If you are looking at this car, you probably already know all the interesting facts about the Continental Mark II. If you don't, check here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continental_Mark_II

Offered here for your consideration is a 1956 Mark II with leather interior and factory air conditioning. About the only options offered for these cars were leather, seat belts, and air conditioning. This car was special ordered with no seat belts and is still without them. The vin on this car includes "SO" signifying that it was a special order car. The original owner was an older man in Niles Ohio. His name is engraved on a plaque on the floor of the car.

In 1976 he sold the car to its second owner who lived in Pinellas County, FL. The car was repainted at that time in its factory original color (Tan Lucite Metallic). New carpet was installed at that time as well. The second owner told me he drove and enjoyed the car for 6 or 7 years and then parked it inside his garage and basically left it alone. In 2003 he took the car to Lincoln Land in Clearwater FL and advertised it for sale. I purchased the car at that time and became only the third owner of this vehicle. Though the car had been sitting for many years, it did run and I drove it home to Tampa. The car ran rough so I took it back to Lincoln Land and had master mechanic, Eric, complete an extensive service to the engine and rebuild the carburetor etc. Not long after getting her running right, the reverse gear went out in the transmission. Back to Lincoln Land where the trans. was removed and sent out for a total rebuild. The car had around 60,000 original miles when I bought it. Over the next several years I added another 20,000. Over the last few years, I have lost interest in the car and it has not been driven near as much.

I have well over $20,000 in the car including over $8,000 of service at Lincoln Land (receipts available). About a year ago I had the car transported to Lincoln Land to have a new fuel line installed. I bought 2 additional collector cars and had run out of garage space. The car has been at Lincoln Land in covered storage since that time. The owner there is ready for me to get the car out of their way so I recently went over to take the photos you see here. Though the car had been sitting for many months, we simply poured a little gas in the carb. and attached a charged battery and she fired right up. I washed her off and took these photos. Here is the link to the set of recent photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/clayw/sets/72157635049738178/

The car is ready for a complete cosmetic restoration. She is very solid and complete. She runs strong and the transmission is great. I expect she needs brake work, suspension work and a new exhaust system. The factory air conditioning does not work and has not worked as long as I've owned the car. The original leather is quite dry rotted and needs to be replaced. The power seat works as does the power antenna. All the power windows were working but some of the switches are temperamental. I noticed when I took the recent photos that the switches on the passenger door were removed and the glass is cracked on that window. The original radio is in the dash but not working.

I had planned to sell the car a year or so ago before sending it to Lincoln land and I took extensive photos at that time. I am including links to these photos as they show many details and include shots with magnets on the car showing she is not full of bondo. While these photos are around a year old, the car really hasn't changed much because it has been in covered garage storage since they were taken. I just want to point out that they were taken earlier because I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to misrepresent the car. The first set of photos are quite recent. The dates that show with the photos are not correct. I don't know how to set the correct date in the digital camera and it is way off. Here are links to the photos taken about a year ago: http://www.flickr.com/photos/clayw/sets/72157632824234394/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/clayw/sets/72157632824266506/

Chris Dunn, owner of Lincoln Land, has known this car since the second owner brought it to Florida in 1976. The car has been serviced there since before I bought it. I welcome anyone interested in the car to come see it in person and drive it. I am not trying to hide anything about the car and am happy to reply to any interested parties. I would prefer to sell the car to someone who has actually seen it in person but I realize that's not always possible. This is why I am including so many photos and will be happy to answer all questions as best I can. I have included detailed descriptions with most of the photos. If you are interested in the car, please see all the photos and read the notes. If you have questions, I can be contacted by email at hclaywalkup@aol.com. I can be reached by phone most evenings between 7 and 10 pm at (813) 286-2500.

I have enjoyed owning this car but the time has come to let her go. She needs and deserves a good restoration and I'm just not up for it. I have moved on to other cars and now hope to find someone who has the interest and the will to buy and restore her to the condition she deserves.

