1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V Convertible Barn Find 42k Mile Original on 2040-cars
Cincinnati, Ohio, United States
|
Here's a great '60 Continental convertible project. The car runs and drives, but needs fuel system and brake work. It shows 42k miles which we believe to be original. It has exterior rust on the quarters and rockers, but the unibody is solid and I see no structural issues. Please read below for more details and photos.
This car was donated to Goodwill by a long term owner in the early 1990s, and purchased by a collector who kept in dry storage from then until 2013. I've owned it for the last year but have several projects ahead of it and I'm out of storage space. Body shows one repaint in the original diamond blue, with black leather interior. It is currently running off a gas can but the motor feels strong and smooth. Trans goes into gear and I've driven it around the yard. Brakes need rebuilt. Tires are fair but hold air. There is rust in the lower quarters and rockers, and the driver's floor pan has a hole near the toeboard. Passenger front floor is soft but the rest of the floors look ok. Trunk floor is solid, door bottoms are good. Hood lip is rusted through. Trunk lid is solid. Structurally, the inner rockers and frame rails are solid and I don't see any rust damage. The undercoating is peeling off but underneath its solid.
Fender skirts are included - one has a small hole at the bottom. Spare wheel has been cleaned and primed. The jack and spare tire holddown are in the trunk. Top has a couple holes but is intact. Electricals will need some attention - drivers window and power vent windows work fine, other windows try to work. Top motor tries to work but doesn't do much - the motors and relays will probably need cleaned and lubed. Windshield has a couple light wiper scuffs but no cracks that I can see. Side and rear glass looks ok also. She has a lot of potential and I hope she finds a good home. All questions are welcome. The Lincoln is located in New Richmond, Ohio, just east of Cincinnati. I may be able to deliver for a reasonable fee, or at least put the buyer in touch with a transporter. $500 deposit due at the end of the auction, and payment terms are flexible. We can store the car for up to a month if necessary. Clear Ohio title. International bids welcome. Thanks for looking!

Lincoln to get high-end Harman Revel audio in 2015
Thu, Dec 4 2014"They've never been in autos before, and this is going to be an absolute point of differentiation for us." – Matt VanDyke Lincoln executive Matt VanDyke admits he was "moderately interested" when he heard his brand was considering a partnership with a high-end speaker company. Then he listened to the silky sound they made. "I sat there and I was blown away," he said. That may be overselling the speakers, but they do sound good – we know, we've checked 'em out. Lincoln is betting subtle enhancements – like Harman's Revel audio systems – will help the historic automotive brand appeal to a new generation of buyers. The companies announced a 10-year deal on Wednesday to place Revel speakers in Lincoln cars and trucks beginning in 2015 models. Terms were not disclosed. Though Revel is a new name, Harman has long offered a wide array of car under other brands, including Harman Kardon, Infinity and Lexicon. The partnership launches with the next-generation MKX crossover (concept version shown above), which arrives in showrooms in 2015, and the speakers will be available on other Lincoln models, too. Revel is Harman's top-of-the-line brand that's marketed to audiophiles, and its home systems can easily cost several thousand dollars or more. In Lincolns, passengers will be able to tune their Revel system to three settings: normal stereo sound; "audience," which creates concert-like acoustics; and "on-stage," which is designed to make passengers feel like they're standing among the band. Revel and Lincoln designers also collaborated on the style of the speaker grilles to integrate them into the vehicles, and the uplevel Revel system, called Ultima, will use aluminum covers. "They've never been in autos before, and this is going to be an absolute point of differentiation for us," said VanDyke, Lincoln's global director. Though Revel is a new name to the auto sector, Harman has long offered a wide array of in-car audio and infotainment systems under other brands, including Harman Kardon, Infinity and Lexicon. The Revel partnership is part of Lincoln's efforts to elevate its image and make the brand more relevant to new and younger customers. Lincoln's Black Label line, a customization and service program, will launch at 32 dealerships in six states this year, before expanding nationwide in late 2015. Additionally, Lincoln signed Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey to star in its advertisements.
Ford recalls 277,000 Super Duty trucks over foggy rear-view camera
Thu, Sep 1 2022Ford has issued a recall that applies to around 277,000 units of the Super Duty pickup built between the 2017 and 2020 model years. The campaign also includes about 13,000 units of the Lincoln Continental, and it aims to fix an issue that makes the rear-view camera foggy. Assigned recall number 22V-644 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall includes 139,131 units of the F-250, 109,960 units of the F-350, 14,830 units of the F-450, and 13,119 units of the Continental. The affected trucks are all fitted with the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera system and were built between November 12, 2015, and March 10, 2020, while the affected Lincoln models are equipped with the 360-degree camera and were made from November 30, 2015 to March 10, 2020. Ford explains "degradation of the coating on an internal rear-view camera lens can lead to a progressively foggy or cloudy image." It adds ultraviolet radiation causes the problem and that this issue increases the risk of an accident, though it's not aware of accidents or injuries. Owners of affected cars and trucks who have already paid to get the issue fixed have until September 30, 2022, to ask Ford for a refund. The company will begin notifying customers about the recall by mail on September 12, 2022, and it will ask them to take their vehicle to the nearest authorized dealer to get the rear-view camera replaced free of charge. Conan O'Brien takes McConaughey's Lincoln ad to its logical conclusion
Thu, 11 Sep 2014We all had to see this coming. Conan O'Brien has released a parody of Matthew McConaughey's new ads for the 2015 Lincoln MKC and remixed them with lines from one of his most critically acclaimed recent roles.
The now much darker commercial probably isn't how Lincoln would prefer the MKC to be marketed, but really in a few of the actual ads, McConaughey already seems moments away from breaking into a full Rustin Cohle from True Detective impression. The cadence and tone of his voice are just so close to that character, especially in the one where he's talking to the bull standing in the middle of the road. It very nearly verges on parody anyway; Conan is just turning all of this up to 11.
It's a little surprising that the writers didn't dig a little deeper into the McConaughey oeuvre for the parody. Maybe McConaughey could have taken the MKC for a party at the Moon Tower from Dazed and Confused. In any case, it's worth a quick watch, so check it out.
