PLEASE READ THIS AD ENTIRELY BEFORE BIDDING OR ASKING QUESTIONS PLEASE...

I HAVE UP FOR SALE MY "REAL" 1965 CONVERTIBLE LINCOLN CONTINENTAL. I WILL BE THE FIRST TO SAY IT'S NOT A PRETTY SIGHT RIGHT NOW. BUT,IT IS COMPLETE AND DOES NOT NEED ANYTHING PARTS WISE EXCEPT A REAR TAIL LIGHT. IT IS PRETTY BADLY BENT AND WAS LIKE THAT WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR. ALSO,THE REAR BUMPER HAS A SILVER DOLLAR SIZE HOLE IN IT. IN MY OPINION I THINK A GOOD CHROME SHOP COULD FILL IT AND RE CHROME THE BUMPER,OR YOU COULD TRY TO FIND A NEW ONE.
I BOUGHT THE CAR IN JUNE 2010 WITH FULL INTENTIONS OF RESTORING THIS CAR 100% WITHOUT CUTTING CORNERS. I STARTED BY HAVING ALL THE TRIM AND CHROME REMOVED FROM THE CAR AND STRIPPED TO BARE METAL TO SEE WHAT ATTENTION WAS NEEDED WHERE. THE CAR HAD THE TYPICAL RUST THAT THESE CARS TYPICALLY GET IN THE BOTTOM OF THE DOORS AND REAR QUARTER PANELS. ALL THAT WAS REMOVED AND FIXED CORRECTLY WITH METAL "NOT" BONDO. THE BODYWORK IS REALISTICALLY 95% DONE. THE BODY JUST NEEDS A ONCE OVER TO GET THE LIGHT SURFACE RUST OFF,(DUE TO IT NOT BEING PRIMERED) PRIMERED AND BLOCKED BEFORE PAINT.THE REST OF THE CAR IS SOLID. FLOORS ARE GOOD.
THE CAR DOES NOT RUN. BUT IT DOES HAVE THE ORIGINAL MOTOR IN IT AND IS COMPLETE.WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR THE OWNER WAS HOME BOUND AND COULD NOT DRIVE ANYMORE. THE CAR SAT FOR A FEW YEARS PRIOR TO HIM SELLING IT TO ME,AND SAID BEFORE LISTING IT,IT WOULD TURNOVER BUT WOULD NOT START. WHEN I GOT THE CAR SHIPPED TO ME,I TRIED TO START IT AND IT DID THE SAME THING. BUT BEING I WAS GOING TO DO A FULL RESTORATION,I REALLY WASN'T CONCERNED WITH THAT BEING I WAS GOING TO REBUILD THE MOTOR ANYWAY.
THE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY MIDNIGHT BLUE,WITH A WHITE TOP AND WHITE INTERIOR. ALL THE PUMPS,MOTORS ETC. APPEAR TO BE INTACT AND ALL THERE FOR THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. THE TOP WAS NOT WORKING WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THE PICTURES I AM LISTING IS THE CAR'S CURRENT STATE OF CONDITION. IT DOES LOOK LIKE A BIT OF A MESS BUT,IT'S ALL THERE. AS I SAID BEFORE THIS IS A RESTORATION PROJECT.IT WILL NEED TO BE HAULED/TRAILERED. I HAVE A CLEAR TITLE IN HAND. NOT SALVAGE. NOT REBUILT.
I AM LISTING THIS CAR AT A VERY REASONABLE "NO RESERVE" PRICE.  THIS IS A "ONE YEAR" BODY STYLE CONTINENTAL THAT LINCOLN ENTHUSIASTS LOVE AND DESIRE. PLEASE "DO NOT" BID ON THIS CAR IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD IT OR DON'T HAVE INTENTIONS OF PAYING FOR IT. THIS IS A GREAT PROJECT CAR TO BUY AND GREAT CAR TO HAVE AT A PRICE THAT YOU WON'T SEE AGAIN. MOST OF THESE CARS ARE EITHER COMPLETELY RESTORED AND VERY EXPENSIVE,OR DRIVERS THAT STILL COST ALOT AND STILL NEED WORK. GET ONE THAT'S AFFORDABLE AND DO IT THE WAY YOU WANT IT,THE RIGHT WAY! FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ANY QUESTIONS. THANKS FOR LOOKING...

