1998 Lexus Sc400 Base Coupe 2-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Pomona, California, United States
1998 Lexus SC400. 1998, 99, and 00 SC400's differ from earlier models in that they have variable valve timing, which gives 40 more horsepower, a five-speed automatic transmission, and different ground effects (body panels) to reduce drag and enhance styling. They are also more reliable as most of the electrical and component problems have been worked out. These are the premium years for this model and they are more valuable and collectible than earlier models.
This car is Renaissance (Arrest Me!) Red, and it is all original and complete. It is in excellent condition, and will continue to perform well for many more miles. It runs and drives excellent. Everything works. No leaks. No check engine light. No funny noises. All dash and climate control lights are working. Less than 10,000 miles on new Pirelli's. This car has the power of a big cruiser, and handles like a sports car. It has all the comforts you need for a cross-country trip, and is economical enough to be driven every day (I do). It has power everything, but just a few things that come to mind are: Power Windows, Power Seats, Memory Seats, Power Door Locks, Power Adjustable Steering Wheel, Climate Control, Power Mirrors, Cruise Control, and the list goes on. I bought the car in 2001, when it had 8000 miles. I am the second owner. It has been well cared for and has never caused me any problems. I had the major service (timing belt, water pump, etc.) done in 2007 when it had 117,000 miles. I had a 1992 SC400 before this one, and I drove it 215,000 miles before trading it in on this one. They are excellent and reliable cars. I am selling it because I just bought a Jaguar. |

Lexus RC F GT3 Racing Concept threatens to go racing
Fri, 28 Feb 2014In case you needed more proof that the Lexus RC F is a statement car intended to scream "This is not your father's brand" (yes, we're paraphrasing the tagline of another automaker), here it is: the Lexus RC F GT3 Racing Concept. Lexus introduced a GT500-spec version of the RC F at the Tokyo Auto Salon last month, but this GT3-spec entrant and its Reading Rainbow paint job will get to show off at the Geneva Motor Show to whet the appetites of European racing outfits.
Although referred to as a concept, it will shake that name off when it completes a season of testing this year. Next year, Lexus will make it available to paying customers, and says the car will be cleared to race in the Occident and in Japan's Super GT series alongside its GT500 cousin.
Mazda and Lexus crowned with KBB 5-Year Cost To Own awards
Tue, 12 Feb 2013We report on a lot of awards, some of which are given out based on more solid criteria than others. This one, the Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own awards, seems like one that new car shoppers should pay attention to.
The cost of a car goes far beyond what you pay for the actual metal, leather and rubber at the point of purchase. Fuel, insurance, maintenance and repair costs, and the cost of fees from the state and financing will all weigh on your wallet while you own the car. That's not even taking into account the biggest cost: depreciation, or the amount of money you lose based on what your car is worth years from now versus the day you bought it.
KBB tracks these sorts of things, and they've compiled a list of winners for 2013 models. On the brand level, Mazda and Lexus earn the 5-Year Cost to Own award for having the lowest overall projected five-year totals (though, curiously, we note that Mazda and Lexus each had only one segment winner). There are lots of winners for all the various segments, so we'll just pick out a few surprising ones to share and you can view the rest here.
2015 Lexus GS F is camo-free and frisky
Thu, 05 Sep 2013Other than some missing badges and (hopefully) a not-yet-finished rear fascia, what you see here is an undisguised look at the long-awaited Lexus GS F high-performance sedan. Lexus' answer to the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, the GS F has been spotted again.
Unlike our previous spy shots, though, this time around, the sporty Lexus has been caught testing on the Nürburgring, so our spy shooters have managed to get a look at the car from all angles. Building on the aggressive styling of the GS F-Sport, the GS F gets bigger air intakes and a lower chin spoiler up front. Like before, we see the signature stacked exhaust outlets, but they still seemed roughed into rear fascia, which gets an aero-aiding diffuser.
We still only have guesses as to what will be under the hood, but a 465-horsepower, 5.0-liter V8 sounds good to us. Expect to see the production GS F on the road by 2015.
