2017 Acura NSX #001 is finally here | Autoblog Minute

The first 2017 Acura NZX rolls off the line in Ohio and Lincoln may be ditching some initials for a classic nameplate. Senior Editor Greg Migliore reports on this edition of Autoblog Minute. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] The first 2017 Acura NSX rolled off the assembly line this week in Marysville, Ohio. Marking the return of the iconic supercar. VIN #001 went to Nascar Owner Rick Handpick. He paid $1.2M at auction for the first NSX. The proceeds went to charity. The 2017 NSX uses a twin turbo V6 teamed with three electric motors to make a total of 573-hp and 476-lb.ft of torque. The supercar also runs a nine speed dual clutch transmission and AWD. The starting price is $157,800 but you can option this thing out to well over $200k. Ford Motor Company applied this month to get the rights to the trademark for the word Zephyr. Lincoln is using some real names again aside from these MKC and MKX things that don't mean a lot to the general public. The Navigator is going strong and a new one comes on next year. Plus it brought back the Continental which was a well revived move. So Zephyr should ring a bell it was used in the 1930s and 40s, it was also used a little less memorably in 2006 on a Lincoln model that was essentially a rebadged Ford Fusion. Lincoln bringing in MKZ Hybrid over rollaway risk

Federal safety standards require that every new car needs to have the brake depressed in order to shift it out of Park. But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found fault in the transmission range sensor on certain examples of the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, allowing the car to be shifted out of Park without first depressing the brake. The fear is that with this condition, affected vehicles may be unintentionally pulled out of Park, resulting in a possible rollaway. That safety concern has prompted parent Ford Motor Company to issue a recall.
The issue pertains to 7,153 examples of the MKZ Hybrid built between April 26, 2012 and September 24, 2013, covering the 2013 and 2014 model years. As a result, Ford will notify owners to bring their MKZs into their local Lincoln dealer to have the Powertrain Control Module software updated in order to rectify the problem. Would a Mustang-based Lincoln look like this?

Designer Josiah LaCalla has taken a stab at what a Ford Mustang-based Lincoln model might look like with the Continental Mark X1 concept. Make no mistake, Ford's luxury arm has made it abundantly clear that it won't be pursuing any new products outside of volume models, which means a flashy halo grand tourer like the one you see here isn't in the cards. LaColla used the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as a basis for his creation, which explains the long nose, but we certainly don't mind the idea of a rear-wheel drive Lincoln with a cabin pushed to the aft.
While we're dreaming, there's certainly nothing stopping us from imagining what's under that lengthy hood. We like the idea of the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 from the Shelby GT500 pushing the Mark X1 down the road, but how about something a little more inventive? Something like a high-revving, buttery V12 with enough torque to push the contraption well past 200 miles per hour. Dream a little dream, people.