2020 Lincoln Aviator Black Label Interior Driveway Test | The best American luxury

Wed, Sep 30 2020

It seems safe to say that Lincoln has finally managed to brush off its "fancy Ford" reputation. Nothing illustrates this better than Black Label, Lincoln’s range-topping trim level that elevates its various models' style, status and, of course, price. We recently found ourselves with a 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring (the plug-in hybrid) in Black Label trim, and decided it was time for a deeper look at what this trim gives you in LincolnÂ’s three-row crossover. In case youÂ’re new to Black Label, youÂ’ll need to know that Lincoln organizes the options into “themes.” For the Aviator, you have the choice of Flight (tan and black), Destination (a deep red featured in our Black Label Interior Tour video), and the Chalet (brown and cream) theme fitted to our test car. HereÂ’s how Lincoln describes it: “Chalet offers Espresso and Alpine Savannah leathers and deep Silverwood appliques, with touches designed to awaken the senses.” The colors and trims used are supposed to remind of long weekends in the Swiss Alps. ItÂ’s all a bit colorful and over the top, but Black Label is supposed to be exactly that. Despite being festooned with modern tech and features, the Aviator is remarkably old world in styling. Lincoln isnÂ’t trying to be a sporty American BMW like Cadillac has. Instead, Lincoln created its own identity and brand of American luxury, differentiating itself from Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lexus and others in doing so. Lincoln put together an interior layout that makes sense and doesnÂ’t alienate older, less tech-inclined buyers (you know, the demographic who not only typically buy Lincolns, but high-priced luxury cars in general). Sure, thereÂ’s a big 10-inch touchscreen perched above the air vents, but there are also physical buttons for all your climate controls and audio controls. You can adjust these systems through the screen, as well, but we think easy and safe toggles like these still deserve a place in cars. TheyÂ’re especially welcome when surrounded by expensive-feeling trim and backed by the pretty Silverwood.  WeÂ’re less fond of the button gear shifter, but at least itÂ’s not confusing and is something anybody could learn to live with. It also does a decent job of staying out of the way and leaving more space for storage. Lincoln gives you plenty of that in this crossover, too. A couple premium pull doors in the center console open to reveal USB ports, cupholders and a place to slot your phone.

2015 Lincoln MKC

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

Back in 2012, Lincoln claimed its comeback bid was finally underway with the new-for-2013 MKZ. But don't you believe them - the renaissance won't actually begin in earnest until the shapely compact crossover seen here reaches showrooms in big numbers. That's because while the four-door MKZ was indeed a proper step toward rebirth, the 2015 MKC is the first wholly conceived vehicle under Lincoln as a standalone brand, a move first announced back in 2012.
That's an important distinction, because Lincoln's newfound emancipation from Ford's design and development processes has given the struggling marque both the corporate wherewithal and the will to develop a more fully formed product. The four-wheeled result seen here is a surprisingly cohesive luxury CUV, one with significantly more aesthetic and dynamic separation from its Ford Escape sibling than the MKZ and its Fusion counterpart. Said another way, after flogging Lincoln's latest for hundreds of miles over canyon roads outside of Santa Barbara, we've come to understand that this is far from a re-grilled Dearborn special with luxury tinsel - it's a bona fide standalone product that readily displays the sort of clear differentiation seen in platform cousins like the Audi Q5 and the Volkswagen Tiguan. It's the real deal.

Lincoln Navigator is the people's choice for best of Detroit Auto Show

Wed, Jan 24 2018

At a big auto show, you hear a lot of from automotive journalists about the outstanding cars on display — for example, Autoblog's own editors' choices from the Detroit Auto Show. But the Detroit News does something neat instead. It asks the public to vote in its annual Readers' Choice Awards. And coming out on top was the 2018 Lincoln Navigator. The newspaper collars 100 attendees at the North American International Auto Show and asks them to vote. This year, the public's pick as Best of Show coincided with the North American Car of the Year voters, journalists who picked the Navigator as the Truck of the Year. (We at Autoblog were wowed by the Navigator, too, but our editors' choices were limited to vehicles that were revealed at the show — the Navigator has been out long enough, that we've actually driven and reviewed it.) The Navigator on display at the show has the ultra-plush Black Label interior. It's a $95,000 rig. No surprise then that hit was also the public's choice in the category of Best Road-Trip Ride. The public's other choices: Best Dream Machine — Ford GT. Best Family Fun Finder — Chrysler Pacifica. Baddest Off-Road Vehicle — Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Coolest Technology — BMW i8 Roadster. Most for Your Money — Kia Stinger. (Commenters on our recent Drivers' Notes review said the Stinger was a media darling the public won't buy, but these voters, at least, liked it.) Best Future Concept — Infiniti Q Inspiration. Most Eco-Friendly — Smart Fortwo. Most Amazing Mobility — Toyota Concept i-Walk. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
