1970 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL SURVIVOR 2 OWNER - $4500 (Odessa, NY)

HERE IS A RARE OPERTUNITY, THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW AT ASTRO LINCOLN MERCURY IN PENSACOLA FLORIDA 2/21/70 BUY THE ORIGINAL OWNER. IT WAS THEN PURCHASED IN FLORIDA BY THE 2ND OWNER AIR FORCE OFFICER DONALD C. RAILSBACK WHO WAS TRANSFERRED TO CALIFORNIA AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR. HE WAS STATIONED IN CALIFORNIA WERE HE MET HIS WIFE IN 1980 HE TRANSFERRED TO MEDINA, OHIO WERE THE CAR WAS LAST REGISTERED IN 1980. HE LEFT THE SERVICE IN 80 AND MOVED TO HIS WIFE'S HOME OF ITHACA, NY WERE THE WAS PUT IN THE BARN AND NOT USED AGAIN IT WAS STARTED BUY DON OVER THE YEARS AND ATTEMPTS WERE GOING TO BE MADE TO PUT IT BACK ON THE ROAD BUT TIME AND FAMILY AND LONG RELATIONSHIP WITH BRITISH CARS LEFT THE LINCOLN IN STORAGE. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN THE FALL JUST TO DO A MECHANICAL RESTORATION AND KEEP IT IN SURVIVOR CONDITION. THE CAR HAS ALL ORIGINAL MANUALS PLUS THE ONE FOR THE AFTER MARKET CRUISE CONTROL. AS WELL AS SOME OLD SERVICE RECIPE'S AND REGISTRATIONS. THE CAR IS BEING SOLD ON DONS 1980 OHIO TITLE THAT IS CLEAN AND FREE.

THE CAR IS PRESENTLY IN RUNNING AND DRIVING CONDITION AND COULD BE DRIVEN THAT BE SAID IT IS UNTESTED FOR MORE THAN A COUPLE OF MILES AROUND MY BLOCK. THINGS I REPLACED ALL THE BRAKES ARE NEW CALIPERS, PADS, DISKS, WHEEL CYLINDERS, MASTER CYLINDER, RUBBER LINES, STEEL LINES THAT NEEDED IT AND THE PRESSURE SWITCH. THE GAS TANK WAS REMOVED AND FLUSHED AND WAS VERY, CLEAN ALL THE RUBBER HOSES WERE REPLACED ALSO. ALL THE BELTS HOSES AS WELL AS THE HEATER CORE WERE REPLACED. ALL PLUGS, POINTS, CONDENSER AND WIRES WERE REPLACED. ALL ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION FLUIDS AND FILTERS. NEW BATTERY MOST OF THE VACUUM HOSES WERE REPLACED. THE STEERING GEAR BOX WAS REBUILT. TIRES ARE GOOD. I HAD THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR PAINTED THERE WERE NO RUST HOLES JUST A LOT SPOTS THAT WERE UNATTRACTIVE.

THIS CAR IS A GREAT CANDIDATE TO JUST DRIVE OR PERFORM A RESTOMOD. THE ISSUES: THE VINYL TOP ISN'T TOO BAD FOR A DRIVER CAR IT HAS A COUPLE OPEN AREAS AND FADING. THE A/C IS COMPLETE BUT NEEDS SERVICING. THE SEATS AND CARPETS ARE VERY GOOD AND HAVE WEAR CONSTANT WITH A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE. THE DASH HAS ONE CRACK AND THE WHEEL IS WARPED ON TOP FROM THE SUN. THE HEADLINER NEEDS REPLACING THE MICE HAD A HOME UP THERE. I TESTED ALL THE WINDOW MOTORS THEY ALL WORK THE DRIVERS WINDOW GOES UP AND DOWN THE TWO QUARTER WINDOWS NEED NEW GEARS THEY ARE PLASTIC AND CHEAP. THE PASSENGER WINDOW MAKE NOISE I AM STILL LOOKING AT THAT IT DON'T GO UP OR DOWN AT THIS POINT. IT NEEDS A MUFFLER AND TAIL PIPE. THE BUMPERS HAVE SOME DENTS AND WEAK CHROME IN AREAS.

NOTE: due to the fact this car has been sold 4 times now and nobody has paid for or even bothered to show up to see the car...there is going to be a non refundable 500.00 deposit.

Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.

Woman keying luxury car caught on tape

Thu, Nov 12 2015

Toronto police are on the hunt for a disguised woman who was caught on camera Sunday keying a car. The woman sported a red bandana over her face and baseball cap as she ran up to the Lincoln MKS in a driveway, the Toronto Star reported. She then went to town with a sharp object, gleefully scratching the car's paint job. She runs off after nearly a minute of enthusiastic damage. Police believe the victim and the vandal know each other, since the Lincoln is the only car in the neighborhood she hit. This is also the third time this particular car has been damaged. They suspect this woman is responsible for the previous incidents. Toronto police told the Star that it will likely cost Lincoln owner thousands to have his car repaired. Security cameras are great for catching vandals in the act, though the videos are difficult for any car enthusiast to watch. Take for instance this video from London in April of a man scratching an Aston Martin while pushing a baby stroller. News Source: The Toronto Star Lincoln Videos vandalism scratch

Production Lincoln Continental will debut at Detroit Auto Show

Fri, Oct 9 2015

The Lincoln Continental concept that debuted at the 2015 New York Auto Show was an absolute star of the event thanks to its handsome lines and sumptuous interior. At the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, we'll get to see how well those fantastic looks transition to the road, as Lincoln will debut the production version there, according to Car and Driver. A market launch will reportedly come later in the year. The stately styling, including the mesh grille, is expected to move largely unaltered to production, but Lincoln is still being vague about the luxury sedan's mechanical parts. The brand's marketing manager Imran Jalal tells Car and Driver the Continental is based on a front-wheel drive platform but an all-wheel drive version in assured. Based on details from the New York show, it reportedly uses a Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 for power. There are no plans for a hybrid, either, according to Jalal. Assembly of the Continental is expected to happen at Ford's Flat Rock, MI, factory alongside the Mustang and Fusion. The MKS, which the new Lincoln replaces, is built in Chicago along with several other models. Freeing up the space there, could let the Blue Oval keep up with demand for the Explorer. While the Continental ushers in styling changes for Lincoln, the shift doesn't extend to model names. Contrary to earlier rumors, the brand doesn't intend to abandon the MK model names in the lineup anytime soon, according to Jalal. Related Video:
