I have for your consideration a 1978 Lincoln Continental.  It has approx 67,000 original miles on it.  It has the 460 engine, with automatic transmission.  Both of which work nicely.   Here is what I know/the story of this vehicle.  The vehicle was owned by an elderly couple and it was the wife's car.  In the early 1990's she got cancer.  The husband wanted to surprise her, so he had the car painted and a new vinyl top put on by one of the local Ford dealerships, (Alexander Ford).  The wife unfortunately succumbed to her illness.  The husband tried to drive the car, but the memory of his wife would not allow him to do that.  The vehicle was parked in a semi climate controlled basement, and actually "walled in"  so no one could get to it very easily.  That is where it sat until he decided to sell it, and that is where I came in.  He had offered to sell it to me a couple of times and then changed his mind, but he is up in years now so he offered again and I bought the car.
(Note:  I am friends with the family, and I know the information is accurate.)

I had the car brought to me on a roll back.  It was quite dusty from sitting and I knew it would need work.

The following is what I did to the car:

New gas tank, sending unit and fuel pump.
All new belts.
Water pump/timing chain cover was leaking.  All of that was fixed/replaced.
Since we were close, and the OEM timing gears were nylon, I replaced the timing chain and gears.
Complete tune up, new plug wires distributor cap, plugs etc
Fluids changed, prior to any attempt to start the vehicle.
New battery.
New tires.
New front brakes and rotors.
I had the car detailed, and it uncovered a very very nice paint job.

Here are the issues left with the car:

The A/C is not working.
The power door locks are not working.
The left turn signal inside does not illuminate.  turn signals work fine.
The leather upholstery has discolored some over the years.
The car has no catalytic converters on it.  I can get them put on for $250, if needed.

Everything else works on the car to the best of my knowledge. Radio, power antenna, power windows including the power "vent" windows, power seats, all lights, headlight covers, etc etc

My intentions were to use this car on the weekend and just to "cruise" around in.  It rides/drives like it is on a sheet of glass.

The major reason for selling is that that the driver's area is not big enough for me.  I am a a tall and big person, 6'8" 385lbs.  The first time I sat in the driver's seat was after all of the work was done, and that is when I found out there is not a much room in the Lincoln as was in my 1988 Cadillac Brougham.  I thought about moving the seat back and all of that but I wanted to keep the car original, so I decided to sell it.

Now if you are still here after all of that, it is time for pics.

The car is sold "as is" no warranty express or implied.  500 dollar deposit via Paypal, balance in cash or cashier's check.  All checks must clear before the car will be released.
This car has a lot of potential, and a lot of life left in her.

I priced it about half way of what the range is in the NADA book.

Please look at the photos closely and if you have any questions e mail me, I will respond ASAP.  Thanks

Note:  Someone wanted to know what the white was on the side of the vehicle.  That is just the reflection from the lines in the parking lot.  The paint is that good on this vehicle.

Jay Leno recaps Pebble Beach

Wed, Sep 30 2015

Each year at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance the picturesque, ocean-side setting of the golf course becomes a parking lot for a vast array of multi-million dollar vehicles. However, if you missed the posh event this year, then Jay Leno has you covered yet again. For a nearly hour-long installment of Jay Leno's Garage, the comedian has dumped his denim in favor of a suit to take viewers on an insider tour of the lavish gathering. He interviewed some of the most talented designers in the auto industry, too. Leno starts off checking out a few beautiful classics by the shore, but things really get interesting for his stroll down the Concept Car Lawn for a scoop on the vehicles of tomorrow. Ed Welburn tells Leno all about the Buick Avenir, and Shiro Nakamura offers a tour of the Infiniti Q60. Plus, there are detailed looks at the Lincoln Continental, Hyundai Vision G Coupe, and Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6. 2019 BMW X7 vs luxury SUV rivals: Comparing specs and photos

Wed, Oct 17 2018

Today we get our first-ever look at the first-ever 2019 BMW X7 crossover. We've actually already had our first-ever drive in an X7 Prototype. And so, we thought it appropriate to follow that up today with the first-ever X7 comparison of specs between BMW's first-ever three-row crossover with legitimate room for seven and its many high-dollar competitors. On paper, the 2019 X7 definitely seems to most closely align with the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. Their similar dimensions, interior space, engine choices and price would certainly imply where BMW placed the target when developing X7. We used those same elements to determine three-row vehicles likely to be cross-shopped or that should be cross-shopped. These include the Audi Q7, Land Rover Discovery, Volvo XC90 and Lincoln Navigator. Yes, the latter is a truck-based SUV as opposed to a crossover, but tell that to all the people lining out the door at the local Lincoln emporium. They do not care, and neither shall we. We also included the 2019 BMW X5, which was completely redesigned for this year and therefore not the first-ever. That makes it less appealing? Either way, lining the new X5 up with the SUV that leapfrogs it atop BMW's SUV hierarchy should provide a good idea of just how much more you get by going up a model number. Engines and model lineup Again, the X7 aligns closest with the GLS, offering a base six-cylinder in its xDrive40i model and an upgrade turbo V8 in the xDrive50i. The Mercedes engines have greater output, but the GLS still accelerates slower than the BMW. As the 2019 X5 offers the exact same engines, we would also expect the X7's fuel economy to be superior to the GLS once its estimates are announced. It should be noted, though, that the GLS offers a high-powered AMG model whereas we anticipate the X7 to offer a plug-in hybrid model comparable to the X5 upcoming xDrive45e model. The other luxury SUVs diverge in their engine choices and model lineup. The Audi Q7 offers a base turbocharged four-cylinder, as does the Volvo XC90 in its T5 model, which we left out of the above chart entirely for space reasons. That the Q7 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6 gets the same fuel economy estimates as the four-cylinder is proof positive that engine is purely around for its lower base price.

Lincoln, GMC clean up in AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Awards

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

In recent years, there have been a lot of dire pronouncements made about Lincoln's future, or a lack thereof. But Ford's premium marque is like the Rocky Balboa of the auto business; every time the company seems ready to go, it comes back for more. Apparently, that dogged persistence is paying off, because the industry analysts at AutoPacific have put a big check in their win column with their newly released 2014 model year vehicle satisfaction survey. And despite recent enmity for its seemingly never-ending recall saga, it appears General Motors knows how to satisfy new owners, too.
In fact, not only was Lincoln named as the premium brand with the highest new owner satisfaction, even scored three models on the list of passenger cars with the most gratified buyers - the MKS, MKZ and MKZ Hybrid.
GM's stable of brands was also among the top companies in this year's survey. GMC was named the top popular brand by AutoPacific, with its Sierra pickup and Acadia crossover singled out for awards in their segments. Chevrolet also did incredibly well, with more cars on the list than any other brand. The Corvette, Camaro, Sonic and Impala all made the cut in their respective categories.
