What you are looking at is one of the most iconic vehicles that I know of, the JFK car.  Even though I believe the original JFK car was 63 Lincoln Continental, this car actually originated in Texas as well.  I still have the original license plate that was issued to this vehicle in 1964.  I hate to part with this car but due to purchase of a new house this must go.  So here we go.

What you are looking at is a numbers matching 1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible fully loaded with the original 430 V8 motor and transmission.  This black beauty looks quite cool with all black exterior and beautiful red interior.  I have taken this Lincoln to multiple car shows and rarely do you see these cars in public.  Due to California weather, I always have the top down and rarely have a need to put the top up.  Lets start with the exterior.  The paint is very nice, however it is several years old.  So if you are looking for a perfect car, this car is not for you.  With that said, the car has some minor imperfections but nothing major.  It does not have any rust issues.  It does have a few chips here and there but you do have to look for them.  The chrome is in great condition and looks good.  However, with an afternoon you can get the chrome to polish and look even better.  The interior is very clean, non smoker, no rips or tears in the seats or carpet.  The car does have power seats and power everything.  The radio, heater, power antenna, power locks, seats, windows, convertible top, lights, etc all work.  The convertible top does go up and down.  The trunk opens and closes as it should.  If you know Lincoln Continentals than you should know that the electronics on these cars are finicky.  You do have to tinker with this every now and then.  Back in 1964 this Lincoln was the highest optioned car available and sold for well over $8000.00 and they only made around 3,328 of these convertibles.  So when was the last time you saw one.  I did have all of the power equipment working and had all of the window switches completely rebuilt.  All the motors do work, however you just may need to reset the relays.  I also have Lincoln Continental manual that breaks down this car down to the very last relay.

The motor runs really good but it is the original motor.  The transmission shifts smooth and with out problems.  At 70 mph on the freeway the car just glides along.  The exhaust sounds great and has a very deep and powerful sound to it.  The car does have a few minor leaks coming from the oil pan and transmission pan as well but nothing major.  The AC does not work right now and I do have a new condenser for it and that is all it needs.  Also, the speedometer does not work right now but it was working a few weeks ago.  The convertible top does look ok, but it may need to be replaced depending upon your preference.  As I said, I rarely use the top and always have the car garaged.  I am very confident that with just a few thousand dollars investment you can easily turn this car into a 45-50K car.  My reserve is set pretty low, however I won't give the car away either.

I do have the car for sale locally and retain the right to end this auction at anytime if the car sells sooner.  I have the pink slip on the car and it is currently registered with out any issues.  If you have any questions or want to test drive the car please feel free to contact me at 916-262-6971.

2016 Lincoln MKX spied in production form

Wed, Dec 17 2014

We're getting our first quality look at the next-generation Lincoln MKX in production guise thanks to these fresh spy shots, and they suggest styling that hews very closely to the concept from earlier this year. Compared to the showcar, the headlights aren't quite as well integrated into the grille, but these LED units still attempt to nicely wrap the split-wing grille across the entire face of the vehicle. Beyond that, the two vehicles quite similar, though. The shape of the lower air dam is practically identical – just with some extra plastic for the production version. The hint of a character line running down the side also makes the resemblance easy to spot, despite this tester's polka-dot camouflage. At the rear, the taillights stretch across the hatch with integrated exhaust outlets below. Even the twin-spoke wheels are comparable to the concept. Also, look carefully at these spy shots, and you can notice Lincoln apparently testing two different trims. One has LED headlights with front and rear parking sensors (pictured above), and the other shows projector lights with the sensors only at the rear. The next-gen MKX will launch in 2015 and will be the first model in Lincoln's lineup to benefit from the deal with Harman to use its high-end Revel audio system. Check out the gallery to get a mildly camouflaged sneak preview of the company's future luxury crossover.

Lincoln revival bypasses rear-wheel drive for now

Wed, Nov 25 2015

Ford execs had the axe ready for Lincoln just a few years ago, but the luxury marque is on a hot streak these days. Annual sales are up 7.5 percent through October, and the recently unveiled, refreshed 2017 MKZ previews the company's improved styling. In a great piece about the brand's growth strategy, Automotive News finds the division's bosses want to focus on the core vehicles before taking a big step and building a rear-wheel drive niche model. "Luxury coupes and sports cars are not the first place we need to go," Global Lincoln Director Matt VanDyke said in the story. The division's bosses want to use the updated MKZ as an opportunity to distance Lincoln's identity from Ford, and the powertrain will carry the 3.0T badge rather than Ford's EcoBoost name as part of that approach. The model also injects excitement into the range thanks to an all-wheel drive version with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 400 horsepower and an optional Driver's Package with a torque-vectoring rear differential. Lincoln will launch at least three new models by 2020, too. One of those will be the production Continental that will reportedly debut at the Detroit Auto Show. The company will also allegedly revive the Aviator to fit below the Navigator. The third vehicle remains a mystery but likely isn't a compact. Automotive News' story further examines the previously languishing brand's work to climb up the luxury ranks in the US. It's well worth a read. Related Video:

Weekly Recap: New bosses try to jump-start Cadillac and Lincoln

Sat, 26 Jul 2014

Both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.
It's ironic that Cadillac and Lincoln got new bosses within days of each other this month. It's also a commentary on the fact both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.
