrichs admitted that the current MK names could confuse those not familiar with the models. Hinrichs suggested that one way Lincoln might differentiate itself was to "leverage its heritage." While this is certainly nothing explicit, the talk could be an indication of an upcoming overhaul for the brand's naming scheme. The Continental is set to hit the market next year as a replacement for the MKS as the company makes a major push into China. Lincoln bosses reportedly gave the designers the model name as inspiration for what to create. The brand's health has slowly been improving since former Ford CEO Alan Mulally was ready to completely kill the brand. Last year, a new boss was appointed to the helm, and there were reports of a modular platform under development. Let us know in Comments what Lincoln names you want to see revived. The Town Car is likely the best-known model from the brand after the Continental, and Zephyr has fairly recent history as the brief moniker for the MKZ. Related Video:

Rebranding When Reinvention Is Requisite
Lincoln - pardon us, the Lincoln Motor Company - assures us that Ford is committed to its success. The awkwardness of the statement (which feels vaguely like your mother telling you that she loves and supports you regardless of what everyone else thinks) was hard to escape when we recently spent a few days with the all-new second-generation 2013 Lincoln MKZ.
Launched earlier this year at the 2012 New York Auto Show, the MKZ is a midsize premium sedan that shares platforms with the Ford Fusion (also all-new for 2013). The sedan's primary competitors, according to Lincoln, include the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Cadillac CTS and Lexus ES Series sedans - each an established, accomplished player.

Ford recalls 1.9m cars and crossovers for defective airbags

Wed, Jun 1 2016

The Basics: Ford is recalling a total of 1,898,728 vehicles to replace defective Takata front passenger-side airbags. This includes the 2007-2010 Ford Edge, 2006-2011 Ford Fusion, 2005-2011 Ford Mustang, 2007-2011 Ford Ranger, 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX and 2006-2011 Lincoln MKZ, Zephyr and Mercury Milan vehicles built in North America. The Problem: The defective airbags have been linked to ruptures that can send metal fragments at the passenger, due to deteriorating propellant. Injuries/Deaths: Ford claims it's not aware of any injuries due to the problem, but rupturing Takata airbags have been linked to a series of serious injuries and deaths. The Fix: Dealers will replace the passenger-side frontal airbag at no charge to the customer. If you own one: Look out for a letter from the manufacturer to arrange service at your local dealer. If you'd like to check if your vehicle is affected, click on the safety recalls link on Ford.com and enter your VIN. Related Video:
