Hello,

Up for Auction is a 1942 Lincoln Zephyr 4 door Sedan.

I'm listing this car for a friend of mine who's husband unfortunately passed away a few years ago.  I honestly don't know much about the history of the car, but will try to describe the car as best and as honestly as I can.

The body of the car is in outstanding condition.  I've crawled under the car several times and pulled back the carpeting.  There is absolutely no rust anywhere on the car.  The floor pans, trunk, inner fenders...etc. are all rust free.  There are a few very small dents, one on the top of the left front fender, that I can see, but only under florescent lights.  The car looks like it was repainted once before many years ago.  I believe the paint is a single stage paint.  There are some surface scratches around the trunk area, but I believe these could be buffed out.  I've put a body magnet over the car and I can't find any signs of bondo.  All of the panels, truck, doors, hood..etc.  line up very well and are very strait.  The passenger door does stick a little, could be a hinge that is sticking.  Over all the body is in great condition, strait and accident free.

The trim on the car is in fairly good shape.  It looks like the head light bezels where replaced and have been polished.  All of the stainless trim is in good shape and has been polished.  However, I do believe there is some trim that goes on the sides of the hood that is missing.   (see pictures)  The car does have the stainless 1942 grill.  It is in very nice shape and from what I have been told is hard to find.  Many of the earlier cars (1942) had the grills replaced with the newer 1946-7 grills.  The bumpers, front and back are in great shape, strait and the chrome is still very nice.

The interior looks to have been re-done a few years ago as well.  From what I have researched, the interior is very period correct.  It seems to be a felt like material with the correct pattern (see pictures)  This includes the door panels, headliner and seats.  The stainless pieces for the door panels is all intact.  I did see that the drive window crank is not attached.

The dash and all of the gauges are in really nice shape.  I did find a receipt in the glove box for a company that had fixed (reconditioned ) the speedometer.  I did notice that the courtesy lights are missing from the back seat door panels, but the wires are there.  The light bezels look like they are in the box of parts that will come with the car.  The radio is also in the box, but not currently in the dash.  I believe this was taken out to be fixed as well.

The engine is a V12 and looks very clean under the hood.  The car still has the 6 volt electrical system.  Under the hood is very clean, but again looks period correct.  No one has tried to rattle can anything on the car.  Currently the car is not running only because it has a dead battery which I'm in the process of resolving as soon as the new battery is delivered.  The car ran and drove great a few years ago before the owner passed away.  I'm guessing the new owner might need to remove the old gas from the tank.  I will say that there is little to no gas in the tank currently.  Again, the car ran very well and was registered and insured back in early 2011.

Finally, the owner that passed away owned the car for the better part of last 50 years.  The car was always in a garage here in Colorado.  I believe it was a good solid car and that he was trying to fix little items (radio, speedo..etc) as he found the time.  As an example, it looks like all of the rubber on the car, fender seals, truck seal door seals have been replaced.  All of the glass in the car is in fantastic condition and looks to be original.

This car is only being sold in the US.  Shipping is the buyers responsibility!  I can help load the car on the transport truck.  Deposit of $500 is required in 48 hours of auction closing and full payment within 3 Days by certified/cashiers check.  Please do not bid if you have no intention of paying for the car!  The lady I'm selling the car for is moving from her home and we have a limited amount of time to sell the car.

Not sure what else I can add, but please feel free to email me if you have questions and I will do the best I can to get those answered ASAP.

Thank you for looking.

Ford is recalling more Takata airbag-equipped Ford and Lincoln models

Thu, Mar 2 2017

The Basics: Takata, the beleaguered airbag supplier at the root of the largest recall in automotive history, has informed Ford of a problem with the airbags in just over 30,000 Ford and Lincoln models. The problem is not related to the non-desiccated ammonium nitrate airbag inflators that plague the other airbags ( including many Fords), meaning there isn't a risk of shrapnel flying out from the units in this particular recall. The Problem: In the event of an accident, the front airbags may only partially inflate, and the airbag may become detached from the module because of misaligned parts. The problem affects 2016 and 2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models built at the Oakville Assembly Plant. The issue also affects 2017 Lincoln Continentals that were built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant. Injuries/Deaths: In a release, Ford stated that it is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or deaths related to the airbag issue. The Fix: Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag module at no cost. If You Own One: Sit tight and wait for Ford to notify owners. When that happens, take your car to the dealer for a replacement. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Ford faces class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles without brake override systems

Fri, 29 Mar 2013

A total of 20 Ford customers are suing the automaker in a class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles "vulnerable to unintended acceleration." According to Reuters, the suit names 30 models built between 2002 and 2010 with electronic throttle control systems but without a brake override system. Those include the 2004-2012 F-Series pickups and the 2005-2009 Lincoln Town Car. Adam Levitt, a partner with the law firm of Grant & Eisenhofer says the plaintiffs in the case want "to be compensated for their economic losses by having overpaid for cars that contained defects." Levitt contends that the plaintiffs would not have bought their vehicles or paid less for them had they known there was no brake override system in place.
Ford began installing brake override systems in its vehicles beginning in 2010. In response to the lawsuit, Ford has pointed to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that indicated that unintended acceleration is mostly caused by driver error, saying in a statement that, "NHTSA's work is far more scientific and trustworthy than work done by personal injury lawyers and their paid experts."
Belville et al v. Ford Motor Co. will be heard in US District Court in the Southern District of West Virginia.
