1967 Lincoln 2 Door Hardtop 1967 Continental Coupe on 2040-cars
Ferndale, Washington, United States
This auction is for a nice start on a 1967 Lincoln Continental Coupe. This is one of 11,060 Continental Coupes built in 1967. The car came from a dry climate (Spokane, WA ) and has been in and out of storage for the last 20 something years. It was last driven about 1998 and since then, the engine has a knock, the brakes should be gone through. (low pedal)
Overall this is how they say 'is all there and in good condition'. There are 2 spots that have had bodywork/paint and the rest of the car has its original paint on it starting to wear thin. The body is as 'rust free' as they come and seems very solid. The exhaust was redone close to original front to back as well as new tires back in the 1990's although 1 tire goes down every once in awhile. The door panels are removed to fix a window switch and were never put back on but are included with the car. Most of the car is there and there is spare trim for the left quarter panel in the trunk along with some other spare parts. The wheel covers are not original , the hood ornament and trunk ornament are missing. There is no battery. There are no signs of collision damage, other than 2 spots where the paint has been 'spotted in' . There is no sign of cancer although there is some surface rust here and there. The car does have a few dings and dents, rear bumper has a dent etc from normal use and age..... Clear Washington State title, Will store a short time while you haul. |

Ford faces class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles without brake override systems
Fri, 29 Mar 2013A total of 20 Ford customers are suing the automaker in a class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles "vulnerable to unintended acceleration." According to Reuters, the suit names 30 models built between 2002 and 2010 with electronic throttle control systems but without a brake override system. Those include the 2004-2012 F-Series pickups and the 2005-2009 Lincoln Town Car. Adam Levitt, a partner with the law firm of Grant & Eisenhofer says the plaintiffs in the case want "to be compensated for their economic losses by having overpaid for cars that contained defects." Levitt contends that the plaintiffs would not have bought their vehicles or paid less for them had they known there was no brake override system in place.
Ford began installing brake override systems in its vehicles beginning in 2010. In response to the lawsuit, Ford has pointed to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that indicated that unintended acceleration is mostly caused by driver error, saying in a statement that, "NHTSA's work is far more scientific and trustworthy than work done by personal injury lawyers and their paid experts."
Belville et al v. Ford Motor Co. will be heard in US District Court in the Southern District of West Virginia.
Lincoln to resurrect old nameplates for China?
Wed, 04 Dec 2013Judging by the success that many luxury automakers are currently experiencing in China, it's no surprise that Lincoln plans to take advantage of the situation by peddling its wares across the Pacific. Lincoln will open its first Chinese dealership next year, but potential buyers there won't be mucking through the same alphabet soup of car names found in American showrooms. USA Today reports that Ford's luxury car division could revert back to legacy names (like Continental and Zephyr) in China while keeping the MK_ names here in North America.
In speaking to Ford exec Jim Farley during the LA Auto Show, USA Today says that Lincoln could switch its naming structure as models are refreshed. Farley didn't confirm that the naming revamp would be a China-only decision, but article leaves little hope that American buyers will get to see the return of classic names anytime soon.
Why would Ford rehash old Lincoln names for China only? Buyers there seem to have a better historical associations with the nameplates than in the US. Chinese also still hold Lincoln in high regard, associating the marque with use by prominent government officials.
2013 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost
Tue, 13 Nov 2012A Bench-Warmer In Waiting
I hail from Cleveland, and that means I'm familiar with sports franchises that are always falling short of championships. The Indians, the Browns, the Cavs - they've all come close, but being a resident of C-Town means learning to appreciate the effort more than a reward that never seems to come. So I can appreciate the situation in which Lincoln finds itself today, one where the past is full of repeated attempts to be competitive, and looming on the future's horizon is the next hope on which everything hinges.
That next hope for Lincoln is not the car you see here, but rather the smaller, all-new 2013 MKZ sedan. Like LeBron James entering Gund Arena for the first time, the MKZ will enter dealerships this fall as the brand's chosen savior, markedly more stylish, advanced and desirable than anything offered by Lincoln in recent memory. And that would make this car, the 2013 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost, one of the other 20 guys whose names I can't remember who played alongside LeBron during his rookie season.
