2000 Lincoln Continental - Awesome Daily Driver - New Trans + Ac on 2040-cars
I am adding this statement to address the very odd report on this car:
Hope this helps relieve any ambiguity on the car! Thanks! DETAILS BELOW. This has been my daily driver for 3 years and it was bought new from a dealer in SC by my grandmother. It was given to me when I entered graduate school so I could reduce my bills. Well I have graduated now and I am unloading the "Silver Bullet." This car has been awesome and I would drive to CA in it tomorrow with no hesitation. I am super picky about maintenance on my equipment and I have kept this car in perfect mechanical shape. 138,500 Miles, V8 4.6 L, Traction Control, Really Well Equipped, SIDE AIR BAGS -Oil changes every 3,500-4,500 miles with synthetic / conventional blend -New A/C lines, compressor and condensor within last 10,000 miles -Rebuilt Transmission by Certified MotorCraft mechanic using MotorCraft parts within 25,000 miles -Bridgestone Turanza tires with 85% tread life left (60,000 mile tires) -Sway bars on rear suspension just replaced -Transmission flushed within 10,000 miles -New Serpentine Belt within 10,000 miles I have all the receipts and will gladly send them along with the car. I am sad to see it go since it has been in my family for it's whole life. This would make a perfect daily commuter to keep miles off other vehicles or a perfect SAFE first car for your teen. It handles great, feels really solid and it has tons of power. It is a 2000 model so it does have a few little intricacies but none of them effect the reliability or comfort of the car. Like I said I am really picky about my equipment. Please let me know if you would like to see it (email preferred). I am readily available and want to see it go to a good home. Thanks for looking. Quitting Mexico factory helps bring down Ford earnings $200 million in 2016
Thu, Jan 26 2017Ford released its 2016 earnings report this morning, and despite a fourth quarter net loss it proved to be the automaker's second most successful year ever, following record breaking numbers in 2015. Losses for the year come from a number of sources, including accounting changes and a $200 million hit for backing out of the small-car factory in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Despite the loss, come March 9 about 56,000 UAW-represented employees will receive a $9,000 profit-sharing check. That, like most of Ford's other 2016 metrics, is slightly down from the year before, but it's still the second best profit-sharing payment ever. Total net income was $4.6 billion, down $2.8 billion from 2015. Total revenue for 2016 was $151.8 billion, up $2.2 billion. Ford's earnings report lists a global market share of 7.6 percent, down a tenth from 2015. Ford's European and Asia-Pacific markets posted their best and second best pre-tax profits respectively. The South American, Middle East, and African markets all took hits because of unstable economies and other external factors. Ford expects to have another down year in 2017 as it invests in new and emerging markets and focuses more on its mobility projects.Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Ford announces free brake pad offer if customers stop by dealers
Mon, 04 Aug 2014These days, when you buy a new car, it's not unreasonable to expect a certain period of free maintenance to come along as well. Sometimes this is through the life of the warranty, in other cases a little less. But Ford Motor Company is going beyond those deals for at least one part of its cars. As of now, if you buy a set of Motorcraft brake pads for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury model, you get free replacements for as long as you own the vehicle. The offer is good at Ford or Lincoln dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers.
"We will replace the pads for as long as you own the vehicle," said Elizabeth Weigandt to Autoblog. She did clarify that the Motorcraft pads are generally for models from the '90s or newer. Also, to take advantage of this program, a person must return to the same dealer each time to get the free parts.
Of course, Ford isn't just handing out brake pads to anyone who walks by; there are certain stipulations. First, the components have to be worn down to less than three millimeters to be eligible, and the buyer still has to pay for the labor to install them. If the model is used as a fleet vehicle for commercial purposes like as a taxi or limousine, this offer also doesn't apply; the same thing for racecars. On the plus side, if you recently bought a set of pads from one of the participating locations, you're still in luck. The deal covers parts purchased as of July 1.
Ford is recalling more Takata airbag-equipped Ford and Lincoln models
Thu, Mar 2 2017The Basics: Takata, the beleaguered airbag supplier at the root of the largest recall in automotive history, has informed Ford of a problem with the airbags in just over 30,000 Ford and Lincoln models. The problem is not related to the non-desiccated ammonium nitrate airbag inflators that plague the other airbags ( including many Fords), meaning there isn't a risk of shrapnel flying out from the units in this particular recall. The Problem: In the event of an accident, the front airbags may only partially inflate, and the airbag may become detached from the module because of misaligned parts. The problem affects 2016 and 2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models built at the Oakville Assembly Plant. The issue also affects 2017 Lincoln Continentals that were built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant. Injuries/Deaths: In a release, Ford stated that it is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or deaths related to the airbag issue. The Fix: Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag module at no cost. If You Own One: Sit tight and wait for Ford to notify owners. When that happens, take your car to the dealer for a replacement. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
