1970 Lincoln Mkiii - 570 Hp! on 2040-cars
Bulverde, Texas, United States
This car runs/drives fantastic! It will snap your neck if you get on the gas! I have a ton more pics at plus.google.com/u/0/photos/106533163191656663781/albums/6035246232177761409 if you're interested. Videos I took: youtube.com/watch?v=b3VG-IVbYjA&feature=youtu.be youtube.com/watch?v=zkeITVYRx-4&feature=youtu.be youtube.com/watch?v=lZnGsMXf3SE&feature=youtu.be youtube.com/watch?v=al0OgT6-OtI&feature=youtu.be youtube.com/watch?v=qyhRcWca1kU&feature=youtu.be I had intended on keeping this car, but I've taken up a new hobby so this baby has to go! I've priced this to sell - I could easily get $12K if I wanted to wait, lucky for you I don't. This price is not negotiable so don't contact me with any "offers". And if you click on "buy it now" and back out, you owe me $125, because that's what ebay will charge me for your mistake. 1. Engine was just overhauled by a reputable engine rebuilder and should last 250,000 miles +. I put a lot of high quality parts in that engine that will make it very reliable and POWERFUL! It's dyno'd at the crank at 570 hp and 630 ft lbs of torque! I have the dyno results to prove it. I also have receipts of $5K for the engine work with the detailed list of all the parts. 2. A/C blows ICE COLD air! I just paid $1,700 to have it completely converted to R134a - new condenser, lines, rotary compressor, drier, expansion valve. 3. Car tracks true and rides like it should. I've replaced pretty much every front end component, all four coil springs, shocks, steering box, steering coupler and tires to get it this way. 4. Both power seats function perfectly. 5. Radio and antenna work great. 6. Clock keeps perfect time! 7. Alternator/charging system works great 8. Radiator has been cleaned/rodded out. 9. Exhaust manifolds have no gaskets - so no more blown gaskets to replace. 10. Power windows work great. (not the two little windows) 11. Transmission, rear-end, brakes, all in great shape. That's the mechanical - on the body I got it in great shape. All I did was painstakingly get all the pieces necessary to put together four PERFECT hub caps! The car also comes with: 1. Brand new $80 car cover 2. Complete set of factory manuals to include wiring diagrams. 3. Original air cleaner 4. A box of pieces/parts from the original owner. Car is located in the San Antonio Texas area. I have contacts and can help arrange shipping, for US and overseas. I'm more than happy to have a PPI done at your expense if you wish. |

How Lincoln could make itself special again
Tue, May 9 2017Things are going better for the Lincoln brand — or, more properly, The Lincoln Motor Company — so far this year, and are likely to continue to do so, comparatively speaking. In the first quarter of 2017, the brand's sales are up 8.7 percent compared with the same period last year. Lincoln delivered 27,083 units in the first quarter. The Continental is certainly a boon, with 3,209 units (almost 12 percent of the total number), something Lincoln didn't have in the first quarter of 2016. Its crossovers, the MKC and MKX, were up 15 and 11.2 percent, respectively, and while the Navigator SUV was down 16.2 percent, the new 2018 model will certainly boost that nameplate. Still, there is undoubtedly a glass — or crystal — ceiling for Lincoln (as well as for Cadillac) that it's not likely to break through regarding total US sales. No matter how you look at it, the US luxury market is dominated by import brands, and there is no reason to think that's going to change. Ever. According to Autodata, for the first quarter of 2017 there were 213,817 luxury vehicles delivered, of which 170,780 were from import brands and 43,037 domestic. While there is a good likelihood that Lincoln will gain some ground, given the lineup extensions that the likes of Mercedes, Audi, BMW, and Lexus are making, as well as the creation of new brands like Genesis and the traction of Tesla, it is going to be all the more challenging for any company to get any significant growth in the luxury category. So growth for Lincoln, yes. Notable growth? No. But there is something the company could do to generate revenue separate from the car and crossover business. It may not make a lot of money in and of itself, but it can provide a distinct edge in the product segment that would cement Lincoln with a unique offering. Kumar Galhorta, president of Lincoln, frequently talks about "experiences." About how the company is working to relieve or eliminate "pain points" from its customers. About how time — or the perceived lack thereof — is something Lincoln is working to address. And it's doing so in a way that gives it a distinctiveness vis-a-vis the competitive set. Lincoln's services are creating a buzz in a way that Matthew McConaughey ads never will. Lincoln is addressing it through service. As in offering pickup and delivery for service appointments for all new 2017 Lincoln models.
More head-up displays are coming to a dashboard near you
Tue, Feb 27 2018With the exception of Apple products — $1,000 for a freakin' smartphone? — one great thing about tech is you typically get more for your money with each passing year. This is particularly true with automotive tech: Features like driver assists and surround-view cameras that were once exclusively available in luxury vehicles now come standard even on some economy cars. The same thing is slowly happening with head-up displays (HUD). For example, the 10-inch HUD in the 2018 Toyota Camry is one of the largest and best HUDs I've seen in any car. And a big improvement on the much smaller HUD in the latest Toyota Prius. Mazda is another mainstream brand that offers HUDs in several of its vehicles. But instead of embedding expensive components in the dash and using a special windshield, the HUDs in the Mazda3 and Mazda6 use a thin plastic lens that folds down when not in use. MINI has a similar solution, but this low-cost approach has limits in terms of size and position of the images compared to traditional HUDs that use the windshield as a screen. We're also starting to see similar lens-based aftermarket options that can be added to any car. Last year I tested a portable HUD called Navdy that taps into a car's OBD-II port to provide info on speed and RPM and uses built-in GPS and Google Maps to show the surrounding area, display speed limits and route you to your destination. Navdy also connects to an Android or iOS smartphone via Bluetooth to display data from phone calls, texts and music playing on a connected device, and it's simple to use and easily visible in almost any lighting condition. While Navdy is still available online, late last year the company ran into financial difficulties, and product support has been halted. I recently tested a new portable HUD called Hudly that's not quite fully baked and falls short of Navdy because it doesn't tap into an OBD-II port. Since a companion smartphone app for Hudly isn't scheduled to launch until next month, for now it only mirrors what's on a smartphone. So it can be used for nav and other apps, and its features are very limited. Between automakers adding HUDs in more reasonably priced cars and the aftermarket filling in the gaps for existing vehicle owners with add-ons, the technology is becoming more prevalent and affordable. And it's also getting better.
Ford abandons MyFord Touch, all hail Sync 3 infotainment [w/video]
Thu, Dec 11 2014MyFord Touch has been among the most widely disdained automotive infotainment systems on the market, practically since its introduction in 2010. Consumer Reports was among the most vocal critics, all but advocating its lynching by an angry mob armed with torches and pitchforks. Not surprisingly, then, after such a critical walloping, Ford has finally decided to say goodbye to the unloved tech, declaring the end of MyFord Touch branding in favor of Sync 3 for its upcoming, all-new system. Ford is promising everything you would expect from Sync 3, including faster response time, better voice-command integration, easier controls and a more useable interface. The screen layout includes fewer items to make them easier to discern, and the icons are made from large, high-contrast buttons. There's also a dedicated tab for apps at the bottom of the screen in addition to those for audio, climate, phone and navigation. Another useful feature is the fact that Sync 3 can download improvements over your home Wi-Fi for easier updates. In addition to the revamped interface, the software running behind the scenes is a big change too. Rather than MyFord Touch's Microsoft-sourced system, Sync 3 uses the Blackberry-owned QNX, according to Automotive News. Such a switch was rumored earlier this year. Drivers still have to live with MyFord Touch a little longer, though. According to Automotive News, Ford said that the change to Sync 3 will happen during the 2016 model year with complete integration into the lineup by the end of the 2016 calendar year. It will come standard on Titanium trim models and as a separate option will be priced in line with the current MyFord Touch. The Sync 3 brand will carry over to Lincoln, too, but with a different look. The gallery above shows a few more looks at the interface, and we invite you to scroll down to watch a video of Sync 3 in action and to read Ford's press release about it, below.