We test Lincoln's 20-speaker Revel Ultima stereo with a rock star

Fri, Aug 26 2016

If there's two things Detroiters know, it's music and cars. So when Lincoln approached us with big claims about their latest stereo system, the Revel Ultima System, we sought out a veteran of the Motor City music scene to test it out. First unveiled at the 2015 Detroit International Auto Show in the Lincoln MKX, Revel is bringing its bumping bass to the 2017 Lincoln MKZ. We had Dick Valentine, lead singer of Electric Six and favorite son of Detroit, try out the 20-speaker, 1200-watt system. If you want it on your MKZ, Revel Ultima is part of the $4,400 Luxury Package. Electric Six is perhaps most famous for its early hit, Gay Bar, and the music video filled with shirtless Abe Lincolns in the White House. Since their debut release, Fire, E6 has backed up a regular touring schedule with ten more studio albums, both a live album and live DVD, and an upcoming quasi-reality film titled Roulette Stars of Metro Detroit. We met up with Valentine on the set of the Roulette Stars to explore the depths of his sardonic wit that oozes through every E6 song. Lincoln says that Revel is the best in the biz. And we'll admit, the stats are impressive. But are 20 speakers and marketing terms like Quantum Logic Surround Technology, Clari-Fi Technology and Point Source Architecture enough to impress a Detroit legend? Valentine knows a little something about sound. As the lead singer and frontman of the Electric Six, he's spent over twenty years hearing his tunes played through speakers. While Valentine hasn't owned a car in a while, he does have opinions on jamming inside of them. We played songs from the band's latest album Bitch, Don't Let Me Die to see if Revel truly delivers on it's bold claims. Related Video: Celebrities Lincoln Ownership music audio sound system

Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures

Tue, Jun 23 2020

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski  Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.

Lincoln MKC recalled because start button located too close to touchscreen [UPDATE]

Wed, Dec 31 2014

UPDATE: Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker responded to our questions and let us know that the fix for the push-button start on the 2015 MKC has the switch moved to the top of the of the column of gear shift buttons instead of the bottom. Owners should be notified about both campaigns "toward the end of February." After massive campaigns from General Motors and to fix Takata airbag inflators, 2014 will undoubtedly go down as The Year Of The Recall. And with little time to spare, Ford is getting in just under the wire to adding two more to its yearly total. The larger of the campaigns is actually one of the most bizarre campaigns we've heard of all year. Lincoln is recalling 13,574 units of its 2015 MKC compact crossover in North America to move the location of the push-button ignition switch on the dashboard. According to the automaker's announcement: "Due to the switch's close proximity to other controls, occupants are inadvertently shutting off the engine while driving." The button is located near the bottom of the touchscreen, which can apparently make it possible to hit by mistake. Back when Autoblog first drove the new MKC in June, we came away very impressed, but noted: "... we're still not completely sold on the aforementioned pushbutton transmission selector ... it still seems somewhat gimmicky and it can't be operated by feel alone, as you might when shifting a traditional console-mounted lever from Park to Drive." According to Lincoln, there have been no reported accidents or injuries stemming from this button misapplication. Of the affected vehicles, there are 11,144 in the US, 2,033 in Canada and 397 in Mexico. To fix the problem, dealers are moving the button to a different location and reprogramming the powertrain control module. According to Automotive News, models built since September already have a different layout. The change was reportedly done to match the rest of the Lincoln lineup. The second recall covers 12,205 units of the 2014 Ford Escape (2015 model year pictured below) and 2015 Lincoln MKC in North America because of a problem with nickel plating on the fuel pump. The issue can cause the pump to seize, which can cause the crossovers not to start or stall while driving. The automaker is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this fault. Dealers are replacing the fuel deliver module to fix the situation. Of the affected vehicles, there are 9,038 in the US, 3,074 in Canada and 93 in Mexico.
