All Original 1973 Lincoln Continental Mark Iv Meticulously Maintained on 2040-cars
Carlsbad, California, United States
This car has not been restored but has been meticulously maintained over the years. It is in tremendous shape, runs very strong no problems and everything works. It was purchased and owned by one owner from 1973 until I bought it about 3 months ago. I was amazed at the condition, the chrome is nearly perfect, and easy 9 or 10 rating on it's condition. The engine which is a big 460 V8 starts right up and runs great. The owners son had replaced the tires, radiator, carburetor, transmission, as well as repaired and kept up anything of concern over the years.
The white leather interior looks in pretty good shape though has normal wear for a 1973, the drivers seat however has cracks in the leather. Even though the interior is in good condition, if I were to keep it myself I would throw in nice new pristine white leaner to really make her pop. Everything is power, power seats that slide and tilt power windows power antenna and all of it works great! The Air conditioning, interior lights and even the old 8 track stereo work perfectly. This car was garage kept in California it's entire life. The original owner, a 96 year old woman unfortunately died and her Son sold the car to me. It had 25k original miles and it's condition reflects that. I would think this is one of those Holy Grail classic car finds that a Lincoln enthusiast dreams of coming across except I came across it but I am not a lincoln enthusiast so I just bought it to sell. I ahem had it in my garage and not been driving it other than to keep the engine exercised once a week maybe. I am happy to answer any and all questions so please ask anything you'd like. The only damage I can see it has sustained is a scrape next to the front passenger side bumper and rear passenger side bumper which looks like it was scraped while pulling out of a garage, it's really just paint not real dent or damage to the steel. The Black vinyl top is in pretty nice shape, looks good, the headliner in the interior does have a seam that looks to be ripping and taped. The owners son mentioned he replaced the steering wheel so the one in the car has a crack and is also from a 1974 Lincoln. Other than these minor areas of pretty normal wear the car will really excite you in how great she looks and well she functions. So for all this car people who like to buy old cars and bring them back to glory this one has about everything you would scour the internet searching for all ready to rock which should really put you ahead of the game if you chose to do any restoration at all. |

2018 Lincoln Navigator Review | 900 miles in mid-century opulence
Fri, Aug 10 2018PORTLAND, Ore. — Driving the 2019 Lincoln Navigator on my usual 80-mile evaluation route just wouldn't be sufficient. The quick jaunt through downtown Portland and out into wooded mountain roads couldn't possibly do justice to a vehicle intended for the literal long haul. All those seats; all that cargo space; all that comfort and opulence. What the Navigator needed was a road trip, so I took two of them — within five days, over 900 miles and a grand total of 20 hours and 17 minutes in the 24-way power-adjustable, massaging, ventilated saddle. The first journey would be from Portland down to Bend, Ore., and then working my way gradually back through central Oregon backroads. This included winding two-lane highways where the Navigator's excellent adaptive cruise control system maintained its distance (and my sanity) when stuck behind parades of Outbacks, before the 450-horsepower EcoBoost V6 of Raptor fame could dispatch them from across the dotted yellow line. Enough really can't be said about how masterful this engine is — so smooth, so powerful and so quiet. It's perfect for a Lincoln. It also got 20 mpg over the course of the full 900 miles, which compares to the EPA's 21 mpg highway rating. Pretty good given the mountainous terrain and the liberal throttle applied to keep up with a pair of substantially sportier cars I was trailing as part of a photo shoot. Not that the Navigator was really able to keep up with anything once the road got tighter and twistier through the lava fields of the Willamette National Forest. Though I still concur with my initial praise of the Navigator's independent rear suspension and steering that "provides consistent, appropriate and reassuring weighting," there's no getting around the laws of physics. This is a gigantic land craft pushing three tons that's best kept at a relaxed pace – also perfect for a Lincoln. As for the ride, which disappointed during my Navigator first drive in Southern California, the "omnipresent nervousness" I reported didn't really materialize on better pavement in Oregon and later in Washington. True, it's not quite as supple as a unibody Range Rover or Mercedes GLS would be, but it doesn't suffer from the near constant vibration over even the smallest bumps you get in a Chevy Suburban or GMC Yukon XL. On the subject of comfort, though, those 24-way front seats can't be ignored.
More than 800,000 Fords recalled for faulty Takata airbags
Thu, Jan 12 2017The Basics: Ford is recalling about 816,000 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles built in the US for faulty passenger-side Takata airbags. The affected vehicles were all built in North America, with 654,695 recalled vehicles in the US and 161,174 vehicles in Canada. A wide variety of cars, trucks, and SUVs are affected. This is a planned expansion of an earlier recall. 2005-09 and 2012 Ford Mustang 2005-06 Ford GT 2006-09 and 2012 Ford Fusion 2007-09 Ford Ranger 2007-09 Ford Edge 2006-09 and 2012 Lincoln Zephyr and Lincoln MKZ 2007-09 Lincoln MKX 2006-09 Mercury Milan The Problem: Like every other Takata recall, the problem rests with faulty airbags that can potentially expel shrapnel, injuring or killing vehicle occupants. Millions of vehicles from dozens of automakers are affected, so don't think that Ford is alone on this one. Injuries/Deaths: Ford stated in a press release that there have been no injuries or death linked to the vehicles in this recall. All in all, 11 deaths and 180 injuries across a variety of automakers have been linked to these Takata airbags. The fix: Ford will contact owners soon, and the affected vehicles will have their airbags replaced by a dealer at no additional charge. If you own one: Wait for contact from Ford, then head to the dealer to get a replacement. If you're wondering if your vehicle is affected, go to this Ford website and enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The recall reference number is 17S01. Lincoln needs a farewell address, not a new marketing plan
Tue, 09 Apr 2013
The trouble with Ford's Lincoln brand is that no one cares about it any more.
Not long after I heard that Mark LaNeve, chief operating officer of Ford agency Team Detroit, was moving to take over direct operations of the New York ad agency Hudson Rouge for Lincoln, I heard that JCPenney CEO Ron Johnson was ousted. The two events are connected.
