Description:

This is a fine example of a 1965 Lincoln Continental. You can jump in and drive her cross-country, and or bring her to the local shows and get some real attention. Inside and outside she is in phenomenal condition. The paint is Glossy and the Panels are straight as an arrow. It is truly a work of art. She has been maintained extremely well and just about every gadget works.

Exterior:

The exterior shows very well and the photos do not do this car justice. The Body lines are perfect, the panels are not wavy. The term, “Straight as an arrow!” can be used for this beauty. This Continental really does grow on you, and the amount of looks and questions you get will have your head spinning!! Paint is nice and glossy, and does not have any imperfections. There is Zero Rust, and all trim pieces are there. Chrome is all-original, and has never been redone. All Lights and exterior electronics function perfectly.

Interior:

She looks phenomenal inside, The Interior is comfortable and the seats are bolstered correctly and fit the period. All windows go up and down, the passenger side motor is slower than the others. All rubber seals are still original as well. The Dash and Steering wheel have held up quite nicely! I would give the interior a 7 out of 10, and I am a very picky individual.  The Radio, A/C, Antenna, and all driving functions work, as they should.

Mechanics:

This Continental drives, as it should with no overheating issues, and or funny sounds. Transmission shifts as it should and goes through all gears without a single hiccup. The suspension makes you feel like you are floating over the road. We call this car a Land yacht for that reason. Brakes are original and work fine (Power assist Disks up front), She does not leak a drop of oil and fires up every time. We have replaced the plugs and wires, along with all fluids. We used a high zinc motor oil to keep her alive for many more years. The motor is strong and does not smoke or hiccup. It is extremely smooth running down the highway.

Key Points:

-Tires are showing their age and have dry cracks, but can still be driven
-Seat Motor operates, but the forward motion switch is finicky, all other switches work perfect.
-Passenger motor is slower than the others
-Paint is fantastic

Bentley designer calls Lincoln Continental concept a Flying Spur 'copy' [w/poll]

Tue, Mar 31 2015

When you first laid eyes on the new Lincoln Continental concept, we'd wager you were likely impressed, because it's an impressive design. But if you also thought it looked familiar, you're in good company. According to Car Design News, design chief Luc Donckerwolke over at Bentley thinks the Lincoln concept bears more than a passing resemblance to another Continental: Bentley's own Flying Spur. "This behavior is not respectable. Building a copy like this is giving a bad name to the car design world," Donckerwolke told CDN, after posting some disparaging comments on Facebook and offering in jest to send over the tooling. "It is very disappointing, especially for an exclusive brand like Lincoln," added Sangyup Lee, his deputy for exterior design. The irony is further entrenched by the name, which Bentley only dropped from its Flying Spur in its latest iteration but still uses for the coupe and convertible models. Both automakers have a deeply routed history with the nameplate, but Lincoln's stretches back further, having first used the handle in 1939 before Bentley did in 1952. However it's not the nameplate that's the subject of controversy here, rather the design of the vehicle to which it's applied. So what do you think, did Lincoln borrow too heavily from its British counterpart? Related Video:

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.

Lincoln's second, more traditional, Super Bowl commercial

Sat, 02 Feb 2013

For its second Super Bowl commercial, Lincoln Motor Company has stepped away from the Max Ernst-ian surrealism of the "Steer the Script" spot. No Germans, no turtles, no aliens nor alpacas this time, just a 30-second run through the ways in which Lincoln sees the 2013 MKZ as a rebirth of the brand and everything a luxury consumer would want.
The kind of traditional spot that could run any time of year, the only question we had after watching it was: "Wait - was that... Abraham Lincoln?" Along with the press release from Lincoln, you can view the spot below.
If you want a deeper look and criticism into Lincoln's "Steer The Script," ad, have a read of AOL Autos' column: Lincoln's Super Bowl Ad is a Flop, written by Pete Bigelow.
