While I've used Lexus Service every 5,000 miles to make sure everything on it works PERFECTLY, my baby does, of course, have a few small minor scratches. Many people would not even notice them."

It is hard for me to sell my SC430.  This car has been my baby since I purchased it in April, 2004.  I am its only owner and only driver.  Every 5,000 I brought it back to Prestige Lexus for their high priced Oil Service and check-up.  All suggested major tune-ups were also done at Prestige Lexus.  I have a COMPLETE FILE on my car for you to check.  It contains every Service Receipt for every service.  I also have the original Bill of Sale and even the original MSRP Window Sticker.

During the past 9 years I have never had a serious problem with this car.  You can check each Lexus Service Receipt to confirm this for yourself.  The only reason I am parting with my SC430 is because I finally decided to treat myself to a new Mercedes SL550.  While this new car is clearly more powerful and has more electronics, my SC430 has lots more walnut wood trim inside, and lots more creature comforts.  This really has been a tough trade-off for me to make.

The only thing I added to my all original SC430 is the Lexus Spare Tire package.  All SC430's originally came with Run-Flat tires, and NO spare.  I found the Run-flats much too hard.  So, I installed Michelin Pilot tires.  I feel the ride of the car, and the whole feel of the car dramatically improved.  For safety purposes, I purchased a genuine LEXUS Spare Tire, and the Trunk Container to hold it -- from Prestige Lexus.  This cost me just over $1,000 (hard to believe but true).  This Spare Tire Container only reduced trunk space by about 10% because it was designed and installed by Lexus.  And if you don't want to use it, it can easily be uninstalled.

While I have listed my SC430 at a somewhat higher than usual price, its lucky purchaser will have a trouble free, perfectly running car, that has just been broken in.  Dealers have offered me low 20's for my car.  I am certain they would market it for close to $30,000.  In any case, it would be priced well above my $26,000 price.

Please DO NOT E-MAIL a low ball offer or any kind of a trade.
Please DO NOT ASK for a test drive if you do not have the money to purchase this car.
Scammers contact someone else, since you will be wasting your time with me!

Toyota, Lexus to build more CUVs to meet surging demand

Sun, Jan 18 2015

What was the biggest takeaway from the auto industry's 2014? Besides the fact that recalls are now a sad and mostly unremarkable part of a vehicle's life, it's that you can't be a competitive, mainstream brand in the US without a really strong line of crossovers, SUVs or pickups. We saw evidence of this as recently as Monday, when Hyundai unveiled its HCD-15 Santa Cruz Concept, and now we're seeing it again with Toyota. The company already has a comprehensive lineup of both mainstream and luxury CUVs and SUVs, although surging demand – sales were up 16 percent last year, Bloomberg reports – has led the company to increase its production tempo at the plants responsible for the RAV4 and Lexus RX. "The freeze is still in place until the end of March of 2016," Toyota's Jim Lentz told Bloomberg during this week's Detroit Auto Show, referencing the production bump at the Japanese and Canadian factories responsible for the models. "That hasn't changed. All indications are that it will lift, but right now it has not lifted." The increased sales are even spurring the brand to consider additional CUVs, including a compact that would slot in below the RAV4, Lentz told the business publication. Such a move would give Toyota a player in an increasingly competitive and important segment. In 2014 alone, mainstream brands, including Honda, Mazda, Chevrolet and Jeep, have announced brand new products destined for the compact CUV market. "We're going to have to look at how the market under RAV4 develops," Lentz told Bloomberg. "There's no question that it's going to. That's going to be the next growth spurt." Related Video:

Chris Harris flogs the Lexus RC F

Fri, Feb 20 2015

Chris Harris went to the Monticello race track in New York to sample the Lexus RC F, and, to be honest, he had to figure out how to love it on a circuit. Smitten with the luxury coupe's looks and cabin and naturally-aspirated V8 before taking the driver's seat, Harris found that four laps on track exposed its Achilles' heel: mass. Harris quoted the weight of his car at 1,860 kilograms, or 4,092 pounds, which is about one junior varsity athlete beyond the 3,958-pound curb weight of the coupe we drove. The 478 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque couldn't stoke the hustle Harris wanted, removing all the easy friskiness expected from the coveted FR setup, and leading to quick brake fade. He made note of the Lexus' lack of torque compared to the BMW M4, but in truth the RC F is only 15 lb-ft shy of its Munich nemesis. It is, however, at least 400 pounds heavier. On public roads, though, it's a different story. When not being pushed to prove itself in tight spaces, Harris thinks the Lexus is still a "curious blend of things," but a GT whose noise, styling and non-Germanness mean that it "certainly has a place," and might just take time to grow into. Lexus leads J.D. Power's Vehicle Dependability Study for 2021

Thu, Feb 18 2021

J.D. Power's latest Vehicle Dependability Study is out, and, not surprisingly, Lexus sits at the top for the ninth time in the last 10 years. Right behind Lexus is Porsche, followed by Kia, which is the highest-ranked mass-market brand in the study. Genesis, last year's top-ranked brand (in its first year included in the results), fell from first to eighth, though the G80 sedan did earn an award in its midsize luxury segment. The Porsche 911 was called out as the Most Dependable Model by J.D. Power for the second time in the last three years. The vehicles being studied are from the 2018 model year, which means owners have had three years to get to know their cars and trucks. It's notable that this year's study shows a marked improvement in overall vehicle dependability as tracked by J.D. Power. The overall level of problems, scored by the number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100), declined by 10% compared to last year.  "The study results validate what we have known for some time," said Dave Sargent, vice president of global automotive at J.D. Power. "Automakers are making increasingly dependable vehicles — but there are still some problem areas that need to be addressed and some warning signs on the horizon." Tesla makes its inaugural appearance on the Dependability Study, though its score of 176 PP100 isn't official. Tesla is the only automaker that has chosen not to grant J.D. Power permission to survey its owners in all 50 states. As we've pointed out in the past, the Vehicle Dependability Study includes eight major vehicle categories grouped by J.D. Power as follows: audio/communication/entertainment/navigation (ACEN); engine/transmission; exterior; interior; features/controls/displays (FCD); driving experience; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; and seats. All issues reported by owners are all tracked equally, which means a problematic phone pairing procedure dings an automaker's rating the same as a blown engine or transmission. And in fact, the ACEN category has more reported problems than any other, which means the majority of problems reported don't lead to a vehicle that leaves its owner stranded.
